GI Joe needs an XCOM-style game where you fly to all parts of the world, thwarting Cobra's schemes before tracking them down to the ancient city of Cobra-La.
I remember paying $50 for Streets of Rage on the Sega Genesis and beating the game in an hour. Then I played it again, because it's such a good game. Then I played it again, because it's such a good game. And it's a game that I can keep going back to, because it's such a good game. See, it's quality that matters, not how long it takes to beat the game. There are plenty of games that took me 20 hours to beat that I've never wanted to play again.
I think Corporate Cobra would love this. 2 hour game for $25? PLUS you know they're going to do addons of some sort. This is a HUGE win for those who are greedy, and shouldn't be anywhere near game development.
I think I just figured out why the game costs so much. Hasbro didn't make this game themselves. Which means the company/indie studio that did had to pay a licensing fee, and is trying to pass that fee to the customer. In terms of stupid corporate logic, it makes perfect sense.

When people judge the quality of a game based on length (even if Joe gives more reasons for this game than just "TWO HOURS??!!"), a part of me dies on the inside. Even if arcade games such as BMUPs and SHMUPS are generally pretty short (most don't even last more than an hour), the real value lies in replayability. In other words, putting in the time to get good at it with limited (or even just one) credits rather than abusing continues to the end. Playing other modes are of course another way to get more out of the game! Had it been longer, then a playthrough would've been more exhausting. It's comparable to getting good at playing a song on piano or a guitar. It may not be for everyone, and that's okay. But as for this game, it really looks like the most mediocre modern BMUP I've seen that tries to capitalize on TMNT: Shredder's Revenge's success. Looks sort of cheap, and seems to have about as much depth and challenge as a puddle.
Not opposed to a short and sweet game if its 5-10 bucks if it was going to be longer you'd need character unlocks or something to incentivize more than one playthrough or something to not get too stale
Corporate Cobra approves this game. 2ish hours long, $25, PLUS you know they're going to have some sort of addon attached to it eventually. Glad to be able to see it played here within 19m, and saves me $25 lol.
@@Isnogood12 None of the DLC's are addition material for the GI Joe game, they're other games made by the same devs. So no additional value to the base game in any way.

Streets of Rage 4 has set the bar for these kind of games. An actual remaster and sequel to the legendary pixel art game from SEGA. It's full of respect to the original source material. You can even play the old sega soundtrack in-game and unlock all legecay characters with new combos. It's how you make a modern game packed with nostalgia. @AngryJoeShow a let's play SOR 4 definately would not misstand on your channel or maybe I've overlooked it on your twitch channel.
Yes a squad of Alley Vipers, the S.W.A.T - Urban environnement cobra specialist soldiers are quite a match! The training these guys have to do is insane!
This game has 4 different difficulties. Im not sure what difficulty they are on. But the difficulty can make a big difference and add a lot replayability. It's a lot of fun. And thise cutscenes are gorgeous.

Joe, are you out of your mind? It’s a classic beat ‘em up. Theyre all around 2 hours long give or take. The tmnt game from a few years ago that influenced this (and River City Girls) was also around that long. There are some challenges and achievements related to beating the game with multiple characters which adds some extra play and this game appears to have something like that. Is there no leveling up? Jesus Christ, dude. Have you played one of these games? No, there is no leveling up. The points are for getting the best high score. These were arcade games back in the day.
I can't believe how awful the animated scenes look. They are like bad artists from the 80's/90's created them - I see so much talent in terms of artwork here on UA-cam - that makes it unfathomable to me that they would put such an ugly thing in a game with any kind of profile, let alone one as well loved as GI Joe, when they could've hired so much better talent.
I mean 25 dollars isn't a bad price. I remember as a kid when SNES cartridges were 50-60 dollars. Heck, Killer Instinct, MK2 and Donkey Kong Country were all closer to 100 dollars. With inflation that'd be something ridiculous today, so yeah, moving to CD-ROM format and then slowly to completely digital has reduced prices a LOT from back then. But the quality here is pretty bad, like the intro alone was a huge warning sign and the combat against stun-lockable AFK damage sponges isn't really good gamepla.
AW man, there's a LEGIT cool Cobra Battlesuit that I had as a kid.... White and black like a stormtrooper, with guns and claws and shit... And they went with that..... Pinata.... Hoo boy.
I don't think 25 bucks is as bad as it sounds. These side scrolling action games are not that length. Streets of Rage 4 is the same price at around 3 hrs. Scott Pilgrim vs the World was way shorter overall and around 15 bucks. If you want game length, Holo X Cure is the longest among them and is free. The problem is probably that Wrath of Cobra just sucks.

A two hours game used to be Normal back in the 8bit and 16bit era games in the 1980s and 1990s. It is not normal for games to be this short today

Shredder's Revenge has 16 stages. Its probably one of the longest beat em up ever made. Beat em ups are judged by amount of levels not playtime.
