Kjelle is at least notable because she is the earliest armor unit you can recruit in the game. It’s still weird that Gen 1 didn’t have any armors in awakening.

Id say the fact that she can become a bishop and by proxy get the slayer skill which id say surface wise makes any light mage the most important endgame mage from a general standpoint.
Syrene is the last part of the triangle attack at the very least in terms of being memorable.

@@Zerobasssoul kyle is arguably the best paladin behind seth. while franz joins earlier, kyle gets access to chapter 5x which gives him boatloads of experience. he's likely to reach level 9-10 in chapter 5x alone.

For Fates I'd argue it's Yukimura, not just because he's a forgettable character, but because it's easy to forget he's playable. It's bad enough being locked behind specific castle upgrades, but he gets the worst of it. Flora and Izana are available in two routes each, meanwhile Fuga is a strong unit in a route full of units with horrible bases. Yukimura, meanwhile, is only available in Birthright and is really unremarkable in combat. Even child units like Hisame and Ignatius are at least directly tied to someone already in your army. All the men in Fates have a child, and if you go through each one, you'll find their child. Yukimura has an obscure recruitment method, is weak in combat, can ONLY support with Corrin, and is only available in one route, which isn't even the golden route.
As for Awakening, I was gonna suggest an armor knight, but aside from Kjelle no one comes to mind...

Nah, you at least fight yukimura in the last couple chapters of conquest, and have to plan around his passive skills on higher difficulties, you remember him as an enemy if nothing else. Its azama's kid mitama who's the most forgettable. Azama himself has a lot of competition between sakura and jakob/felicia as a staff unit, and making him work as a combat unit requires a bit of investment, investment you probably won't even bother with in rev in particular because you get him right before valla. And going through the work of getting him hitched only rewards you with ANOTHER staffbot when you already have plenty.

Gilbert is very forgettable if you're Golden Deer or Black Eagles due to being unplayable. This is true. But he's actually unforgettable in Blue Lions for one reason: the game makes you think Dedue is gone for good (which he can be if you either didn't do his paralogue, or failed to save enough Duscur troops during it) so they give you Gilbert to replace him. A lot of people (at least at launch), really liked, even loved, Dedue. So to seemingly kill him off screen, only to replace him with Deadbeat Dad of the Millenium is a pretty big deal a lot of players will never forget, meaning Gilbert as well will never be forgotten.

I'd argue that Lindon is more popular because he has a fun personal skill to play with if you want to use him like a magic Panette, whereas Saphir is just another Warrior unit (which you probably already have enough of if you've been using units like Boucheron, reclassed Etie and Panette). Lindon is recruited at the relative end of his chapter and carries a Thoron tome, so he can 3 range poke any leftover units whereas Saphir is recruited at the start of the level with heavy weapons that slow her down, so unless you have some loose Axes and Bows in your inventory, she likely won't even contribute in the chapter you recruit her in.
If you have the Olwain ring (Brave Thunder) and a forged Thunder Tome with a crit engraving, Lindon can nuke things from 3 range because his personal skill boosts his crit rate if the weapon he's using is a lower tier than the enemy's.
Since every enemy is likely carrying Silver grade weapons at this point, it makes it super easy to trigger. The biggest hurdle, of course, is getting the ring in the first place.

I'd say Warren does have some value in other ways (like his presence handwaving the need to explain how the army got food in some of the more inhospitable areas) but even discounting that he still gets one or two banger lines at the very least. "Even if everyone else disappeared from this world... It wouldn't change a thing for me. And on the other hand, if I were to disappear from this world... It wouldn't change a thing for the world, either" is still a line I really like for some reason.
Daisy actually does have a unique conversation with Deimne in the final chapter if they're married that's pretty important to the overall substitute narrative. They talk about how she feels that commoners like them aren't actually needed in the war when they can barely contribute anything compared to the Holy Bloods (ironic given the context of this video). It's a very depressing and grounded dialogue and kind of captures the essence of the substitute experience. If I had to pick a least memorable substitute it would easily be Femina, both her and Hawk add little to nothing to the substitute narrative but at least Hawk is good in gameplay I guess.
Garret is the rare instance of FE actually showing what happens after a revenge story, and a lot of his story beats are about how he threw everything away for his revenge and didn't really have anywhere else to go in life after seizing it. Like many others in FE6's cast he has good bits of writing that aren't hinted at very well in his introduction in the main plot's script.

