Decided to rebuild and reinstall my A.I.R. / Smog Pump on my 84 C4 Crossfire Corvette

Sent my A.I.R. (Air Injector Reactor) / Smog Pump out to Oregon State to get it rebuilt as it is a one year only pump and no one has them. Fortunately Marvelous Parts was still rebuilding them.

I bought a rebuild kit for mine on EBay. Haven’t rebuilt yet.

I was going to rebuild mine but when I took it apart I found that the front bearing surface had a serrated edge and it was glued into the housing. I tried to find a bearing with a serrated edge but couldn't find one anywhere. When I called the rebuilder he laughed and confirmed that the bearing was indeed glued and serrated so I just sent it out to have him rebuild it. He said I can't believe you got it apart without cracking the front housing. Thanks for watching!

Still running with my factory 84 Air pump. Did you have some warning before yours went out?

That's awesome yours still works. I had No warning at all, Came to a stop sign and the car stalled went to restart it and it seemed like a dead battery. The battery was old so I just went to the store and got another one only to find out now it started but the belt was smoking bad. Thanks for watching!
