I'm with you, I would LOVE to see more movies animated or otherwise, with cats as the main characters and/or the good guys. All I can think of off the top of my head are The Aristocats, The Cat Returns (Studio Ghibli), and this one is not necessarily about cats, but Natsume's Book of Friends. Okay, so Nyanko-sensei is really a giant fox yokai in disguise. When he is in his Maneki-neko-inspired cat form, he behaves endearingly cat-like when it suits him.
I knew there was another cat movie, but I couldn't think what it was until I clicked off of this video. Gay Purr-ee is a great cat-positive movie, even if it is an older, 2D classic. It's a musical from Warner Bros. And no LGBT cat jokes please, based on the title! Gay Purr-ee is set in Paris, and it was made in the blissful time when you could say "gay" in America and not immediately conjure up an army of LGBTQ activists or controversy, etc. It features Judy Garland as Mewsette, a cat living in the French countryside who longs for the sophisticated life in the elegant city of Paris, and Robert Goulet as the orange tomcat Jaune Tom who loves her, and has to travel to the big city with a fanboy kitten Robespierre in tow to rescue her from a nefarious playboy cat with sinister plans for the naive country girl cat. If you've never seen it, you should look it up, seeing how rare it is to find good movies that favor cats.
Katie Cat, I hope you enjoy it! And hey, just for giggles, if you've never tried Natsume's Book of Friends, watch this video that features the cat, Nyanko-sensei, set to "Mean Kitty". It's funny and adorable. (Don't be put off by Nyanko-sensei's funny appearance, he's meant to look like a Japanese bobtail cat, which is the cat they model their Maneki-neko (beckoning cat) figurines after in Japan.) ua-cam.com/video/kksus74Zpik/v-deo.html
I honestly still really hate Wreck it Ralph 2. Not just for missed opportunities like Felix and Calhoun, but because two things: Ralph completely swaps personality from the previous movie and the humor was awful. It was beautifully animated but i couldn't stand most of it. It was so cringy.
Gameboy224 But the stupid things he does in the second movie doesnt feel like him at all. In the movie he just acted like a huge man baby that almost destroyed 2 fukin games in the span of a movie just because boo hoo my friend has her own life goals and dreams and she’ll abandon me again b o o h o o
6:23 thank you for telling me about Maquia! I proceeded to watch it and ended up balling my eyes out at 3 am while some Japanese music played. Which cemented it as my favorite movie of all time.
My favorite is obviously Spider-Verse but The Night Is Short was actually a close runner up for me, it was just such a ridiculously positive experience that I could watch over and over again
Honestly, what bothered me more than the Mr. Mom trope in Incredibles 2 was the fact that Vi and Dash didn't immediately realize that the glowing goggles were what was controlling the supers when they saw the brainwashed supers put them on Frozone, who immediately attacked them. It was a glaring plot hole for me, and I was really bugged that it wasn't addressed at all.
The only 2019 animated films I’m interested in seeing: - LEGO Movie 2 and HTTYD 3: Duh - Secret Life of Pets 2: Eh, it’ll be fine I guess. - Toy Story 4 and Frozen 2: Like everyone, I’m not sure if they’re necessary but we’ll see. - Spies in Disguise: Interesting cast, not sure about the premise. - The Addams Family: Seeing this for the exciting cast alone (mostly Oscar Isaac, who’s so perfect as Gomez that I wish this film was live action). Curious to see what’s in store for this animated version.
I think it will be interesting to see Disney properly try to do a sequel to fairytale film with Frozen 2 (instead of the direct to dvd sequels) the way it was nice to see them try a sequel with Wreck-It Ralph after so long since Resquers Down Under. And maybe Toy Story 4 finally adressed why toys are sentient. But I hope they don’t try to do give sequels to new films. And I am a tad worried too.
@Katie Lewis I already like the new characters and the concept of the separate world. It can be as average as it is, doesn't stop me from buying the tie-in sets.
Steven Vo Im honestly really scared for how Frozen 2’s gonna turn out. It feels very uneccessary for a sequel, and probably just another pointless cash grab.
Limited release and today was the last day where I am. Luckily, I went to see it with my dad. Such a masterpiece, yet heartbreaking film. I'm so happy they played it cause more people need to see it! :)
Fun fact of the Day: Alan Menken came back to Disney to do the "Slaughter Race" song in Ralph Breaks the Internet. I was surprised to see that considering he hasn't worked with Disney in such a long time.
I love how mumbley and strangely organic the dialogue and/or voice acting is is Isle of Dogs. It’s so immersive yet so “uncanny valley” These types of movies really leave an imprint.
It is mostly because the villain was just soo...... ugh. I mean The Incredibles 1 had great animation (it is slightly dated now) its dialogue was great, soundtrack was absolutely stunning, but what really made the movie into a legend was its villain. Incredibles 2 had a great sountrack, amazing animation, dialogue was still good, and the soundtrack was good but the villain was lack luster with a stupid motivation, a stupid plan, and was way to obvious.
