Just wanted to say I love this Chanel theres so much monte carlo tutorials with door panels and window motors I'm really grateful for such amazing videos
I appreciate that you showed the *wrong* way.
@@xxdeadxangelx6150l open
DON'T, and I repeat DO NOT, watch this video without sound!
This made me even less confident in wanting to clean my engine 😂😂
Honestly lmao
Me too
It really did!😁
and I came here for confidence 😂😂😂
Can't spray anything from what it seems like I stay with rags and hand cleaning
Andy woke up this morning and chose violence
🤣 sometimes it’s just one of those days.
thank god he chose a 6 cylinder those things never bresk
Lmaooooo
😂
😆
I'm surprised this motor is running after Andy's water assault.
Did he wash ot while running, if you wash it at a car wash, at a good safe distance. Well, how likely is this to have a cracked whatever... proably while it is off with low pressure, very nice spray misting, gently.
because it's the power tech 4.0L inline 6
@@joelafleur6423 Amen. Those 4.0L I-6s are beasts. I love mine.
don't do this... proceeds to do exactly Lol that's so funny. Love these videos
🤣👍
😂😂😂😂
🤣
Maybe they're playing with their extra extra car👀
That alternator was crying for help
*customer walks in* "Hey Andy, just checking to see if you're done replacing the alternator on my jeep chero- 😲"
hahhahahhaha
🤣🤣😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
I’m convinced he demonstrated the wrongs in this video on someone else’s car to get revenge on someone. He chose to show us the right way of doing things just so we wouldn’t suspect him of doing a crime.
😂😂😂🤣
😂😂😂
Being deaf I followed your very cool video instruction. Very clear visual instructions on how to deep clean the alternator, fuse box etc. Thanks!

So, basically what I've learned is that, while I shouldn't spray down the engine compartment, It will be fine for the most part if I do 🤣
So in other words, DONT spray your engine.
I have never been so uncomfortable in my life.
🤣
Lol. It was almost torture to watch. Me: "He's not really going to spray INSIDE the fuse box, is he?." Andy: "Watch this..."
I did this trick on both of my cars that were way overdue on a cleanup. I used a small bucket of water, handful of crappy towels, a wax applicator, simple green, and dawn power wash. It worked pretty damn good. I Topped it off with Chemical Guys Tire Kicker Shine that's good on plastics. I did this over the summer and the engines are still pretty clean.
Keep in mind that since you are cleaning your engine bay you could lift old oil gunk that is potentially preventing an oil leak. So if you start seeing a leak after washing your engine bay, just figure out where it comes from and fix it.
If it's cheap if not try AT -205 :-)
car owner: "I am not gonna mess with all this. I gotta guy that can clean engine bays for 10 bucks."
that guy that clean engine bays for 10 bucks: 0:00 - 0:04
🤣🤣
I worked at a car wash and lube shop, one of the detail guys told me he would do my Yamaha R6 it was a 2004 for 20 bucks, So i let him...... it wouldn't start for hours afterwards and i ended up spending 1200 replacing a whole lot of things that didnt like water being sprayed into it. 🤣🤣🤣 lesson learned the hard way.
Strangely satisfying watching him do all the wrong things as he says not to do them.
I bet he had a blast breaking all the rules...for science 🤣
Read my mind😂😅
Was that his ex wife's car or something?
Thanks for this. I have wanted to clean my engine for a while but was reluctant cause I didn't want to damage it. Now I know how to do so correctly. 🤪😃
its funny watching you guys tutorial videos because you always do what you tell us not to do 🤣
That 4.0 won’t die easily as u think. I soaked the whole engine in a river and surprisingly it runs better than before. Pressure washed every week and no problem…..yet
Same. The alternator hated the baths though.
I feel like you're subconsciously telling me to actually do it that way ...
I'm a mechanic by trade and he convinced me subconsciously to wash engines like that lmao
I've owned a car wash for over 20 years in that time I've had 2 customers spray engine degreaser on a hot motor then they've caught fire luckily the pumps were running and they were able to stop the fire before it really got going😂
1A Auto is one of the best car repair educational channels on youtube.
