I love Carrionvoy for 2 reasons: one, as it charges and moves towards you, the background and foreground have the shadows/silhouettes of the other parts of the train moving. Two: because it’s quietly implied that you have been fighting across Carrionvoy’s back throughout the level
The train is obviously based upon a real old 1960s-1980s soviet-era train, though it's hard to say which type exactly, since they look similiar during their technological evolution and the game mixes facts with fiction anyway. "ER9 electric trainset" , VL8, etc., there are dozens of variants and types ...

There is only one game design that I have a truly love-hate relationship with.. and that is the design similar to that of The Iron Meat - the last boss. Not the gore, but the skeleton design facing the camera with the uncanny motion. I have always "hated" this ever since the Contra 3 skeleton boss. It made me piss myself then and it still gives me an unpleasant feeling today. It's just so damn cool.. but at the same time terrifying.

When the Iron Meat is defeated, it stops controlling or commanding the Meat, leaving it brainless, though still a threat, hence why the ending is the Meat being cleared out. The scientist or Xenobiologist (whichever you prefer), is more of a general for the Meat; a powerful member that commands and masterminds, but still answers to a higher power( The Iron Meat)
