This channel will be dedicated to rebuilding all aspects of a 1984 C4 Cross Fire Injection Corvette, but most of the information seen here other than engine management is similar to most C4 Corvettes that were made between 1984 to 1996.
Explanation and Diagnosis of relays
Thought I would try to explain how relays work and how to diagnose them. I have several diierent style relays from 4 pin on/off to 6 pin low/high speed to control something like a 2 speed fan.

I bought this 40 year old Honda Interceptor VF700F because I love V4 motorcycles from that time frame as I owned a VF750S Sabre and a VF1100C Magna back in the day. This bike hasn't run in at least 5 years from what I have been told and maybe longer.

How to remove a early C4 Corvette door panel.

Some say my last video on the door panel sucked which it did, So I decided to make another one since I had to adjust the window in to stop a small water leak. Unfortunately the part of the video where I adjusted the window didn't come out. Some day I will understand how a camera works and what angles to shoot from.

I have really enjoyed this project and the car looks and runs great. I bought this car more to rebuild it than drive it. As a old mechanic it gave me something to do. Thanks for making this video. Gave me great insight.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
I just cut the converter out and welded the return tube shut, did it about a month ago and just the other day threw a check engine light.
What code do you have?
@ haven’t had it checked, but im assuming its either o2 or something to do with the smog pump sensors.
@@on1yone1nchw1de3 If you get the code I can help you diagnose your problem.
@ i gotta grab an obd1 scanner and ill see what i can pull. Appreciate it.

I was thinking (plan was to just reseal the engine) if I´ll do the valve job too after removal of first head on my 1991 C4 and thanks to you I got confidence to do it by myself... am pretty capable technician with a tons of experiences, but never did valves (well I did two decades ago). BIG THANK YOU for this video!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
All your videos are excellent and helpful for doing all this rebuild and maintenance type of work! Many thanks!

I have seen your video and I liked them I also have several videos on doing this procedure with both a water manometer and a digital meter this video was done more to show off his car as he is from New Zealand and asked me if he could stop by one morning and look at it for him. Thought it was a cool car but I do way more Vette stuff then F body's. Check out my channel and you can find several in depth videos on rebuilding and adjusting Cross fire cars. Very helpful . So just disconnect the gray plug and twist the knob . Leave the others plugged in correct ?
Yes, the other two don't need to be disconnected. You are just disconnecting the power and ground to the motor so that it wont try to open as you manually close it or visa versa dedending on which way the headlight switch is pulled. Thanks for watching!

That was awesome to get it started. the bike sounded pretty darn good, i guess we will see what you have to do to get it going again. Man that bike is so sweet, take care.

I had todo this on my v65 magna a few years ago. Didn’t separate but got them all cleaned. Spent half the day getting them back on the bike and started up and the crossover fuel lines were leaking now. So back off they came and head to separate them and then back on bike. Was a real pain but good experience. Wish this video was out then
I have heard so many of those stories about those lines leaking. I think that was one of the main reasons I took them all the way apart was to replace all those o rings. Thanks for watching!
Cheers bro...I just about changed out the wrong sensor for the fan...

