If not his first single, it was one of his first. Mark came along in that period after the death of Kieth Whitley that left a hole in country music for Garth, Clint, Travis and so many others to be noticed. Mark was said to be the new George Jones back then.
Ironically enough, one of his biggest mentors wary in his career was Jones himself. The two had a special bond even up until the passing of the great George Jones.
The first concert I went to was Mark Chesnutt right after he released this, which was his first single. It was in a bar in Davis, Ok. I like "I Just Wanted You To Know", "Old Country", and the must-hear favorite is "I'll Think Of Something".
I always enjoyed Mark's George Jones-esque voice and really respected him for "keepin it Country". During the 90's when Country was becoming Pop garbage, Mark was threatened by his label to do a cheesy Aerosmith cover (I refuse to even name the song). After some back and forth, he finally agreed. When George Jones heard he had done this, he tore him a new one. Mark said he would never be pressured again and was dropped by his label when he refused their request for another pop cover. BTW, Bobby Harden wrote this song "Too Cold at Home" and his recording is on UA-cam.
I never heard that he was dropped. He does remind me of George Jones, but he also gets a little "easy lovin" by Freddie Hart in this one. I thought Alan Jackson might have had some trouble after he stopped singing his song and did the George Jones song in its entirety on one of those awards shows.
More than just listening to many of these old songs that I am familiar with, I enjoy your comments. Intelligent response is hard to come by these days. I do keep hoping you find a woman who deserves all you have to offer. If not......it is her loss.
I haven't heard this in years. I can't add much to what Disposable Hero has said, except one of my favorites, Randy Travis. I think he came along about that time. It certainly deserves the rating you gave. Boy did I love country music back then.
It would be terrible to live with a person who treated you cold so that you had a miserable home life. However, it might be even worse when you had a terrific home life and lived with a man who pretty much thought you hung the moon and that there was nothing you couldn't do and he was your best friend so that you neglected your friends and family not because he told you to but because you had everything you needed in that one great person...and then he dies. I felt like I put all my eggs in one basket because my husband was the only person I needed or wanted and when he died I sort of died with him. I came home from his funeral and sat down in a chair and pretty much didn't move for six months. I should have cultivated other friendships and relationships over the 31 years we were together so that when I lost him I wouldn't feel that I had just lost EVERYTHING. I feel like I didn't say that very well and maybe I didn't make you understand me but it would have been much easier for me when he died if he had been at least a bit of an SOB while he was living so that I didn't miss him so much.
This is a good classic country song with a great classic sound. I'll allow it for the lyric to work, but anyone who says its too hot to fish loses country cred instantly. Its never too hot to sit by the lake and drink cold beer.
I don't know, Billy. We fished in Canada, but it sometimes got too hot out on the lake around noon, and open containers were frowned on. My dad usually had an "eye opener" before going out in the early morning. After dark, it was cool, the mosquitoes were brutal and the bass were biting.
@@ralphwatts8993 I dont know what the face is for. I can only think of a couple other big ones that were really good. Almost Goodbye & ........I dont know. I'm sure hes a great guy though.

Marks song Bubba Shot The Jukebox
How about doing Independence Day by Martina McBride (or Gretchen Peters version since she wrote it)
I have a MC suggestion. IMO one of the best songs about Mama is "She Was". If you had a wonderful mother like I did you'll appreciate this song.
George Jones The Bird very funny very true
His voice remind`s me of Keith Whitley. Love this song.
You should do Concrete Angel and use the video.
I think I've been talking to Hank is a real good one of his.
I love the george jones version
feel like i just left psych class 101 lol
@steelermule That was one of the best posts in the five years I’ve been doing the channel! Thanks for the laugh and (possible) compliment-ha!
Would you react to Dwight yoakam “little sister” live version in Austin TX? It’s great!!