Nice video dude! However, i disagree on Daisy being the most forgettable character on FE4 because ironically, its pretty easy to have her as your substitute because her mom, brigid, has a big habit of dying to the pirate onslaught on the her joining chapter, or just not build enough love points to get married by the end of gen 1 (thats what happened with me even, and i was trying to pair her)
So you'll see daisy more than one time if you play FE4 in a more lax way, my personal choice for FE4's most forgettable substituite is Jeanne, because not only its hard to have raquesis die, but also she doesn't have anything going on for her besides her class of a mobile healer.

Giving my personal takes (using the remakes when applicable), I remembered all of these characters.
Shadow Dragon: Horace, maybe. Honestly you could say just about any of the gaiden chapter characters. Most people don't see them.
Echoes: Jesse? By the time you get him you have two myrms and Deen is also very viable (good unit and cool design).
Mystery of the Emblem: Frost, easily. He just joins you in preps, there isn't even an active effort to get him. He's also from BSFE originally, which makes him even less memorable and obscure.
Genealogy: I'd give it to Dalvin. He's just kinda sad and he's never did good on CYL either. His sister eclipses him.
Thracia: I agree with you for Troude.
Binding Blade: I unfortunately agree with Garret. I love Garret but nobody really cares about him. It's sad.
Blazing Blade: I can also unfortunately agree with Geitz. He's one of my favorites but his recruitment condition sucks lol.
Sacred Stones: I'd actually go with Syrene. Joins late in a spot where your core team should have already been decided. She just exists.
Path of Radiance: I actually think Largo has some notability solely due to the fact he ISN'T playable in Radiant Dawn. I'd go with like... maybe Tauroneo...? He's notable in RD but in POR he's a generally forgettable midgame General that isn't great.
Radiant Dawn: I feel like Nealuchi is actually one of the more memorable RD additions. He's existent in both games and in crowds that don't have as many notable characters and is a funnier character. I'd go with like, Renning. I've literally never seen anyone talk about him despite him being a character who should have an impact.
Awakening: Agreed with Kjelle. Nobody else really fits imo.
Fates: I'd go with Yukimura. Weird recruit, only on one route, not a memorable character, just kinda.. yeah. Never seen any fans. Ignatius isn't a bad choice though.
Three Houses: For non Blue Lions routes, it's definitely Gilbert, but if you've played Blue Lions, I feel like it sortof goes into... Hanneman..? I dunno. It's hard. This cast is generally very well remembered, even the more minor characters. If I could answer Anna I would.
Engage: Definitely Lindon, another unfortunate case imo.

If not Renning for RD, I'd go with probably Gareth.
For 3H it's pretty simple I'd say. Nobody gives a damn about Anna because she doesn't have any supports and also joins with mediocre base stats. At least Hanneman gets some early story cutscenes and has a lot of really interesting support conversations.
In Engage I honestly would pick Saphir over Lindon. Sure, Saphir is present in one cutscene but doesn't stand out as a unit. Her bases are just okay and her growths are some of the worst in the game. Meanwhile, Lindon has the privilege of being the only recruitable unit that initially is an enemy on his join map and has a well-earned reputation for his personal skill enabling some funny crit shenanigans.

Hold on there buddy, Lorenz is one of the least forgettable characters in the Marth games. Firstly, he is a large part of the "Camus the Sable" bit, which is one of the coolest parts of fe1/Shadow dragon. If you play that chapter blind, the player expects Camus to be recruitable, but no matter what you try he will not sway. Lorenz being recruitable is the icing on the cake, and it's cool that this old dude over here is the guy you get instead of sympathetic Camus.
Furthermore, he plays a big role in fe3 chapter 1 as he is the first boss. He has interesting political motivation and having the boss be one of the playable characters of the previous game is cool. Not to mention, he blows himself up with a bomb in a pretty shocking and meaningful way. It was one of the coolest character moments I've seen in a fe game. Gonna have to disagree on some here
Genealogy: Daisy is definitely not forgettable. Not only is she the most voted substitute in CYL, she still has utility as a thief and comes with the Sleep Sword, which is pretty good. Definitely not forgettable as a unit, even if she doesnt have good combat. I'd have picked Dalvin. He is Scathach's replacement and doesnt really do much. He has one unique convo and not much going for him as a unit (being a sword fighter in FE4 hurts). The guy he replaces isnt even particularly memorable either, which helps make him more forgotten. Runner-up would be Tristan, but he has more combat relevance than Dalvin.
Thracia: Many units can go here and I dont think Troude is one of them. Aside from being a bit of a meme in FE5 circles, he's actually a solid unit. Yeah he can be tough to recruit, but he is notable in that chapter and as a unit. Someone more forgettable would probably be Conomor. He's not exactly a noteworthy unit and he can only be recruited by Miranda, who is only recruitable if you chose the B route, which is generally considered an inferior route and Miranda herself isnt a great unit either. Whats funny is that Conomor's earliest appearance is on the A route, where he cant be recruited.
Sacred Stones: Many have said this but this should go to Syrene. Late join, mediocre unit, unlikely to see much use. Natasha has the perk of recruiting Joshua (your best myrmidon) and being a healer.
Three Houses: Gilbert is far too infamous to be forgotten, especially when he plays a large role in Azure Moon. My pick here is probably Raphael. He doesnt have much going for him as a unit and is a pretty flat character in a more complex cast. I cant think of any noteworthy discussions about him besides people who like himbos (me, I'm people). Balthus can also take this place but has more going for him than Raphael.

