It did happen to him, he got a divorce papers from his wife as he was reading them , he soon to be ex- wife and ask him to take her back, so this was Travis Tritt answer to her .
Great voice, great throwback style. I always thought Travis Tritt was born in the wrong era...he began his career in the pop country 90's and was constantly having to fight producers wanting to mold him into what was popular. He would have done much better with the outlaws of the 70's or the neotraditionalists of the 80's. Funny story about this song...Mr. Tritt had criticized Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart as having no substance. Billy Ray in turn, replied "Here's a quarter..." As funny as it was, that was the 90's...pop had taken over and no one cared.
He had to quit performing this for years because people would throw quarters on the stage . One hit him in the head causing a gash that required stitches to close .
Hey Rockin Country Guy, this Tritt Jam is a real Road Warrior for me. Rollin down the highway, Travis and me singing full volume, not giving a shit. Perhaps not an admirable admission, but doing it always makes me feel good!
The song-title gives away the ironic meaning of this tune as the subject offers his estranged wife the price of a phone call to contact one of her exes. Romantic entanglements and their consequences are the staple ingredients of classic country songs and this one is no exception. Travis was part of a traditional movement in the 90's which infused the country scene with much needed vigor.. Another excellent reaction/rating, Don, and keep rockin' dat country.
Always enjoy your reactions Don. Another great Merle song that I cant find a review on is Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star. In the same era, Conway had a song I Just Spoke With The moon. Either are worth a listen.
@@RockN2Country I only recently discovered your channel. I've been a country fan for as long as I can remember...not popular here in San Francisco. It's fun to witness a new reaction to one if the playlists if my life. Music is medicine.
Man he has a great voice and that was a good song, hey I would like to request a song by Travis, and Marty Stuart, called "this one's gonna hurt for a long time" great country song think you will enjoy it, great request by the way! Thanks
Another song I always liked but didn't know who sang it. The phone call songs change in price over the years. Jim Reeves has Little Ole Dime. A really good one is 26 Cents by the Wilkersons. Today it would just be someone else on your Contacts list.
A good song to do for your country harts thing would be desperados, and on that note, did you know that there’s a whole album released in the 90s with country singers doing eagles songs
I think all music (all genre) comes from a place of pain or joy over things that have happened or things we believe may happen. After finding her husband with another woman, Loretta Lynn wrote "You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man."
Reminds me a little of "You're Wanted By The Police" by Junior Brown. Lighthearted but another song about an ex. If you haven't reacted to that one I'd suggest it.
😂 that’s funny Don! I’ve Also heard that same story about the fans throwing quarters. If I remember right, one of his bandmembers got hit in the eye or something with one.
And I know it’s a bit late but today would be my dads birthday, and I would appreciate it greatly if you could do Delbert McClinton when Rita leaves, it was his favorite and he used so tell me that he went to school with him and learned to play guitar from him
@RkF Not the way reactions work, for a number of reasons. First, it's a reaction video, so if folks want to hear an unadulterated song they should listen to the original, not a reaction which, by its very nature, warrants a reaction. Second, human memory doesn't work like a storage facility where we just store stuff up and grab it off the shelf whenever we want. By the time I'd get to the end of a song, twenty other thoughts would be competing for airtime. Third, we have to interrupt songs so we don't violate copyright laws, which require us to alter songs significantly. Fourth, I have fun commenting.

His whole early life was a country song. That explains the delivery. He still kills it. I still love seeing him in the smaller venues. Great show.

One of my favorite Travis Tritt songs!
This man has the most amazing voice ever. I love just about all of his music.
I don't know if you have ever heard Toby Keith's "I'll never smoke weed with Willie again" but it's worth a listen!
Denise Hughes agreed
Thanks for your continues love❤️ and support, that’s what keeps me going
How long have you been a fan of mine?

His daughter asked why you needed a quarter to call someone. He said it made him feel old.
He had to quit performing this for years because people would throw quarters on the stage . One hit him in the head causing a gash that required stitches to close .
Lol funny but not funny came on the comments to tell this story. One of the first songs I ever learned on guitar.
I used it in a dance hall decades ago.
I saw him when this came out in 1991 at Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth, TX.
I love Travis Tritt. He did a song called Outlaws Like Us with Hank Jr. & Waylon Jennings. You should check it out.

@JimBo Headspace Glad you’re enjoying this one. I’ve got a feeling you’re gonna LOVE tomorrow’s. You’ll see. Ha!!
TRAVIS IS A HELL OF ARTIST WE GO AND SEE HIM EVERY TIME HE COMES TO BILLY BOBS IN TEXAS HE HAS A SOULFUL VOICE AND PUTS ON THE BEST SHOWS!
The Travis Tritt/Garth Brook era was when my musical taste gradually went from from being rock based, to country based.
This one of my favorite from the 90's. Now this song doesn't apply since with all have cell phones.

I'm going to say that one day. Love the reaction.
Simple song, but I like it.
File this under "outdated songs" lol. Love it
And now I'll never hear this song again without laughing.
@wendy brennan Ha!! I mean, you’re welcome?

Guess he told her. Good song.
Try this: Eric Lee Bedingfield and " Gospel According to Jones " .
You should try his "Bible Belt".
Man he has a great voice and that was a good song, hey I would like to request a song by Travis, and Marty Stuart, called "this one's gonna hurt for a long time" great country song think you will enjoy it, great request by the way! Thanks
Needs to be modernized, " Here's a Phone card , call someone who cares" lol

Yup. I've got that disc around somewhere. Gonna have to check it out again. As I recall it was pretty good. Cheers, Steve

Please react to Travis tritt "more than you'll ever know "
Please do more Travis Tritt :-)
just about 13g subs good job morning Don HAKAD
@dan sigurdson Almost there, and you’ve been along for most of the ride!
Check out Wave On Wave by Pat Green. Any song by Travis Tritt is great
Good one, I second that! Ah I need a little Wave On Wave right now, going to go have a listen! 😁
Travis had to stop playing this song live because his fans kept throwing quarters on stage
@Frank Novack I wonder what they did with all of those quarters? Maybe should’ve changed the song to “Here’s A Dollar....”
😂 that’s funny Don! I’ve Also heard that same story about the fans throwing quarters. If I remember right, one of his bandmembers got hit in the eye or something with one.
Travis was the one hit it was above his eye and it left a scar
👍🏻 for some reason I was thinking it was a band member!
Too Gone For Too Long by Randy Travis is another song in the same vein with the same message.
That line is extra insulting nowadays because you can't place a call for a quarter anymore.
Something similar to this song happened with me back in HS turns out she preferred the running back from the football team over me
@Chris Tucker I hate it when that happens. ;-)
And I know it’s a bit late but today would be my dads birthday, and I would appreciate it greatly if you could do Delbert McClinton when Rita leaves, it was his favorite and he used so tell me that he went to school with him and learned to play guitar from him
Try country club by Travis
Try Billy Walker "I Saw Elvis at Wal Mart"
8.2
Have you done is a member of a country club
Ryan Bingham hallelujah
Dean Dillon is a very good song writter
What about 10 foot tall and boutlet proof
Shhhh! We're trying to listen to Travis. We get the jest of the song. You should save your commentary until after the song. K? K.