Glad you're doing this on a POS Jeep, but it still was giving me anxiety XD
This dude is an absolute Savage for 4 minutes straight lol
The anxiety is real
As a mechanic I saw a old man drive up to the shop. His engine was hot as Hades. He grabbed a water hose and sprayed it down. And I thought it was going to burst into Peace's.
Stream went everywhere , he even had to stand back. If he had removed the radiator cap I'm positive it would have killed him dead.
+Alton Rowell Thanks for the feedback!
The beginning of this gave me such anxiety, so glad you finished the video the correct way 👍
Could you make a video on what not to do when pumping gas?
God answered my prayer , it's video was what I needed thanks lot 1A Auto and all your stuff for your great work and content 😊👍
Andy, thank you so much for this. I appreciate the new added humor in your videos. A car salesman told me and keep in mind Carl salesman that you should always do it with the engine running but you say that’s wrong so I won’t do it that way thank you.
Never spray your engine with a water hose. I see so called “pro” detainers doing this. Absolutely insane. Great video.
Thanks!. Well, I couldn't have the sound on while playing this, I watched the video muted... But I'm a visual learner; and I think that's pretty much what I needed to see to do it myself. I'll try it later. Again, thanks so much!
Hopefully you didn't learn off the first half where he was showing 'what not to do'
Aha! Good tips! I think in general we should avoid even spraying the engine area, as in only do it for every 5th time you spray the rest of the car. It's just too risky and is not worth it. I mean, who is going to complain that your engine is not as sparkly clean and shiny as the external body of your vehicle? 🤣
+ThankYou God Thanks for the feedback!
I agree. Read my post. Cost me $500 to get towed out of car wash cleaning bay and a new starter. Never again will I clean an engine in a wash bay. Do it at home and let it air dry for awhile.
Auto repair tips are really helpful, thanks
Exactly what we needed, thank you so much
I had no idea Matthew Lillard knew so much about cleaning engine bays!
Ow yeah i really appreciate this, at last found a reliable channel with this one.
I hgihly dont recommend such detailing / wash over process in car's engine bay, tho other does
since they say it is completely sealed, but for any reason and for safety as well as you can sleep well at night,
Very same thoughts of me from this content man.
Just don't do washing over any full water with or with out pressure.
Just clean it with wet rag, different brushes size and vacuum + blower are complete good enough to clean engine bay.
Been many to many engine issues specially coilpacks from our client, really a bad idea that they ain't know that they where kinda scam, or they followed Facebook's posts that doing same process for engine detail.
Thanks for this, keep it up!
I washed my vehicles for more then 50 years on the car wash and tne engine with car running never on my life had problems specially on the snow underneath i still have same vehicles for over 25 years
I know water won't damage vehicles
Salt on the roads does
Truly professional for DIY to follow and not like others taking a short cut spraying water on electrical components, just causing long term damage. Thanks so much for highlighting the wrongs using an old car..

Degrease everything besides alternator or exposed air filter / intake, agitate with brush pressure wash, blow dry, spray UV protection, run the engine to dry
You can take off the air filter and spray it with degreaser. Then air blow the filter until it is dry. Then you can put it back in.
This video is hilarious. I like this guy. Actually demonstrates what not to do. Good experiment. Would love to know what kind of bad results were had from the wrong way!
Great tutorial on how to clean the inside of the oil dipstick tube.
why do you guys hate that Jeep 4.0 so much?? Waste of an inline 6!
Great video and funky at the same time. Now added to my personal DIY LIST😁
Tells us everything not to do...
*proceeds to do this*
Just wana say I love this chanel theres alot of 01 through 2005 monte carlo things I need to take care of
Well explained, I have never been a fan of spraying the engine bay down. Just a nice little wipe down is good enough under there.
It's night time and i am glad i had the volume up lol
Him doing it the wrong way spiked my anxiety through the roof.
Great job explaining everything also great example.thanks so much.😊
DAMB!!! Oh thought Freddy Kruger was scary, this guy is downright terrifying!!!
FOR SALE: Used maroon Jeep. Excellent condition. Super clean engine. Driven on Sundays only for church group. No lowballers.
