I had to sit through Leap! (Also known as Ballerina) at a friend's house because of his little sister, and I was cringing at how terrible they did on the setting... If its set in the time of the building of the statue of liberty and Eiffel Tower, at no point should the main girl be able to wear denim shorts like she did. Yeah, she's an orphan, so wearing old boy's trousers could have been done if it was the only garment she owned, but she had a skirt, and its the late 1800s. Another thing to note is that the construction of the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower didn't overlap. The Statue of Liberty was built in 1875, the Eiffel Tower in 1887. Also, it should have been bronze still, not green from time and oxidation of the metal. Also, she would have most likely worn a longer tutu skirt when performing as, even for the women in the advanced level, short tutu skirts like that weren't terribly common yet. most still reached at least the knee, and for a child, they never would have allowed such an indecent article of clothing to be worn. (And I'm going off of photographs of actual dancers of the time, and even beyond the time up until the 1920s.) I had more of an issue with the lack of consistency and research than anything else in that film. I know its a children's film, but that's not even trying, like, at all. So there you go, my little ramble...
Leap is a good movie. I thought about how the statue of liberty shouldn't have been green or even assembled as it almost wasn't cause the us almost couldn't pay to do it and it was still in France. That doesn't mean it cant be a good movie. They're using shorthand and trying to show us things we are used to, like when Hercules kneels in Hercules when he visits Zeus's temple. He wouldn't have actually done that back then but we are used to it so that's how it's shown. They arent making huge inaccuracies, only ones needed to further the plot.
@@Kate-es9of no, me and my little sister watch it a lot for sister time and I think it's awesome. Especially the last couple scenes from where she beats out camille for the part. That dance scene is freaking awesome and so is the scene where she's going up the Eiffel Tower. I mean not as good but still good.
As a dancer, I have issues with dancing en pointe in boots, and weird technical things that even little kids get right not being shown in the movie. Ie there is a specific way to hold your hands in ballet (thumb and forefinger almost touch) blondie would definitely have that habit but the protagonist definitely would not. They didn’t add the little details, the differences in technique. If they did way more dancers would want to see it.

What do you think a bomb is? 'Smurfs: The Lost Village' made a lot of money $200 million worldwide on a paltry $60 million budget. All 3 Smurf's films have been very profitable for Sony.
Ushio01 Really? Wow! I heard that it bombed. (Although keep in mind, there are other expenses that a movie needs to compensate for to be profitable. The 'Peanuts' movie, even though it made $238 million, still didn't make enough to satisfy Blue Sky studios for whatever reason). In all seriousness, though, 'Smurfs: The Lost Village' looks really good for having only a $60 million budget-not that lower-budgeted CGI film can't look good (Captain Underpants, for example).

Leap is what I know it as, in the comments they were like, “in ballerina they were so inaccurate” I got what they were talking about, just confused me a little
I do agree that "Leap" was falsely-marketed, but disagree with some of the things you take issue with. -Felicie doesn't just become a master. She has a lot of natural talent, and she trains hard. -She also actually LOSES to the other girl. The only reason she gets the role is because the other girl gives it to her, after realizing just how talented she really is. -There's a reason she doesn't just get kicked out of her class right away. First, she got accepted because the teacher was pressured into the girl she was impersonating as a favor to someone. He fully intended to kick the worst girl out after each class. Initially, it was just due to luck, not skill, that she was able to remain, though she did eventualyl get better. -Also, don't think the handsome boy was actually a prince?
Yeah you pretty much got it. Except the dude was a prince, felicy makes a point of it when talking to victor. But I do think her training was very rushed and/ or forced. She doesn't become a master, but the pacing of the story makes it seem like she is since she goes on pointe shoes in like a week.
Man, that intro was killer. Just goes to show that good editing can make even the shittiest movies look watchable. Let's just hope it doesn't get some BS copyright takedown like a previous one.
Wait, didn't France make the ballet movie? The statue of liberty would've been brown during construction....did...no one think about that throughout the whole course of animating it? I mean...its a small detail no one really cares about, but still. Would've been a good touch if they wanted it there in the first place
hey listen, nitpicking the green statue (though it is a good point) is ignoring the BIG DANCE BATTLE THAT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE. Dancing on the back of chairs???? The huge leap down those big as stairs???? Hon her legs are BROKEN after wards. Not to mention the fact that she would have FOR SURE landed on the Stairs MUCH sooner, and tumbled her way down the rest. The whole final battle is absolutely ridiculous.
Leap is the kind of cheesy movie dancers will love on their way to make their way in the dance scene. It's like Ice Princess being so loved by figure skaters.
What almost killed Boss Baby forme was how overly advertised it was. everytime I turned on the TV, "BOSS BABY! BOSS BABY!!" whenever I went to the store, "BOSS! BABY!" ads on UA-cam or kindle, "BOSS BABY!" it was constantly in my face all the time every where I went.

