I could never beat the alien boss to finish this game but the satisfaction that I could make it that far was more than enough to bring a smile to my face. I wish those days would come back.

Although it was hardware that was almost inconceivable to get on your desk back then, which made the Arcade games that much more precious than home gaming. Graphicswise, Metal Slug back then can be compared to Rayman Legends today. The details in those games, on scenery and individual animations equally, are incredible.

Haloy There you can take no dmg n that fight, you can get out of the tank, the difficulty set on the game he played seems really low tho, the 3rd boss died with using just one yellow light attack.... lol
Entering or jumping out of the tank gives a couple of seconds of invulnerability, so you can defeat the boss without losing lives or damaging the tank. It seems like he lowered the difficult, because Rootmars's orbs are actually faster than this video shows. In normal and hard difficult is almost mandatory to not damage the tank if you want to dodge the orbs attack.
this game series definitely Unique among Run'n'Gun games i just love how they have Extra Animations that were animated smoothly like WHOA~! not to mention,this was a Japanese game but the Character Select screen makes it was made by America XD
I mean this game is about American super soldier (cuz let's be honest no normal human can gone through all of that) with a pistol never runs out of bullet vs Nazi and alien so i could see where they were going with this theme 😅

I discovered this game a few years ago but never got to play it all I saw was all bosses videos but now a few days ago I got metal slug attack and I just bought metal slug 3 and beat it on my switch
what I love so much about these bosses metal slug 3 is the creepy and unsettling designs (especially the final boss). Like, these bosses are creative! even the mechanical tank bosses in the previous games too! I can really see the developers had fun with this game.

They were indeed putting a lot of effort into that pixel art, especially the 2nd boss, so many different frames of animations of the aliens!

You don't need to dodge the bombings in the helicopter boss, you can shoot only those that are falling in your position with the turret.
