Real time, whole job, done and explained from start to finish
As an old man DIYer i've learned a lots,,,by far great vid. step by step power steering pump replacement ,,, many thanks
Glad it helped and thank you for watching!!
There is a common problem on Honda's of the O-rings on the inlet hose getting hard and allowing air into the system. That is the sound you might have heard. Always worth trying new o-rings before replacing the pump.
Thanks Steve! Excellent suggestion.
Oooh, good tip. My steering will be pretty normal (a bit tough) one minute and rock hard the next. I kind of thought there might have been air in the system and that might explain why.
Explained very well and your calm voice was a plus 👍🏻Thanks for your time making this video
My pleasure. Kind of one of the more enjoyable jobs to do. 🙂
Thanks for sharing your video. One of the best videos I've seen on auto repair. Very meticulous.
Thanks the the feedback and I hope it was helpful for you!
Best power steering pump video I’ve seen. Thank you.
My pleasure and thank you for the kind words!
THANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR THE VERY DETAILED VIDEO. MUCH APPRECIATED.

Excellent, precise, no fluff, just what we needed to know to make this repair. Thank you!!
My pleasure, @ldboehm. Best of luck on your repair!
@@lmsdiy thx. I'm trying just the o-ring replacement 1st. Whine is now gone. Now to see if fluid level remains full.
Thx again
You did a great job and your explanation where perfect too.
Thanks and much appreciated! I hope it was helpful. 🙂
BRAVO !
Outstanding....
You spent additional effort making sure each step was right. HERO !
Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated! 👍
Thank you. Probably the best DIY video on cars. Also very polite. Keep it up. 👍🏽
Thank you so much and very happy to hear it was helpful! 🙂
If you get it on time you can just replace the o ring on the low pressure end plastic piece on the pump
I just bought an 03 Pilot yesterday, and need to replace the pump.. just in time. Thanks!
No problem. Best of luck!
@@lmsdiy repair went great. Had to take the old one to a Firestone to get the pulley off though. The nut would not move and didn't have leverage to use a socket. That was the hardest part. I REALLY need to invest in some impact tools. Makes love so much easier
@@cweathersby Glad to hear you got it replaced. Power tools definitely help and I was lucky I had a power steering pulley removal tool on-hand but didn't need it!
Yes! Thank you! Very easy to follow, replacing mine today, your video was excellent help!
Glad it helped! Best of luck and please share how your replacement goes!
Such a helpful video. Going to do it my wife’s 2005 Pilot. Thanks!!!

My pleasure. Very happy to hear that it was helpful!
Great one if not the best one - at least it is better than all others I watched. Thank you.
Wow, thanks! Hope it helps. 🙂
This is for 2005-2008. On the 03 and 04 models the pump is on a separate belt rather than the serpentine.
Thank you for adding that comment, @jeffthehokie! 👍 I was not aware of that, sorry.
solid content. totally confident i can change this now. :) thanks.
Awesome. I'm sure you will get it done no problem! Good luck 👍
HOPEFULLY THIS IS A GOOD REFRENCE TO MY 08 TL TYPE S
I actually work regularly on a 2005 Acura TL. The engines are different between the TL and this Honda PIlot and, interestingly, I have replaced a power steering pump on that 2005 TL I referred to. It's different but actually not vastly different. Best of luck and let us know how it goes!
Good video. Expecting more videos like this one.
THANKS 😀
Thanks for your very detailed video and I wish you can do for my pilot.
Hi @douglaskim6611 what year Honda Pilot do you have?

My pleasure! I'm glad it was helpful! 🙂
great video, going to use it to save $700 that the shop would have charged me
Awesome! Have fun!
Thanks!
good video my man
Thank you! 🙏
Great video, quality video imagery and audio
Thanks very much and hope it was helpful!
I appreciate the help with my wife. 07 Honda pilot watching your videos has made it so much easier. I just replaced the power steering pump had the pulley from the old one and I’m still getting a squalling noise. Any suggestions?
Just want to confirm the diagnosis is the power steering? Not a whining like from the alternator or an idler pulley?
I have another video coming soon where I incorrectly diagnosed a belt whining to be belt tensioner when it turned out to be alternator. Just wondering if you are experiencing the same.
Great Vidieo very helpful
Thank you! Glad it helped you. 🙂
Could have saved a bunch of money instead of going to the Dealer. Thank you!!!
My pleasure! It’s a pretty straightforward replacement job. 🙂
Why went the power steering bottle presure builds up it leaks from the pump
"Hello, I'm your subscriber from Indonesia, please help, when I have a new car, replace the high pressure hose on my power steer pump because initially there was an oil leak.
But after I changed my steering wheel, if I made it turn left or right, there was a buzzing sound that could be felt in the car cabin.
Where does this come from? I tried consulting with a repair shop and they said my power pump was damaged. In your opinion, is the mechanical analysis in Indonesia correct? And finally, can my power pump be repaired and what parts do you think need to be replaced? Thank you very much in advance, I am waiting to hear from you. GBU."
I saw another video, where the guy released belt tension on top (2 bolts to adjust tension I believe... know of this method?
I think it depends on the engine and belt tensioner type. I have done this on farm equipment like sweepers but I've not come across this on any automotive engines that I've personally worked on.
Is the fluid getting on the belt anything to be concerned about?
Although power steering fluid isn’t good for the belt (or any rubber or paint), a tiny bit isn’t a huge concern but best practice would be to try to wipe it off with a rag.
Didvyou get the new pump from honda?
It was a remanufactured part but I didn’t get it from Honda so actually I’m not sure if it’s remanufactured genuine Honda or remanufactured aftermarket.
Where do you get the aftermarket remanufactured pump ?
Any local auto parts shop, really. You can also buy it online at rockauto or amazon or eBay probably too.
How much should this cost if a mechanic does it?
Around here I would estimate $500 for parts, materials, and labor.

Hello, to be completely honest with you, I would trust the opinion of a licensed repair shop that has seen and diagnosed your vehicle over me, a DIY guy in Canada who has no access to your vehicle.
I really can't offer you an appropriate opinion on this. I'm sorry but I would rather you and your family be safe and check with a local licensed repair shop on that issue.
According to your analysis, my steering pump is the couse of the humming sound ? And the repair shop that handles my car also confused about analysing the couse of the sound because before replacing the high pressure hose there was no sound .
@@darmawanwardhana1836 hello, unfortunately I cannot offer you a diagnosis over the Internet. I recommend you have your vehicle inspected by a licensed service technician in Indonesia. 🙂