You also seem to follow the TV series, making you extra qualified to review the movie. Do you think you could ever review the show considering that very few reviews for the series are on UA-cam even though it has been airing for the past 7 years?
Even though I would say Coco is the best, on a personal level, My Little Pony: The Movie is the best in my opinion. It's not to say my opinion is great or anything, it's important to me because it's inspirational and it keeps me going in life (and Friendship is Magic). Also MLP movie displays that some people aren't afraid to step away from the trends, and make a movie they way they feel it should be made.
To make myself clear, when I said "it's inspirational and it keeps me going in life (and Friendship is Magic)" I just meant MLP. And when I said as well "Also MLP movie displays that some people aren't afraid to step away from the trends" I meant the creators of the movie. Sorry to those who may have been confused to what I said.
7:14 you know I’m thinking of how much more interesting the story would be if the inventor boy (I can’t even remember his name) Sheridan half or even more of the screen time. Or if their stories interlocked more in anyway. Like if they interacted more than five times in the movie.
I appreciate the placement of the Ninjago Movie, it seems fair to me. But even more so, I appreciate the knowledge that the movie was so far off from the deep lore and characters of the original. Even if it technically doesn't change the movie in any way, it was nice to hear.

The Captain Underpants Movie, as a person who read and loved the books when I was younger, was PERFECT. They captured George and Harold perfectly, Mr. Krupp was glorious, and just every character was so perfect to what you imagined in the books. The animation was amazing and I loved it. 10/10, would watch again if Netflix didnt suddenly snatch it away for no reason.
But srsly ever since I saw the puppet bit on your Strange Magic review, I fell in love with your channel. Still got chills from last year’s intro. Cya, Spex 😋
I liked Leap, or Ballerina, whatever they're calling it but it should've had more development with Felice and the plot itself, and the movie needed waaaaaay more Victor in there. I honestly didn't think Felice was half bad when interacting with Victor, they had nice character chemistry (aside from that rooftop dinner scene, yeesh). I did think that Victor had a nice charm and had some of the best jokes.
The one character that I also felt could've gotten more development is Odette. Her small backstory about being a former ballerina with injuries was interesting and could've been flesh out a lot more in relations to the plot.
The Boss Baby gets ranked higher than both Despicable Me 3 and Ferdinand? I would disagree there. The same for Smurf: The Lost Village to a lesser extent, but you otherwise got a reasonable list there. I also found both Rock Dog and Leap/Ballerina a bit okay with their premises, even though both movies are about as generic a they come in the end. It's also worth noting that The Emoji Movie became the first animated feature to gain the most Razzie nods. So if it ends up 'winning' an award there, that would be quite an accomplishment!

Ballerina was called Leap for me or at least on Netflix it is
I watched it on Redbox, trust me, it said Leap.
Leap is what I know it as, in the comments they were like, “in ballerina they were so inaccurate” I got what they were talking about, just confused me a little
Same here
Its called ballerina on Netflix
@@thatonecandor hi e-scope
-Also, don't think the handsome boy was actually a prince?
... okie dokie
Also, the only reason she got INTO the dance school in the first place was that she committed Identity Theft.
SyberiaWinx handsome boy was a duke
Unfortunately the wishy washy guy is a prince...
Yeah you pretty much got it. Except the dude was a prince, felicy makes a point of it when talking to victor. But I do think her training was very rushed and/ or forced. She doesn't become a master, but the pacing of the story makes it seem like she is since she goes on pointe shoes in like a week.