Three Houses is hard because most of the support convos are actually really good and it's so easy to get pairings going. Me, who played Sacred Stones as my first Fire Emblem game and thus has a big soft spot for it in my heart: 'I bet I'll remember exactly who he's talking about instantly.'
    *video nominates Natasha*
Me: *gears visibly turning in my head, as the memory machine tries to dig up files on Natasha and finally produces them after a solid 10-15 seconds of trying to remember her* 'Uh... see? N-nailed it...'
I only managed to remember her after linking her to the more memorable Joshua and I managed to identify her as: 'that goody goody chick the merc for hire has a thing for', which triggered a few more memories. Definitely a solid pick.
I remember Moulder because it sounds like Mulder and I'm a big X-files fan. That's specific to me, obviously, but still, I remember him well.

Guess it doesn't help that Ignatius' recruitment Paralogue is kind of a pain since he starts guarding a village by himself half-way across the map and you gotta reach him before he gets overwhelmed, which on higher difficulties may happen in a couple of turns. Not helped by the fact he's a Conquest character. Yeah, Revelations exists but still.

Largo with Resolve was a lategame beast in my RD playthrough. Such a fun unit to use!

While Kjelle isn’t very memorable as a character to many players, no way she is more forgettable than Laurent. For many other players, Kjelle was the daughter of Chrom and sister of Lucina. That easily puts her way above Laurent.

Id probably argue one of the part 3 laguz cats are the most forgettable units. They join the retuening greil mercenaries midpart and are absolutly useless. In comparison Naeluchi joins as one of 4 units at the beginning of part 2 and his design is very unique, id argue he is one of the most rememerable radiant dawn exclusive characters. Overall a very well made video and well articulated.

I'd go with Laurent over Kjelle, as she at least has a unique outfit. Plus, Kjelle could be Chrom's daughter, which gives her a slight edge.
I would also Pick Cyril over Gilbert. Gilbert is Dimitri's direct councillor as well as a possible replacement for Dedue. Cyril meanwhile is not affiliated with any house, is not a teacher, and looks generic as hell.
Ignatius is a fine pick, though I'd say Benny is pretty lovable, meaning he'll probably get an S rank. Hisame however is the unremarkable son of an unremarkable unit.

    • @ManuCarrotman312
      @ManuCarrotman312 2 місяці тому +1

...I honestly completely forgot that Hisame exists, and now that I remember him I kind of agree he's more forgettable, he's as plain as plain gets and doesn't really bring anything to the table. I guess the only pass I give him is he's a Hoshido/Birthright character so you have a lot more wiggle room there to mess around and try him out while Conquest is more unforgiving so Ignatius gets less of a chance to shine.

Oh, not for me. Kjelle was my favorite child unit purely because I did something funny with her. After using her as the wall to grind my healers, she ended up being one of my strongest units. That's not why I remember her though. When all was said and done, she had over 50 Luck. It just so happens one of the skills she inherited was Armsthrift. Which meant any weapon she used lasted forever. So I forged the hell out of a Glass Axe and sent her to work. She was awesome.

