Just wanted to say I love this Chanel theres so much monte carlo tutorials with door panels and window motors I'm really grateful for such amazing videos
I’m convinced he demonstrated the wrongs in this video on someone else’s car to get revenge on someone. He chose to show us the right way of doing things just so we wouldn’t suspect him of doing a crime.
Did he wash ot while running, if you wash it at a car wash, at a good safe distance. Well, how likely is this to have a cracked whatever... proably while it is off with low pressure, very nice spray misting, gently.

car owner: "I am not gonna mess with all this. I gotta guy that can clean engine bays for 10 bucks." that guy that clean engine bays for 10 bucks: 0:00 - 0:04
I worked at a car wash and lube shop, one of the detail guys told me he would do my Yamaha R6 it was a 2004 for 20 bucks, So i let him...... it wouldn't start for hours afterwards and i ended up spending 1200 replacing a whole lot of things that didnt like water being sprayed into it. 🤣🤣🤣 lesson learned the hard way.
I did this trick on both of my cars that were way overdue on a cleanup. I used a small bucket of water, handful of crappy towels, a wax applicator, simple green, and dawn power wash. It worked pretty damn good. I Topped it off with Chemical Guys Tire Kicker Shine that's good on plastics. I did this over the summer and the engines are still pretty clean.
Keep in mind that since you are cleaning your engine bay you could lift old oil gunk that is potentially preventing an oil leak. So if you start seeing a leak after washing your engine bay, just figure out where it comes from and fix it.
That 4.0 won’t die easily as u think. I soaked the whole engine in a river and surprisingly it runs better than before. Pressure washed every week and no problem…..yet
Thanks for this. I have wanted to clean my engine for a while but was reluctant cause I didn't want to damage it. Now I know how to do so correctly. 🤪😃
I've owned a car wash for over 20 years in that time I've had 2 customers spray engine degreaser on a hot motor then they've caught fire luckily the pumps were running and they were able to stop the fire before it really got going😂
As a mechanic I saw a old man drive up to the shop. His engine was hot as Hades. He grabbed a water hose and sprayed it down. And I thought it was going to burst into Peace's. Stream went everywhere , he even had to stand back. If he had removed the radiator cap I'm positive it would have killed him dead.
Ow yeah i really appreciate this, at last found a reliable channel with this one. I hgihly dont recommend such detailing / wash over process in car's engine bay, tho other does since they say it is completely sealed, but for any reason and for safety as well as you can sleep well at night, Very same thoughts of me from this content man. Just don't do washing over any full water with or with out pressure. Just clean it with wet rag, different brushes size and vacuum + blower are complete good enough to clean engine bay. Been many to many engine issues specially coilpacks from our client, really a bad idea that they ain't know that they where kinda scam, or they followed Facebook's posts that doing same process for engine detail. Thanks for this, keep it up!
Aha! Good tips! I think in general we should avoid even spraying the engine area, as in only do it for every 5th time you spray the rest of the car. It's just too risky and is not worth it. I mean, who is going to complain that your engine is not as sparkly clean and shiny as the external body of your vehicle? 🤣
I agree. Read my post. Cost me $500 to get towed out of car wash cleaning bay and a new starter. Never again will I clean an engine in a wash bay. Do it at home and let it air dry for awhile.
Thanks!. Well, I couldn't have the sound on while playing this, I watched the video muted... But I'm a visual learner; and I think that's pretty much what I needed to see to do it myself. I'll try it later. Again, thanks so much!
Truly professional for DIY to follow and not like others taking a short cut spraying water on electrical components, just causing long term damage. Thanks so much for highlighting the wrongs using an old car..

