Janis, I had the opportunity to meet you at the Bozeman airport recently. I appreciate how open to talking to me and friendly you were. Hope to see many more episodes with you and the rest of the meateater crew. You guys surely make the best content out there. God bless. I pray you have straight shots and clear skys this upcoming hunting season.
If you can kill an antelope spot and stalk hunting you have reached the pinnacle of all archery hunting! I would say it is a very lofty accomplishment, if you can do it. Diffidently one of the most challenging, enjoyable, frustrating and thrilling type of hunt there is. Thanks for taking me along on your hunt.
Smiled through the whole episode took me 5 years of bow-hunting 😂 before I got one using compound and know that feeling the next stalk next ridge next year 😊😅😂❤
I just got drawn for my first antelope tag this fall coming up here in southern Saskatchewan. I'm super excited and have 3 different time frames from Sept 1 - Nov 9. this was full of great take-aways and I'll probably re-watch this again!
Even though I live in Michigan now, I'll never forget about something I learned growing up as a young boy in Wyoming. You have about as much of a chance sneaking up on an antelope with a bow as you do sneaking up on an F22 raptor in a hot air balloon.
Me either. That bubble of 50-80 yards can be really difficult to break. In my experience, 50 yards is too far to shoot a pronghorn due to their reaction time and the wind that is typical of pronghorn country. It’s ridiculous though, because I’ve killed a couple with a rifle well under 50 yards that in my mind would’ve been chip shots with my bow, but probably not.
I have, let me give you a little trick I use for spot and stalking pronghorn , your buddies might tease you a bit but it helps, every piece of camouflage use a different pattern, like pants- prairie ghost, shirt- desert, one leggin-mossy oak, other leggin- burlap, and for God's sakes camouflage your face and arms, they are what you move the most up close( by the way burlap makes one of the best camo's in grass)
I have never hunted pronghorn before, but from what I have seen of them, what you need to go on an archery hunt for them is a long distance rifle. Just saying.
Seen archers using horse to get in close for a shot. Ride them in then walk next to them and the pronghorn seem to not see the hunter. Not sure where I seen that video but it’s what I would like to try when I go as well as a new 425 gr arrow to hopefully get me more range.
Yanis, the answer to your question about your next shot on a spooky antelope is to not shoot. The odds of injuring or missing an alert animal at that range is very high. The ethical option would be to avoid taking a low margin shot like that. Respect leads you to better results than desperation.
@@branchandfoundry560 If only he’d demonstrated the lesson learned and not flung another desperation arrow at that doe at the end. People make bad choices, myself included, but eventually there is just no excuse. You have to reach that point where killing an animal means more than success on video.
Where's your electric bike for those pasture Plaines!, my aumish friend ❤where's your walkie- talkies my friend ❤😊this isn't meateater , it's stalkeater,no gun?😊
You cannot ever on any animal with no cover behind you, sneak up over and above them or in front of them. If its this open its just not possible. They will always skyline you. If it was a deer say bedded against a rock that different if they are covered from behind.
Got my first antelope when I was 9 yrs old with a knife... I escaped from a home for kids that didn't have parents. Hop a train in Wisconsin..ended up in Montana.. hungry cold an scared I found a antelope hung up in a fence. I dispatch it with pocket knife. Built a fire an ate till I was full stayed 3 days there eating till I run out of water..time to go... To this day I still love antelope cooked on a stick over a fire... That was back in 66..
So by you saying ..if that's true .... If you knew me you would not call me a liar .in a round about way ... Like I'm not gonna think you are some young dumba@#$ just because you are stup!?
Actually we may know what’s going on when a deer or antelope “ jumps the string” or ducks the arrow. Deer react to things twice as fast as humans can. It has to do with there sight and the way they see the world in a panoramic way. It’s almost like they see things in slow motion compared to us which gives them the ability to dodge the arrow when they are looking directly at you. Deer IQ just did a great podcast on this. Check it out. Better luck next time guys. You can’t win if you don’t play👍👍

I know that with any Janis video there's a 75% chance nothing will hit the dirt, but I still watch. Now that's entertainment!

