FJ Cruiser Rear Passenger USB Charging Ports

- USB charging ports are becoming ubiquitous in most modern vehicles, however the FJ Cruiser only came with 1 original USB port (and it doesn't charge very quickly). After a number of different USB mods, I now have 8 USB charging ports (10 if you count the 2 inputs from he Android stereo head unit) throughout my car.

Love your videos as a new FJ owner! What size wire did you use? Why did you wire to a switch vs having them on whenever the car is on?
I think this was 14 gauge wire. I decided to wire to a switch, simply because I have extra switch blanks to use, and I wanted to have at least one set of chargers available when the car is turned off. Hope that helps.
@@LiL13izzy7 got it. Any reason 16 or 18 gauge won't work? I'm going do do a USB in the dash and one int he center console. I'm going to daisy chain the one int he center console to the one in the dash button cluster.

Yeah I agree. I did this mod way before I started filming myself doing mods (it turns a 30 minute job into a 2 hour job), but at the very least just wanted to share the idea. I have another video about wiring a USB port in your car that might fill in some of the gaps for you.