I’ve always sprayed with pressure washer and never had a problem. I was always careful not to spray using intense focused water pressure on those sensitive areas
This video is hilarious. I like this guy. Actually demonstrates what not to do. Good experiment. Would love to know what kind of bad results were had from the wrong way!
This was a very good informational video I just would have liked him to show how you rinse it off lightly but other than that very informative The best one I've actually seen
I washed my vehicles for more then 50 years on the car wash and tne engine with car running never on my life had problems specially on the snow underneath i still have same vehicles for over 25 years I know water won't damage vehicles Salt on the roads does
Andy, thank you so much for this. I appreciate the new added humor in your videos. A car salesman told me and keep in mind Carl salesman that you should always do it with the engine running but you say that’s wrong so I won’t do it that way thank you.
The funniest video of the day, the guy telling us not to do it, but boy does he make it look fun... I think, I'm going to have a grand adventure with all three of my cars today. I'll let you know how it all turns out 😁😋😈🙉 shenanigans!!!! Lol 😂
I searched how to clean engine and I see my 2004 Jeep GC. Awesome. 😃 Well mine's gray. Glad you showed my car so I know what to avoid 👍. She's still "young" at 120k miles. Those 4.0L I-6s are tough monsters. I wonder if that Toyota would have survived that same water assault haha.
Great video, Andy!I am looking to install my engine air filter and cabin air filter, myself, in my 2019 Impala. How would I clean the engine housing box and the passenger compartment before putting in the new filters, would I have to vacuum, and is using car wipes, too? My model is a 2.5L 4 cylinder LS.
Just use a vacuum on the air box once you have the old air filter out. Get all the loose debris out before putting the new one in. Cabin filter is a small slit, you can also vacuum around that, though it's not as big and easy to get at as the air filter. You can get some of the loose dust around the opening but there is no "box" to clean up. Just putt out the old, slip in the new, close it up and you're done. Make sure you close up and clamp everything back down proper on both naturally.
Ya know this is exactly how dealerships and car lots get their engine bays cleaned!! Just make sure you use air to blow off excess water.. the engine bay is made to have water all in it from storms and flooding,so it's not really an issue,BUT there is always a chance..
Thank you for making me laugh, I needed that today! When i saw you putting water all on your engine, I was like, what is he doing... you had me busting up laughing. Your right don't spray water ALL OVER your engine. :)
Years ago, I took my vehicle to a car wash to clean the engine. It wouldn't start after I washed it. Long story short...I burned the starter up trying to get it started and I had to call my AAA to have me towed out of the wash bay and tow it to my local mechanic. That was embarrassing. Ended up costing me $500 for a new starter and to dry out other wet parts. I'm real leery of washing my engine's now. I have done so, but I do them now in my driveway and let them air dry in the sun for about 20 before I attempts to start them.
Ever since I had a run in with a long muddy dirt road I had to drive my engine has been covered in mud,I’ve cleaned up what I could with a rag but I need to spray it straight up to truly get rid of everything. I guess im going to try it out now hopefully it survives
Andy or (anyone), I made the mistake of spaying down leaves/debris on the cowl. And tho I did manually remove the larger leaves/debris from the cowl first, I now have a lingering smell of moisture in the car/cabin. Any ideas how to remedy? Would changing the cabin filer help? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Hey guys! A quick question. How about not spraying it with degreaser. What If I just put a bit on the brush and apply small doses until I'm finished brushing/degreasing. I really don't want to ruin the engine. Also, what if I don't use water to remove the left over dirt, how about wet fiber towels. Thanks in advance to the people who answer.
I like your video, but I would have been more interested to know the whys of not spraying in areas, like the serpentine belt area for example. Can you damage the engine belt pulley bearings, if you hose them down with a garden hose with the engine off?

This made me even less confident in wanting to clean my engine 😂😂
Honestly lmao
Me too
It really did!😁
and I came here for confidence 😂😂😂
Can't spray anything from what it seems like I stay with rags and hand cleaning
So, basically what I've learned is that, while I shouldn't spray down the engine compartment, It will be fine for the most part if I do 🤣
I’m convinced he demonstrated the wrongs in this video on someone else’s car to get revenge on someone. He chose to show us the right way of doing things just so we wouldn’t suspect him of doing a crime.

I'm surprised this motor is running after Andy's water assault.

I feel like you're subconsciously telling me to actually do it that way ...
I'm a mechanic by trade and he convinced me subconsciously to wash engines like that lmao
That 4.0 won’t die easily as u think. I soaked the whole engine in a river and surprisingly it runs better than before. Pressure washed every week and no problem…..yet
Same. The alternator hated the baths though.
Strangely satisfying watching him do all the wrong things as he says not to do them.
I bet he had a blast breaking all the rules...for science 🤣

Never spray your engine with a water hose. I see so called “pro” detainers doing this. Absolutely insane. Great video.

All the dirt and debris is stuck on filters so just replace and clean any loose debris
Thank you, guys! I appreciate all of the feedbacks from you all, it's a great help! God Bless you all, and hopefully we will talk again.
vacuum and good on you for not paying someone $200 to do it when it takes 15-30 min and filters are inexpensive as well

Should I disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal prior to cleaning the bay?
+Robert Peterson Thanks for watching! If you are planning on really cleaning everything then it is best to remove the battery from the vehicle!

Use a water based protectant, not solvent based. Your mechanic will thank me when they work on your next engine repair/maintenance.

Should have just let the engine bay heat evaporate the water that was causing the no start.