I finally did it 5 years ago, pronghorn spot and stalk is the most fun I've ever had bowhunting.
@@LANCEtheBOIL Just got my first yesterday....pretty crazy after 3 years for it to all work out.
Oh, look, my favorite show just posted another episode!
Probably my favorite Janis episode so far. I loved the detail of what’s going on
You guys make the best hunting content. Thank you.
Janis putelis, the king of dry hunt videos 😂😂
Great episode! I've drawn the Montana archery antelope tag 3 times and killed 2 bucks, both spot and stalk. Tough hunt, but super fun!
Hardest hunting of my life. We ended up doing 16ish stalks over a 4 day period in Nebraska. Got 1 buck.
Man what a dream hunt! Super underrated it seems
My favorite but most difficult hunt! Love it!

Best quote of the epi “found one road hunting…”.
😂
My buddies do this hunt every year in similar country and always bag the first day. Takes soooooooo much skill, I'm in awe of how they pull it off.
That last camera angle was so awesome! These cameramen need to worry more about getting that shot!

Seriously... If there weren't deer and buffalo in Wyoming the native Americans would have most likely starved.
"Spooked a 3-pack at a looong distance with the uh... Can Am." Hahaha
Archery antelope is no joke. I've never had a succesfull hunt.

@@phild9813me and my buddy just got one at 95 yards on Thursday. It was unbelievable. Spot and stalk decoy.
Those antlers are antennas which detect arrows. That’s how they can jump the string. Radar. It’s science.

Watching the latvian eagle struggle with speedgoats makes me feel so much better about my unsuccessful archery season.
Thanks. Great video.
I've not been the biggest fan of Janis usually. Not sure what was different from earlier videos but this one was different and was excellent.
I'm impressed that you got as close as you did! That looks VERY difficult.
I can not believe how far that first one ducked your arrow. Great video!
Crazy how aware the pronghorn are !!
I’ve got an archery antelope public land hunt in NM next week, this gives me…hope? I’m still gonna hunt hard!
If it’s your first year play the terrain know when you have a chance to get in range and don’t worry when you blow stalks just on to the next one
Fun fact, pronghorn had to be fast to run from the now extinct American Cheetah.
Great hunt Janis! Difficult one with a bow 😬
I have never hunted pronghorn before, but from what I have seen of them, what you need to go on an archery hunt for them is a long distance rifle. Just saying.
Thank you for starting my day off with a smile!
Archery antelope is the most fun you'll ever have
Great video, exciting and educational.
What is the make and model of the bow you're using
I hear they can see almost 300 degrees with both eyes great hunt
If it' alert and looking at you aim low. If not keep your pin at 50. That be my guess. Awesome hunt.
Antelope don’t react like deer sometimes they duck sometimes the haul ass just put it on the heart and hope for the best
Funny how all fear of snakes goes away when you're in a hurry to get up to an animal after just seeing one 🤣
"Where they have gone to, is not within my eyesight." Word magician.
Gave away the whole video in the first fifty seconds
I’m gutted I didn’t get to see the hat in action
Just sat down and smacked a fat bowl , with an even fatter bowl of spaghetti infront of me and the algorithm blesses me with a new ep, hoorah

You left a part of the sentence out. “…when you make bad decisions.”
I used to live in Bozeman; Montana is a lovely place ❤
Coooool 👍🏿
Was this hunt anywhere near Sidney?
What do we have to do to get Max in front of the camera??
Curious if the glare from the camera lens spooked em.
Janis, are you doing it again this year?
What is the brand of decoy he was using?
Montana Decoy Co
Does anyone know what bino harness Janis is using
FHF Gear FOB
Anyone know what the backpack brand is ?

All that stuff jingling on your bino pack and you don’t know why you kept getting the head snap. 🤯
Did Victoria secret come out with a base layer?? 😂
The sure way to get an antelope into range is to not have a tag and then just walk around like you own the place.
I feel this pain makes me feel better
Ghillie suit is a must have
Goat hunting in the open prairie with a bow is impossible. I’ve driven myself mad trying to pull it off
Great edit. Minimum talking
Got to hear the "Whop" lol
Who else blames the cameraman for him getting busted so many times. :-)

That’s weird because the archery season for 2024 hasn’t started yet. 🧐
What does the 2024 season have to do with it?
I wonder how common hunters starving to death while antelope hunting is
For a real test, Try it with a traditional bow When you need a shot of 25 yards or less by stalking….