@@princessthyemis In a nutshell, Justin Y. is a person who just comments on a ton of videos and somehow got famous (and somewhat hated) by essentially being everywhere.
Songs used in this video: - Hooked on a Feeling - Blue Swede - Best Day Ever - SpongeBob SquarePants (from his show which is my most favorite) - Wonderful Life - Zendaya (from the "Smallfoot" soundtrack) - Kids Guide to the Internet - Idk - Arwen's Song - Liv Tyler (from the "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" soundtrack) - Nostalgia - Tobu - Odd Future - Jonathan Young (from "My Hero Academia") - I Love My Dog - Cat Stevens - I Think I'm a Clone Now - "Weird Al" Yankovic
I already knew I was in for something when the video started with an audio sample of "Hooked on A Feeling" by Blue Swede. Somehow you really cater to my taste in music.
The Incredibles 2, ah yes the most PREDICTABLE MOVIE I HAVE EVER WATCHED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! Like, I feel like Screenslavers identity was revealed/ confirmed to early for me. I still think it was a cute movie where kids finally take the lead in a movie like that, but maybe they could have done a better job with keeping things a secret :/
I'd swap Incredibles 2 and Wreck-It Ralph. With Incredibles 2, it was an enjoyable movie, but they back pedaled really hard on specific character's arcs (especially Bob, who went from a well-meaning dad who wants to still feel like a hero, but makes an honest effort to help and bond with his kids, but grows into a man who relies and relishes in his family and accepts their equal roles as superheroes, into a man whose never spent any time with his kids and is back to wanting to relive his glory days), barely does anything with them at all (Dash went from a compelling character who wanted to be pushed by life, and felt his talents were being squandered, to being LOUD and comic relief), and the villain wasn't nearly as good as Syndrome. On the other hand, I felt like Wreck-It Ralph 2 naturally progressed the characters, and was a really entertaining character study for the two leads, and we got just enough of Felix and Calhoun (their sub-plot was really funny, and didn't need to be touched on much, IMO).
I can understand you there but from what I get of my brother falling asleep when he and my mum went to watch wreck it Ralph 2 I'd say in my opinion Incredibles 2 is more interesting to watch
I really didn’t like wreck it ralph 2 and while this is unfair because I never watched the emoji movie or the grinch, I think it was one of the worst films I’ve ever seen
Hey, Cellspex. I'm a huge fan of HTTYD and I got to watch the new sequel a couple weeks ago and let me say this: You have nothing to fear, In my opinion, it's just as good, if not better than the second one.
The Night is Short, Walk on Girl is my number one favorite film of 2018 while Mirai is my second favorite from last year. Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse is my number three while Isle of Dogs finishes off my number five spot (The Favourite is the only live action to hit my top five of 2018 list).
I'm kind of sad The night is short, walk on girl was so low on the list. I think the night is surreal so we can focus on the characters and how they're caught up in their idiosyncrasies, it's an excuse to put characters in the ideal situations for them to express themselves. Underwear is lost in romasnticism, his friend is an elitist that feels so alone in his elite bubble that he needs to create a persona in order to feel wanted, Kōhai (the two protagonists are unnamed) is so focused on moving foreward that she doesn't notice the things that pass her by, it's what keeps her immune to the disease. and sempai is too stuck in his own head to take action, that's why his revelation is "don't think, do what you feel", he's about as much of a creepy stalker as the guys who loiter around in the caffeteria at around the time their crush comes by in hopes of making small talk, and actively tries to go to parties where he knows she'll be, which is almost every guy I know. Also I think the acohol is more about kouhai's arc and less about an excuse to make the night surreal, surrealism is just the way this writer does his thing, there's not much (if any) drinking in tatami galaxy, but it's just as crazy. Also I agree, small foot is definitely the film that exceeded expectations.
Yes, you said everything I wanted to say! I enjoyed Night is Short so so so much, and I never got too much of a stalkerish vibe from Senpai. Heck, when his friend offered him all the information on Kohai, he straight-up refuses! The only bit he gets is about Kohai's childhood book. I loved the symbolism with time and the watches and all of the seasons going by in one night, it was just such a fun film.
My film list : Spider-Man : Into the Spider-Verse : A Spectacular film , probably the best one of the year . Incredibles 2: good but prefer original a little better. Teen Titans go to the movies : A fun surprise. Ralph Breaks the internet : pretty good ,slightly on par with the original. Hotel Transylvania 3: Probably the 2nd best film in the franchise . Small foot : A quite decent Musical . Next gen : pretty entertaining Netflix film . Sherlock Gnomes : A alright sequel to the first sequel . Isle of dogs : Yet another great animated film from Wes Anderson So this was an overall pretty great year for animation .😁👌
I think Ralph’s character went out the window in Wreck it Ralph 2, he seemed like a big goofy bathroom humor teddy bear, rather than an ex- villain with character.

