Have always loved Kenny.
Absolutely perfect rating! His voice is superb, and agree, warm and welcoming is exactly what I pick up. I loved listening to him as a kid, but changed genres as a teen, so every time I hear him it's the feeling of a big warm hug from an old childhood friend. I'm so enjoying revisiting Kenny's music! Thanks Don!
"Coward of the County" is another great song by Kenny.
What a great tune ..... Kenny at his best.... great review/rating....... so much good advise
This one never gets old.
The first time I heard this song after Kenny died, I sobbed.
It was written by Don Schlitz. He has written many hits and is in the songwriters hall of fame
Don Schlitz was 26 when Kenny released the song, so I guess Don was incorrect in his thought that this must have been written by a more mature person.(thank God for Google, I'm not this smart, nor do I know everything)
I had to research who wrote this classic song and was surprised to read the following {Don Schlitz wrote this song in August 1976 when he was 23 years old} I dont knwo how true that may be, But such wise words from one so young in that case..
Love this song
Don Shilpa was only 23 when he wrote this gem.
K.t. Oslin past away a couple weeks ago. She was popular in the 90s . She was a songwriter/singer that did things her own way. She was better than the record shows. Please play something by her.
I could recommend ---
Hold me
80s ladies
Come next Monday- excellent video.
She was a fun talented lady.
@DaveG I've got a K.T. reaction lined up. I was actually gonna do "80's Ladies" a couple of weeks ago but none of the versions were good quality. I picked a different one and I'll have it up this week. And of course, Happy New Year!!
Paint me a Birmingham-tracy Lawrence
Thank you for doing the song and the shout out. My name is pronounced Sef gee. Pretty good try.
This song is in the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress.
There is a movie, The Gambler, starring Kenny. In fact there are several in a series. Turns out Kenny was a pretty good actor as well as a great singer. They are all on Utube
Hey Don! Best rating ever.

Great rating for a great song, singer, and writer.

Great song that I’ve heard many times. I always enjoy seeing your reactions and hearing your reviews and point of view. Not sure if anyone else does this but I find myself trying to give it a rating moments before you do to see if we’re close, for example on this one, “this has to be a 9.5-10”, lol. Happy New Year and keep the videos coming. How about a video on Auld Lang Syne for the new year? Thanks!
There's several of us that try to rate or guess Dons rating. I just love this channel.
@Mark Sanson Thank you for the huge smile! I love that folks will comment on what I've rated a song and sometimes try to guess what I'm gonna say. Some folks have gotten really good at reading me and predicting it, but every so often I throw a curve ball and go higher or lower. It's part of the fun. Thank you for the kind words, and welcome to the channel!
I'd love for you to react to "Family Tree" by Wheeler Walker Jr. He's become my favorite artist over the last few months. Just a suggestion. Have a great new years
Please play/review, "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town". Thanks.
Ah, it was written by Don Schlitz. I used to work with his ex-wife. (She did very well in the divorce, as he wrote and sold the song while they were married). I did see him (Don) at the Bluebird Cafe once, and he is very talented. But no, Kenny did not write this.
As I understand it the turnpike troubadours are back under the name kyle nix he did fiddle for the band. The rest of the band plays back up or so it says on youtube don't know if Felker is in it or not
his youtube about selection says "After years of playing fiddle with the Oklahoma-based country outfit the Turnpike Troubadours, Kyle Nix has emerged with a new role on his debut solo album, Lightning on the Mountain & Other Short Stories. You will hear most of the Troubadours roaring as his backing band on the record but this isn’t an uninspired spin-off or half-baked reboot of a good thing. Lightning on the Mountain has an identity entirely it’s own- a western-inspired collection of literary songs, which tell stories from Nix’s own history as well as of the many unique characters he “may or may not have encountered” throughout his years on the road."
This was written by Don Schlitz. He was around his mid 20s when this was released
There's 5 movies of The Gambler with Kenny Rogers. You should definitely watch it