Help..help. i keep out the valve egr and the solenoide... and my car run in 1200rpm to rich..... the issue is this ( kepp out) give me your comments
I'm sorry but I'm not sure I understand your problem. So you disconnected the EGR and solinoid from the car and now you have a high idle? Did you take them of the car or just disconnect them?
Good job ! JIS stands for Japanese Industrial Standards, which are a set of national standards that govern the quality, performance, and test methods for industrial products, data, and services in Japan
Thank you. I appreciate the information on the J I S screwdrivers I knew they were different but I wasn't sure what it stood for. Thanks for watching!
If you have a modified engine would you increase or decrease the amount of water pulled?
I think I would want to increase it slightly to get more pull and raise the fuel pressure a little. Thanks for watching.
It's been my experience that ignition boxes and the like don't just "go bad" while the bike is sitting, they fail due to other more serious problems. But you know what does go bad while they're sitting there? Switch contacts and connectors. If you've got good coils, and it looks like you have, the very first place I'd start looking is the kill switch, and the connectors between it and the coils and the spark units. According to the clymer book of fairy tales for the 500 interceptor, that's the black and white wire to coils and ignitors, it's probably the same for the 700. Again according to clymer / 500, the fan fuse is separate from the other fuses probably so it runs when the switch is off, orange/blue wire from the ignition switch. I'd suspect a corroded contact on the ignition switch. A good starting point for any old bike before you do anything else is to go through the loom, unplugging, spraying contact cleaner, and replugging.
There are differences between the 500 and the 700/750 as far as the way they work, they are very similar but do have differences such as your discrepancy in the wiring colors and other things. The Honda shop manual doesn't even include the 500 or the 1000 because of the amount of differences. I am using the factory shop manual to diagnose this bike not Clymer which I believe is not nearly as good as the official Honda manual and in the Honda manual there is the fuse that you described but that is for the 1983 and I have a 1985 which uses a updated system and a different wiring diagram both of which are in the Honda book as it covers 1983 to 1985. I think it had been sitting so long because it died and no one took the time to diagnose it properly. The ohm meter doesn't lie 12 Mega ohms isn't even close to speck for that pulse generator. As you saw I did disconnect and check the harness and the connectors in the video and they all appeared to be good. I have several more videos on getting this bike to run and I' going to go completely through it . I post one every Tuesday and I hope that you will continue to watch them. Thanks.
@@84c4corvetteguy5 I certainly will continue to watch! You'll have it back up and running soon, I'm sure. And yeah, the honda manual kicks the clymer book into the weeds, it's just that I had the clymer book sat on the desk :)
@@wibblywobblyidiotvision Thanks, I appreciate your support!
big mistake to remove the wire if u dont know why its there as its powering something. u needed to check the pulse generators earlier in the process and check for power going to igniter box. u dont know alot as its not necessary to remove any cover to check pulsers, just measure ohms at the plug. its not easy to find new parts for bikes this old.
With absolutely no due respect, bollocks. If "u" can't be fucked to throw a sentence together, "u" probably shouldn't be telling people they don't know "alot". In fact, it's generally taken a sign that "u" don't know "shit". Firstly, the wire is solely powering the fan circuit, which is unnecessary until the engine is actually running - a dubious looking wire shunt jammed between fuses is a good sign there are electrical problems that need fixing, and may be causing problems itself; it needs to be removed and the problem needs to be fixed Secondly, if you're testing components like the ignitor, you should always test on the component itself and not somewhere else down the line. You don't know if the loom has fucked wires, or the connectors between your test point and the component are corroded.
That wire wasn't factory that was someone's backyard fix for getting the fan to run. all that could do is overheat a circuit that was not designed to handle the amperage of 2 circuits. I diagnosed this problem in a up coming video. Rule one in electrical diagnosis is to always start by checking powers and grounds. Did I need to go all the way back to the CDI units no but it was a good way to check the entire wiring harness and connectors as it is a 40 year old bike and according to the shop manual there wasn't a plug/connection where you saw me test it the book had it inside the cover. I'm completely restoring this bike so after I get it to run I will pull the entire bike apart and go through the entire bike. I hope you will continue to watch my videos.
JIS screwdrivers are a must. Well, unless you want all your screw heads chewed up.
I was never was in to bikes growing up but when i saw the Interceptor it really made an impression on me. I think this bike is so darn cool. Even the design and framework look very appealing to the eye. Looking forward to watching more, take care.

I had an 86 red white blue single cylinder XL250 . Bought it brand new .. after only 1 year, it needed a pulse generator .
Wow that's something. I can expect it after 40 years but after one year that's crazy. Thanks for watching!
I had an 84 Interceptor. Really enjoyed the bike. It also has that transitional look with a partial fairing. Some people love that look and some don't. To each their own.
The guy I bought it from actually gave me the full set of fairings to make it look like the 86 so I can go both directions with it. I actually like both looks. Thanks for watching!

Really nice work and thank you for documenting the rebuilding process. These videos are a great service to all of those who rebuild these cars. Hey I have a few questions on my 84 after rebuilding the throttle bodies. Could I get your email to see your thoughts? Thanks
jaysinon@gmail.com
Can you explain how you went with a 84 vett? Most youtube vids are negative on the early ones. I got Buffaloed by the Florida freaks.
There is such a small HP difference between the Crossfire and the Tuned port so that didn't matter to me and I don't like the LT1 engine or the newer style dash. I was a GM mechanic most of my life and spend a lot of the 80's at a Pontiac dealer so the Trans Ams had both engines and regardless of what some people say I fixed more Tuned port problems then Crossfire problems. There's a lot less to go wrong and they are much easier to work on then the Tuned Port. Thanks for your comment!
thanks for making this series ,enjoy that car !