Jesus, that intro is freakin' EMOTIONAL!
Man, that intro was killer. Just goes to show that good editing can make even the shittiest movies look watchable. Let's just hope it doesn't get some BS copyright takedown like a previous one.
She made a clip of the emoji movie look good
Ye it's annoying when stuff like that happens
Wait, didn't France make the ballet movie? The statue of liberty would've been brown during construction....did...no one think about that throughout the whole course of animating it? I mean...its a small detail no one really cares about, but still. Would've been a good touch if they wanted it there in the first place
That Guy Maestro I was just thinking that!
No Canada Did
Spoopy Memey Book you... you better be trolling...
hey listen, nitpicking the green statue (though it is a good point) is ignoring the BIG DANCE BATTLE THAT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE.
No but you don’t understand. That bothered me the ENTIRE movie
Your editing makes even the shitty ones look good.
Have you ever tried editing?

Leap is the kind of cheesy movie dancers will love on their way to make their way in the dance scene. It's like Ice Princess being so loved by figure skaters.
Yeah, Leap! IS geared towards dancers like me, with the goofy side-characters for the non-dancers to laugh their butts off at!
I feel that way for the friggin Sherlock gnomes movie

I never thought you overpraised the Lego Ninjago Movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and your review as you were one of the few reviewers who thought it deserved better than a 51% on Rotten Tomato.

Like if they interacted more than five times in the movie.
little did CellSpex know that Into The Spider Verse was coming next....
I appreciate the placement of the Ninjago Movie, it seems fair to me. But even more so, I appreciate the knowledge that the movie was so far off from the deep lore and characters of the original. Even if it technically doesn't change the movie in any way, it was nice to hear.
I always look forward to these, especially with the intro, always makes even the bad movies look good with the music

0/10 - The Worst
1/10 - Atrocious
2/10 - Awful
3/10 - Bad
4/10 - Subpar
5/10 - Ok
6/10 - Solid
7/10 - Good
8/10 - Great
9/10 - Excellent
10/10 - The Best
That is exactly how I rated the MLP movie. The fans overhype it which isn't surprising. Anything above a 7/10 is a bit excessive.
Sean S Silent Voice= 10/10
How was Tom and Jerry not a 1/10?
Blake Gilbert because i didn't think The Animation and The Characters were that bad enough to put into the Awful category but the film itself i still found as an awful movie for it's atrocious writing and how it lazily rehashed the original Willy Wonka to add Tom and Jerry into the film. my ratings for the film are
The Story: 1/10 (Atrocious)
The Animation: 3/10 (Bad)
The Characters: 3/10 (Bad)
Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - 2/10 (Awful)

The Captain Underpants Movie, as a person who read and loved the books when I was younger, was PERFECT. They captured George and Harold perfectly, Mr. Krupp was glorious, and just every character was so perfect to what you imagined in the books. The animation was amazing and I loved it. 10/10, would watch again if Netflix didnt suddenly snatch it away for no reason.

I really enjoy these videos!! Nice job :)
I'm not even watching these movies in a particular order, but these intros just keep getting better as I keep going... Good on you, lass.
Leap was one of the most amazing films I’ve ever seen in my life
I liked Leap, or Ballerina, whatever they're calling it but it should've had more development with Felice and the plot itself, and the movie needed waaaaaay more Victor in there.
Wait they actually announced Despicable Me 4?
Landon Legate wait what
No No No Nooooooooooooooooo
Luigi Marinus 3 I can. Oh believe me, I can wait.
Landon Legate yayyyyyyyyyyy!

Great intro as always, Celly!!
Looking forward to seeing these!
I love how your montage makes all of the less good movies look as epic as the good movies because you pulled out all the visually interesting parts.
I’m sorry, but honestly I LOVED the mlp movie. I thought it was great. Also, THAT INTRO WAS GREAT CELLSPEX!!
