The reason why he has the crest is explained at the end of the Church route. It's not so surprising knowing what happened. Of course, spoilers, so I'll stay quiet about it right now.
One thing to mention for the Crest of Gautier: What I find to be so good about the crest isn't the crest effect itself, but the relic: Lance of Ruin. It's a lance you can obtain absurdly early in the game (after chapter 5 if you have Sylvain in your roster and make the right descisions). It has extremely high mt (might have the highest mt stat of all lances honestly), though the accuracy can be a bit shaky. That's where the unique combat art comes into play: Ruined Sky. It adds even MORE mt to the attack, but it also increases the accuracy to acceptable levels. With that, you can basically delete anyone you desire, even the Death Knight if you use Knightkneeler instead. tl;dr Lance of Ruin op
As a small note: I am basing this on Maddening mode, where units basically always struggle to kill. So the LoR is a godsend at times (in my current playthrough anyways)
@@Unpunk I can't tell if tou are joking, but if you aren't, you're missing the point. What challenge is there when you just grind out the challenge out of that mode? From my experience, Maddening (and FE games generally) is supposed to be played without grinding. I mean, you have the option to do so, but what fun would be that? Then again, you might be joking, so in that case, forget what I said.
@@thatonepersonnoonecaresabo3163 Grinding is fun for some people. Some people just love to see how absurdly they can break what's supposed to be the hardest difficulty in a game. I'm not one of them myself but my wife definitely is. We shouldn't shame people for enjoying a game the way they want to though. I'm not saying you're doing that just to be clear. I just think it's something more gamers should keep in mind in general.

Because with grinding, there is no real difference in what is objectively good or not. There is nothing wrong with pushing the limits with grinding in this game. If people enjoy it, that's perfectly fine by me. My confusion from the comment that he made comes from him just saying to grind on a video rating crests on their gameplay value. The thing with relics is that ANYONE can use them. The matching crest just grants a bonus effect (like damage reduction or a special combat art). Only units that posess no crest get a penalty, as the relic will act as a devil weapon at that point. Due to Thyrsus selling point being its standard effect, you can go ham with it no matter the unit. No Crest of Gloucester required!
@@MineNAdventurer Ehh... I don't think so. Lysithea is so frail, she really needs to pray for the damage reduction to work, or she's toast. And on Maddening it won't save her regardless, since enemies are pretty strong there.
@@thatonepersonnoonecaresabo3163 Yeah but doesn't Aegis proc based off of the dexterity stat? Lysithea has a pretty high dexterity, so I end up seeing Aegis work for her a lot. It's not something you should count on, but it still can be a real life saver at times.
@@jackmanleblanc2518 Sometimes. On Hard mode. On Maddening, it basically doesn't even matter, since the damage she recieves will still be enough to kill her, even if the damage reduction procs twice.
I feel like you are trying to hard to speak slowly to pad out the video to 10 minutes, just try adding one of those video advertisement slides at the end.
I actually wasn’t trying to talk slow I was just trying to make sure that I was saying it all correct, honestly it was an accident it made it over 10 minutes I was aiming for 7 and a half but it went long
This crest are great, in my maddening blue lions playtrough I puting all on dimitri crest activation, I know is low the rate activation but is amazing and send the enemy to the hell XD
The Crest of Bladdyd(?) can be pretty strong, but the doubled durability usage is kinda bad. There is nothing better than using a combat art with a silver lance and due to a random proc basially cutting the durability in half-
Is this for maddening? Because I rarely use combat artes, also according to Serenes Forest researchers, they don't stack, and trigger separately, only one at a time can stack.
So you’re saying they don’t stack but they both have a separate chance of activation? That’s the same thing in the end... means one might have a 10% chance to proc while the other might have 20% but overall they would have a 30% of one activating....
@@geovannicardenas4736 I would argue that Catherine is the second best swordmaster. Petra does better in either assassin for extra Dex (crit goddess build) or in Falcon Knight (dodge tank build). Catherine's stat line is almost as good as Felix, more def and a little less in a few other stats.

For me personally I always put videos to 1.25x playback speed just to save time. All videos I watch still sound natural with that speed.

Is the same in the end, also combat arts are pretty usefull on madenning, much of the time your only way to hit or kill an enemy

Yes, he is the best swordmaster, on seconds place I would put petra, she is more fast, but she doesnt hava a crest, and has less atk and def

Imo Byleth is easily the best swordsmaster and Felix is better at being a War Master.
Wait what about the crest of macuil? Would that be good? It’s a new game plus item, but doesn’t have any bearers other than that.
