I'm taking care of a c5 partial quad man. Morning routine IS very personal. And, I haven't figured out a good routine yet. I just realized I've been trying to get him going like I do the little kids, forgetting he is a grown man🙄😳 now im stressing. I know he needs to move around alot like this man, before getting out of bed. As a c4 do you bear weight at all to stand and pivot for transfer from bed to chair??? I realize every injury is unique, but he fresh out of hospital, and not bearing any weight even tho he has full sensation and can move his legs and arms and can push legs and move feet normally. I feel stuck, like he should be able to stand pivot?( no one has even tried to stand him!)
I want to do a good job helping him, but I watch videos these kind people post, to try to figure out how to best help him become more independent and see what he can do! How do you know unless you try? Like the catheter? How do you know you can't pee on your own, unless you bladder train and try?
But needs bowel care, so not sure if that's an indication he can't pee without help. I sure need info from the experts (you guys) who are living this!!!

@@dvssayer5621 caregivers don’t get the recognition they deserve nobody knows how hard it is. Plus you don’t know what the person goes through just to wake up and do the same thing and have someone do it for you because you can’t do it yourself.

@@KB2MB your right. Its not at all easy! I dont feel I want recognition at all I want it to be like what he said in his video....that there doesn't even have to be any talking, because you both know what your doing and what moves are to be made, which takes time to get there! And to be quick and efficient! An unseen helper that comes in gets it all done and gets out without alot of extra chit chat! Like they don't want to know about my dog, etc they want the am care to go nice and smooth. I would want that too. Attitude becomes everything, on both sides🙂

As someone with no mobility disabilities I never thought about what living with physical disabilities actually means. What you go through daily- and with the attitude you do , hats off to you man. Respect. I've got a friend who's whole lower spine was shattered and is fused now, we call her "hot wheels " ( humor helps her ) . Your videos put some of the pain and struggles in perspective better - because I know she hides a lot of what she goes through so to have some idea of what could happen behind the smiles and spasms is very eye opening and has helped me become a better friend by being able to consider more than I did before. I used to get stressed she would only text every week a couple times and realized she's got way more going on in daily tasks alone than responding to my silly ass, and I'll likely never know the battle yall face in your own bodies everyday. Thank you. Stay strong.

My wifes legs spasm the same way. She's been in a wheel chair since she was 17 and she's 43 now.
