Night shift differential is the best. Doesn't totally make up for way it messes up your sleep schedule, but I'd rather work nights, make more and NOT deal with the craziness of day shift in the hospital! Good rundown of a typical night!
I am so happy for this video. Because I am thinking of going back in the CNA coming from Hope Hospice care the day shift put me in the Hospital I was doing too much and I couldn't walk end up with bulging disc from pulling up patients in bed. And before that I was always sick MRI show I have low cartilage damage and bulging disc at my side and OA over all my joints then they said I have fibromyalgra. I was out of work for 1 year. Buti MIs working and Doing all I can to help husband fiancially so I was thinking working at the hospital but am wondering I am making a terrible mistake going back in that situation of work? Am so scared due to my constant joint pain. Please give me your opinion. I was thinking night shift, even though it mes with my sleep and cause me to get dizzy .Because in the day shift it too much for me with bad health problems. Anyone reading this give me your opinion too please.
Facts
I agree with you. The day shift looks like it could be overly hectic.
@@godblessjamericanqueen8036 I think this would be difficult for you. You have many issues going on. Best of luck!
Just got called for an interview for tomorrow morning! Im so excited! I currently have been working almost 2 months on a skilled nursing facility as a CNA!
Thank you for posting this video. I’m 3 months new into this CNA career. To make a long story short I was a machinist before this, however wanted to pursue my real passion. I just got hired onto a hospital and am scared out of my skin. I’m still learning and trying to figure this new career. I am thankful for your video because at least I can write down a rough draft of how my day should run. Meaning I liked how you gave yourself plenty of time to do the smaller things but yet know you do have a time schedule. Anyways thanks for posting 😊
Yay! In the beginning it will be hard but it’s ok! We were all there at one point! You’ll get the hang of things eventually. Good luck!! :)
love it,I'm applying for a 12hr shift job..fingers crossed !!
good luck! :D
You’re so pretty! Good video for future CNA and PCT
Been working overnight 16 years now. I have no sleep schedule any more.
Byrdmann wow are you a cna or a rn?
thank you so much this this video help a lot im thinking about going to CNA school and try to get a job at a hospital!!!
My mom loves working as a CNA
Proud CNA. CNAs are the BACKBONES of Nursing Team
Thank you for posting this!!! Very informative :) I'm hoping I can get a job at a hospital where I currently volunteer. Next month I'll start taking a CNA course to get my certification so we'll see :) Please keep posting videos like this one. Btw, are you planning on going back to school?
Good luck with the program! And yes I am. I am applying right now for next year in the spring and fall so we shall see what happens (:
How did it go? I start Monday!
Norma Carbajal Same boat you’re in; I hope I can start working as a CNA where I’m volunteering as well.
Thank you for the review. I start my CNA training in 2 weeks. I am looking forward to nights, weird I know. It will keep me working and get me some time in service while I finish my LVN/RN over the next 2 years.
Good luck 😃🎉
Hey I work as a CNA in a nursing home for 12 hr shifts. During the day they have 4 CNAS and at night we have 3 from 6pm-11pm and from 11pm-6am we only have 2 CNAS with 25-30 residents! Sometimes during 11-6am we have to watch our “sister” hall which is the hall right beside us which puts us up too 40 residents maybe, because they will pull that person to somewhere else or we’ll have a call in. We have residents who will crawl out of bed or scream on both halls so idk how we can only have 2 Cnas on both halls. It’s not bad if we had 2 on my hall and one on the our “sister” hall.
I personally think a day shift should have the best rates. And so night shift as well because Durant the day is when everything happens and buzz you a lot the crazy it gets and hard working you do starting with waking up early to be 10 min. Before their huddle, and sacrifices cnas do specially if we are moms...with this been said I'm not minimizing the hard and changes of sleep patterns of night shift. But days deserves equal benefits.
Hi, thanks for sharing the video. its so usefull for me. well i'm thinking to go to CNA course. if u could let me know where did u take the courses and what should be prepared it would be awesome.
I am caregiver working in home health care agency for 5 years, and now thinking work in hospital as my son gown up, idk if the hospital would hire me because I don't hv experiences working in hospital or fasility.
@misssimple82 Do you have any advice on how to get into the hospital? I got my license last Monday. The only experience I have is clinicals. I did not enjoy the nursing home I just saw alot ot horrible things done to the patients and it really upset me.