Cell, you've got nothing to worry about How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, The movie released here in Australia on January 3rd, I saw it and it is fantastic.
Spider-Ham from Into the Spider-verse or in general: Do you have a problem with animation?! *hits the bullies (that treat animation like a mindless genre for little kids) with a Piko-Piko Hammer*

I've seen how to train your dragon 3. (i live in Australia where it came out January 3rd) and in my opinion, it relies strongly on whether or not you like the light fury. if you dont like her, the film will feel hollow and kinda contrived. if you like her, bada bing bada boom good film. but the animation is stunning (there was one shot of a candle that i am CONVINCED was a live action shot) and it is very emotional, even if some plots do kinda flop. if you're a long-time fan its a good end, if you're a casual viewer it may not be quite as good. and lets just say if you read the books, this movie does the speech. you know the one. the prologue speech. but in my theatre of over 40 people ranging from seven to seventy, i think only three or four people got out without crying.
And to think the one of the most powerful lines of, not only the film, but also comic book movies in general, came from a cartoon pig! "The hardest thing about this job is...you can't always save everybody"
I regret not watching spiderverse now. My parents always asked, "do you want to watch it?" "Yeah but not now" Welp, now I have to download the movie and watch it myself :v
9:50 The movie, in my opinion, actually dodges that cliché, as Bob does help Dash with his homework after a bit, and starts to push Violet to talk to Tony, but it’s Jack-Jack and his powers that drives him crazy.
One film that definitely flew under the radar this year was "Ruben Brandt, Collector." An amazing little Hungarian film with one of the most fascinating animation styles of the year that really makes you feel like you're in a bit of a drug trip. The story is definitely captivating and has several pretty eye catching sequences! If you get a chance, I'd highly recommend watching it, the English dub is honestly not too bad!
Ok but like I love Spiderman: Spider verse so much 😭😭 all the characters are so beautiful AND THAT SCENE AT THE END WHERE HES SWINGING FROM BUILDINGS IS LITERALLY MY DREAM TO DO IN REAL LIFE AND THAT SCENE WAS TOO AMAZING OMG I SIMP FOR MILES SO BAD DONT @ ME! 😭😭😭😍😍😭
I loved the animation style of Spider-Verse. The way it was made to look like a comic book and the different styles of the spider people was amazing. I also cried like five times, which is pretty emotional for a kids movie. The humor wasn't forced or out of place and the characters were on point. The action sequenced were amazing, I almost fainted, and Miles' character development was astounding. The post credit scene was so well-done to. The teaee for a sequel, along with the joke reference to the old spidey show were blended unusually well. My fave animated movie of this year by far.