I searched how to clean engine and I see my 2004 Jeep GC. Awesome. 😃 Well mine's gray. Glad you showed my car so I know what to avoid 👍. She's still "young" at 120k miles. Those 4.0L I-6s are tough monsters. I wonder if that Toyota would have survived that same water assault haha.
I love how he tells you you don’t want to do that and then does it anyway
The worst part is even after spraying everything, it still looked dirty af lol.
Definitely not the best method for many reasons
Honestly, as a visual learner, this helped. Thanks!
Best video channel on DIY car fixes!!! Love these vids
Great video. I was cringing watching the first half but learned a lot. Thanks!
Always put a plastic bad over alternator to keep it dry and avoid other electronics
Meanwhile, the guy watching the first half without audio and no subtitles.... 🤣
-Hmm. Looks easy enough.
This is the best video this channel has produced
I’ve always sprayed with pressure washer and never had a problem. I was always careful not to spray using intense focused water pressure on those sensitive areas
As a visual learner I thank you.
+K. M. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Folks, think about what happens under the hood when you drive into a rain storm.
So, when can I pick up my clean Cherokee? 😂
Bro Keep Telling Not to Do While Doing it .... Legend!
Thank you for sharing this video 😊
Iaughed so hard at minute 3:38 , definitely subscribe 👍
Thank you so much for the advice and tips on what I needed to know ❤
Me, the whole time he's spraying everything: 😱
Me, when I realized it's just a jeep compass: "well done, Andy"
So just don’t???? Lol
This video is PURE STRESS. Why do you do this to me, Andy?
Remember Fire Marshall Bill from In Living Color? This guy is just like him. Tells you what not to do and then proceeds to do it himself 😂🤣
Thank you
Thank you!
Andy or (anyone), I made the mistake of spaying down leaves/debris on the cowl. And tho I did manually remove the larger leaves/debris from the cowl first, I now have a lingering smell of moisture in the car/cabin. Any ideas how to remedy? Would changing the cabin filer help? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for making me laugh, I needed that today! When i saw you putting water all on your engine, I was like, what is he doing... you had me busting up laughing. Your right don't spray water ALL OVER your engine. :)
I like how he goes ahead and executes the "don'ts". I'm even more distracted by the "John Malkovich" tone of voice, demeanor and looks. 😂😂😂
Thank you.
Great video. I spent the first three or four minutes yelling, “Stop! Stop!”😂
+David Fowler Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Very helpful my boy 💪🏾
Some of y’all never drive in the rain & it shows ;)
Excellent. Thank you.
The funniest video of the day, the guy telling us not to do it, but boy does he make it look fun... I think, I'm going to have a grand adventure with all three of my cars today. I'll let you know how it all turns out 😁😋😈🙉 shenanigans!!!! Lol 😂
My deaf friend: I follow the instructional video and my car goes kaboom
I love it! Sounds like common sense is necessary to do this. Great video. My poor old 145,000 mile mustang is filthy.
I wanted to see the "Don't get your fingers caught under the hood when you latch it shut" segment.
Dave was unaware of what Uncle Ian had done to his daily driver, he’ll never see those chipmunks again.
there should be a disclaimer at the beginning of this video 😂😂😂, the way my anxiety was acting up, as he ACTIVELY did what he was saying not to do😮.
This video is giving me anxiety 🤦🏽♂️ thanks Andy!
Bro this is one of the best videos I’ve seen
thanks i needed this today
In other words when it comes to heavy cleaning leave the engine compartment alone.
I stuff 1-2 microfiber towels into the air intake to prevent water from getting inside . Miranda Detailing [ UA-cam ] says cracking an engine by spraying cold water is not an issue , nowadays . After my egine is dry , I liberally spray 303 Protectant all over . As this will resist cracking and drying out of rubber and plastic components . And makes sense to not spray debris out of engine area / below windshield , but vacuum it out . Since my car is parked across the parking lot . I'll buy a cordless vacuum to do so , Milwaukee .
😂😂😂 the first part of the video is a classic !
I like my Car Engine Clean… Awesome Video.💯
I come here just to learn which parts I shouldn’t spray water on but after I watched your video I no longer care! 😂😂😂😂
Great tips
This was just fun to watch 🤣