Networking! It's sad but true. It's who you know. When I got my license I also wanted to go straight into a hospital. I applied to several and heard nothing back. Until my friend who worked in a hospital got me in. You can also try applying to a "sitter" position. Might be easier to get in that way and work your way up. Good luck! :)
@@JessicaLights Good news I got a full time job at a hospital near me where I was born. I am working days I absolutely love my jobs and my patients love me and I get so much appreciation. Florida doesn't pay so much I have been there for a month and a half. 😍
oh yay!!!! Congratulations Jennifer!! :D The appreciation you get makes it all worth it I'm sure :)
Jennifer Fortin congrats
Hi. I signed up for cna class in ny. Will be 200 hours. 140 in class and 60 elsewhere. How much are they teaching you in all these hours.
So cute, thank you
You're so professional :)
do you usual finish everything during your shifts?
So cute!💙😘
how was your day time plans? after you finished the night shift at work did you get home and sleep? or did you have breakfast maybe do chores or sleep till 4? lol
I would get home by 8, take a shower and sometimes eat something small and then go to sleep by 8:30am - 9:00am. Then I would wake up at any time by 1:30pm - 3:00pm. Which is crazy right? Because if you flip it around to regular day shift I would be waking up at 1:30am - 3:00am but somehow I was still functional lol ^_^'
How do you know who all is ambulatory? Is there a Kardex available for CNAs to look at, or do you have to ask the nurse?
I get that information during shift report. If I get a new admit I ask the nurse because she would have gotten that information during report. Also, it is written in the communication board in their room :)
Was it hard to figure everything out when you first got hired?
Definitely! I saw other CNA's having a routine and I would be like..... what do I do next? It takes time to figure out but it'll come to you
Do you wake up the sleeping patients to take their vitals, or do you get them once they are awake?
Yup! We have to wake them up. We have to see how they are doing. 95% of them are ok but of course you get some patients who get mad because they just want to sleep
@@JessicaLights Thank you for your prompt reply. I know that I get upset when people wake me up. :)
Do u pass out the lunch trays too? Or do they only do that in nursing homes?
During night shift not really. Dinner trays would come around 5pm-6pm and my shift would start at 7pm. So by the time I got there they would be finish. During day shift people from dietary pass them out. Of course we can always help out if we have the time.
Good
What city do you work in?
Does the job have a 50 lb or more lift requirement?
This kind of work is HARD on your joints and your back. I work in a nursing home.
Did you have any male CNA's that you worked with?
Yup, there are male CNA's as well.
Random but I have never met a male CNA I didn't like lol
Do you think I can be a full time cna and go to school??
Emily Serey where I live a lot of us nursing students do that to gain experience and have an income, it's definitely possible.
How much does a cna get pay in dallas
so beautiful 😘
I work at a hospital in indiana and don't make 17 as a pca.... I wish 😑
Do CNAS get reimbursed for the schooling?
Pam Yang depends on the facility :)
RN LVN CNA.. HAVE THEIR OWN SCOPE OF PRACTICE.
Here cnas make $11 an hour.....
That is horrible money. I wouldn't work for that little.
That's a lot sister
Nurses taking vitals, lol, funny.
Y is she using military time ✋🏾✋🏾 cuz not everyone understands
Because healthcare uses military time...
Wassup with all that military time ..
Healthcare uses military time so there can be less error involving time :)
misssimple82 ohh yeah i learned that yesterday on my stna class lol.
3rd shift . there is no help...if you get hurt your fucked. .trust me.
Donna Anderson What you mean hurt?
You said nothing about documentation.
B Brown luckily I don’t have to chart much! (:
I'm 15 I wanna be a cna 💖
Hw
CAN CNAS WORK AT MENTAL HEALTH.. ???
Yup! I’ve seen only in hospital settings, I don’t know about outpatient.
@@JessicaLights IMA BE TAKING CNA IN COUPLE MONTHS WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS? IS IT HARD?
NIKE SB the course isn’t hard. Some people just might find it shocking at what CNA’s actually do. For the state exam just rehearse the skills over and over. Repetition is key for me. Good luck! 😁
@@JessicaLights WEIRD QUESTION DO YOU CHANGE DIAPERS 🤯 LOL
NIKE SB yes!