I made an essay for school about why the movie Spider Into The Spiderverse should be valid as an artistic/cultural visit review because I loved it!
Incredibles 1 was so much better.
Trevor Dustin How would you make a a villain as good as Syndrome?
This is an underrated comment^ I just genuinely didn’t find anything innovative or enthralling about the film. I just didn’t enjoy the experience.
Hey wait! Are you saying incredibles 2 was bad? HOW DARE YOU! Plus, where's my super suit so I can crush you?

Plot Twist: Someone makes a movie where cats are the good guys??? Please???
@Ya boi, JayBea yes yes like that but a movie and animated
@@ReneandMae hey that sounds awesome (or should i say... PAWSOME????) ((i'm so sorry)). I will definetly look into it, thanks so much!
I hate that movie too. It sucks.😒
Espeon Fan 0208 Oh lord I agree. Ralph’s relationship with Vanelope was clingy and verbally abusive and the movie was sooo unoriginal
Espeon Fan 0208 wreck it Ralph was my favorite animated movie, the 2nd one kind of ruined my views on Ralph
I can't remember much from the first one as need to rewatch it but saw the second one last night, it was ok but not something I will watch very often
Which cemented it as my favorite movie of all time.
also, who is zendaIYA???? disresPECT!!
The only 2019 animated films I’m interested in seeing:
- LEGO Movie 2 and HTTYD 3: Duh
- Secret Life of Pets 2: Eh, it’ll be fine I guess.
@Katie Lewis Wanna bet?
@Katie Lewis I already like the new characters and the concept of the separate world.
It can be as average as it is, doesn't stop me from buying the tie-in sets.
@Katie Lewis I can sense the passive-aggressiveness from here.
Steven Vo Im honestly really scared for how Frozen 2’s gonna turn out.
It feels very uneccessary for a sequel, and probably just another pointless cash grab.
I see that Odd Future cover there CellSpex. And I adore it!

I went to the comments to see how many comments there were about this but im just gonna stop at this one

Oh hey, random Jonathan Young cover of a My Hero Academia OP. Didn't expect to see you here.
Incredibles 2 was surprisingly underwhelming, I'm gonna be honest.

@@Spamlum It came out here in Australia on January 3rd

How To Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World
I'd swap Incredibles 2 and Wreck-It Ralph.
I get that.
I can understand you there but from what I get of my brother falling asleep when he and my mum went to watch wreck it Ralph 2 I'd say in my opinion Incredibles 2 is more interesting to watch

In my country, How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World was already released. Trust me, it's good and definitely worth watching in my opinion!
Ruben Brandt Collector will be coming out to NYC theaters (limited of course) in the middle of February.
I have to thank you for introducing me to Maquia. It makes the very small list of movies that have made me cry.
Cellspex: this is no *silent voice*
Me, remembering silent voice: *sniiiiiiiff*
Cellspex: shows list of coming movies
Me: hol up hol up *MINECRAFT?!*
Yeah, and Steve Carell is going to play Steve
My film list : Spider-Man : Into the Spider-Verse : A Spectacular film , probably the best one of the year .
Incredibles 2: good but prefer original a little better.
Teen Titans go to the movies : A fun surprise.
Ralph Breaks the internet : pretty good ,slightly on par with the original.
Hotel Transylvania 3: Probably the 2nd best film in the franchise .
Small foot : A quite decent Musical .
Next gen : pretty entertaining Netflix film .
Sherlock Gnomes : A alright sequel to the first sequel .
Isle of dogs : Yet another great animated film from Wes Anderson
So this was an overall pretty great year for animation .😁👌
I think Ralph’s character went out the window in Wreck it Ralph 2, he seemed like a big goofy bathroom humor teddy bear, rather than an ex- villain with character.

Syndrome is the best Pixar villain. Also, what's the credits song?