For Engage, I don't know why, but I feel it goes to either Clanne or Franne, outside the first couple of missions, which this happens to all non lord units, and the exception of the green recruitables, Lindon felt somewhat memorable for BEING the only real missable unit, where as Clanne and Franne just get forgotten after chapter 4 I wanna say. If I didn't know better, having tried to get all characters to stat caps and max bond with Rings, they were honestly the easiest to have fall off, even with the unique commands they get in their starting classes (specifically Franne), but that's just me, as for 3 houses Gilbert... Yeah I agree, having done 3 of the 4 routes.

I remembered Nomah but it's really probably mostly because there isnt that many characters in SoV... For Fates and Awakening tho I agree with your picks I usually tends to play the kids more due to the fact that they are either better (Fates, espe in conquest where haviing the royals + their kids is litterally the best team) if the pairing are well chosen than their parents, either bc of the inherited skills you can give them wich make them faster to build.

I feel like Lindon and Saphyr actually stand out more in that game for being slightly diverse in their age/appearance/circumstances. Way more other characters in the “pale teen-aged ambiguous retainer” range just sort of anamorph into each other because of the designs being, ironically, so jarring or irrational without any characterising that they end up kind of blending together, or their lack of screen time or any noteable purpose or characteristics. Other people have brought up Bunet and Ambert (I think Diamant’s retainer?), but I’d also add Louis to the potential list of contenders. Tbh Diamant can fall under the radar kind of often for lords’ standards too

I'm a month late, but I had to comment. As someone who's favorite child unit is Laurent, I have to say I think he's underrated. Yes, I can understand some thinking he's bland compared to others like Owain and Norie. Or even some not even recruiting him cause they didn't know you needed Miriel or Chrom to visit the first village. But even with that, I still love him the most. And I'm not saying he suffered the most out of all the child units, but he's had it rough. Spoiler alert for his supports with his father.
In his B support with his father, he mentions that due to a mishap with the time travel ritual, he ended up three years too early than the intended time (by that, I mean three years before the war with Plegia. Aka, chapters 1-11). Thus, he's been on his own for FIVE whole years by himself. And while he dismissed it at first, saying he isn't a child and can mange just fine on his own, he eventually confesses in his A support with his father that he was very lonely. Stuck wandering an era where he knew no one for FIVE YEARS. He kept hoping to meet up with the other future children, but knew the chances were miniscule. He had NO ONE to lend an ear or help him through his despair. And he spent many nights thinking he'd die ALONE. From pain or otherwise.
He's suffered so much. And even if you don't like him that much, I'm sure some of you can agreed he's suffered a lot. Put yourself in his shoes. Imagine if you were stuck in a time where you knew no one. Had no way to contact your friends/family, and feared every night could be your last as you searched for them. It's horrible and I think Laurent could use a bit more love.

I don't find Geitz to forgettable, as stated he is actually a really good unit and beyond that a pretty interesting character as the son of a wealthy merchant who left his fathers business after finding out they trafficked slaves and is looking for a purpose in life. His supports with Dart, Dorcas, and Isadora are all rather touching. Guess I am biased as I tend to aim for the Linus map over Lloyd as I can't stand the fog.
In terms of actual most forgettable character in fe7 I would say Wil. If he didn't join as your only archer in Lyn's campaign I don't think there would be anything to remember him by, and thats assuming you even play Lyn's campaign which I know most veteran players just skip. He is a subpar archer with a personality like white bread. Only mildly interesting things with him is his connections to Rebecca as childhood friend.

10:29 in terms of Awakening, I forgot about Donnel and actually Awakening Tiki. It wasn't until Heroes I saw both of them exist and while one of them would end up as my first 5-star +10 unit and would become a favorite of mine where in my recent playthrough, I married Tiki.
the other being Donnel. Now most of that was because I ignored the paralogues and didn't realize that they were important at the time when I played. Honestly.... I don't have much memory and fondness for many of awakenings characters, and I never even knew awakening had "child units" until a friend told me a year later, and by then, Fates had released so I was in a better shape in dealing with supports.
In fact, I think in my original save (where I stopped at Chapter 20, and I still have a save from the middle of that battle) My highest bond is actually Robin and Lon'qu. and at the time I never understood it.

In the end game of Sacreed Stones, undead was one of the most common enemy types and both characters could wield light magic at the end of the game. Key difference, L'Arachel starts on a horse, so she can heal and run and there's only one desert map in the entire game.

Cain and Alba are both further down the list IMO, but the sort of direct homage to the original Cain and Abel is a little notable. Hicks (who is actually my favorite character in the series) is pretty forgettable but his recruitment is interesting and he shows up during an exciting escape map.
