TheTheaterPokeball The ending wasn't what people may have wanted it to be and that disappoints them but I think it was what the movie needed. The Corpse Bride means SO MUCH to me and Emily is one of my all time favourite characters so I'm not in ANY WAY against her. She and Tim Burton helped make me who I am and she will forever be one of the most amazing and beautiful characters ever created in existence to me. That being said, She got taken adavantage of just for simply having the dream to be a bride and then got it taken away, BUT she still lived with the beautiful hope that one day she would get her chance and she thought she had it with victor. She and victor clicked instantly. They were almost exactly the same if u really look at them. I think in a relationship, It's rlly beautiful when someone's faults are the others strengths and they help each other where they need help. Victoria was that person for Victor- Not completely similar but he was there for her where she needed him to be and she was there for him where he needed her to be. Emily decided of her own free will that she once had a dream of being a bride but her joy in seeing Victoria getting the dream she once dreamed of having and seeing victor truly be happy when he couldn't have been with her anymore anyways filled her with the internal peace she needed to truly move on and be happy despite the tragic turn her life had taken. ANY other ending would be cheap try hard and take away from the beautiful sacrifice this movie is working up to NOT victors death but Emily's acceptance and how Victor helped her get to that point. So yes she was meant to meet victor and maybe in another time when she was alive they could have been married but the way both of their stories went, victor was there to show Emily how to move on and help her feel the peace she desperately craved and needed and what I think her real dream was after dying.
TheTheaterPokeball YES it was bittersweet and I know people like 100% happy and they think that Victor and Emily would be a perfect couple and I'm not disagreeing that they would work together but even from the very first time he met Victoria he showed her how to play piano a world that her parents had previously told her not to because of the strict Victorian rules they followed as nobles. He has so many beautiful things to show her and with victor she could truly be free and be with someone who loves her something her rich very uptight and self confidence damaging nearly loveless family failed to do for her. I think Victoria needs Victor and Victor needs Victoria. The ONLY other potential ending is Victor dies or Emily gets brought back to life which throws everything he had with victoria away and I think he truly had nearly equal feelings for both of them but Emily was a slight case of wrong place wrong time so comparing them isn't even fair in a way. That would be a cheap and useless ending especially when they worked to show that thought it was arranged he still loved and cared for Victoria deeply in a different way then he cared for Emily. There is absolutely no other way it could have ended other then the way it did and since I was 8 and even rlly like victor and Emily together just as much as Victor and Victoria I have ALWAYS believed that Tim Burton ended it beautifully and if you rlly think about it there is NO way to end it any other possible way without throwing away beautiful and precious character development and plot points that the movie spent over a hour showing us so wonderfully. Victoria is meant to be a parallel of what Emily was before she died and what she still strives to be until she realizes what she truly needs. she is NOT under any circumstances a antagonist regardless of what you personally think about her so a ending that doesn't take her feelings and life into consideration would be meaningless and very badly written. So victor marries Emily and Victoria winds up broke and living on the streets with almost no possibility of marriage and doing whatever job she can just to survive. How is that fair to her? Victor married Victoria and Emily finally finds the mental peace she needed to forgive and move on to a better place EVERYONE WINS Yes it's sad but sad doesn't mean it's a bad ending. Bittersweet endings are some of the most complex and beautifully written and I think to make it any different would be a insult to Tim Burtons beautiful and artistic masterpiece that he's created with corpse bride and with all his movies. Thank you :)
A really big arc in Emily's character that I really admire in the film is that, well- when you think of it, she's kinda selfish in the first act. Some poor guy ends up marrying her due to a misunderstanding (which he never really consented to), and she immediately whisks him away to her home, which is almost akin to a kidnapping. This is especially unfair to not only Victor, who, again, had no real consent in this, but it's also unfair to Victoria. Not only did Victoria and Victor both actually kind of got along, but Victoria kinda needed this marriage in order to not go broke. Plus, they're more or less a good match. Anyway- back to Emily here. She was so obsessed with finding her true love and having her dream come true- getting married to an awesome guy (especially as her last attempt ended with a stab in the back- or, I guess a blunt object to the head? Eh, anyway) she was kind of blinded by it all. And while I think the majority consensus was that Emily and Victor would work in different circumstances, they did kind of just get thrown into it. Though the important part is that after their fight, what Victor had said broke Emily out of her lovey-dovey trance. They're married- it's not just _her_ wants, _her_ dreams, _her_ wellbeing, it's *_theirs_*. Once she realizes the reality of it, (that technically I guess they don't really love each other yet, they have the potential to, though.) she becomes really sad, wondering if maybe the whole thing is a mistake. But the important thing is that it takes off her rose-colored glasses. She's not just blind to everything around her, and it makes their romance much more real, and she comes to learn about and care for Victor on a more personal level, and not just, "you put a ring on my finger". And cue, last scene, at the "official" wedding of Emily and Victor. There's two big moments of her heroism and sacrifice here, and yet I don't know which one to put first. Okay, I've picked one. Emily realizes that she loves Victor, and this isn't something you do to someone you love. Victor is a little emotionally unstable right now (which is evident by his rushing into the wedding with Emily, which I could say a lot about, but I am not going to), and it would be cruel to pull him into this eternal wedding with her. She also sees Victoria, and sees how much Victoria also likes Victor. Victoria was genuinely interested in Victor and she really did like him. And Emily realizes that not only is she stealing her very own dream from Victoria, but she's also killing Victor. Victor's still young, and has the world as his oyster, and Emily's cutting it short because of her own selfish dream. A dream that she already had her chance at, and lost. She realizes she can't do this to the both of them, and in a way, she did kind of get her dream. She was loved, at the end, and that helps her find peace. Cue butterflies, and heartbreak. A total flip of the start of the movie.
1:16 Straight to video fanfic sequels THANK YOU! The exact word 'fanfic' comes to my mind when it comes to the plot of a majority of those Disney direct to DVD sequels!
My thoughts on each film from both Part 1 and 2: Legends of Oz: NO! NO NO NO NO NO! DO NOT ruin one of the greatest classics with your cheap sub-par animation and childish writing! The Nut Job: Not bad, but could have been better Planes: Fire and Rescue: Not interested Henry & Me: Don't care for it Rio 2: Colourful and harmless The Congress: Never saw it, and wouldn't want to Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart: Different (in a good way) Mr. Peabody and Sherman: Cute, innocent fun Penguins of Madagascar: Silly The Book of Life: AMAZING! I LOVE IT! Favourite movie thus far! The Boxtrolls: Okay, I guess (please don't hurt me!) Song of the Sea: Beautiful designs The Tale of Princess Kaguya: Unique animation choice Big Hero 6: Great, funny, and touching (I legitimately teared up at some parts) How to Train Your Dragon 2: A nice improvement from the original The Lego Movie: Hilarious, colourful, and a new modern favourite
I loved Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart, because the concept of the story was so fascinating for me. I liked the Gothic Tim-Burton style, mixed with Steam punk and Shakespeare because it was just something else to me and the music was just something else. It's not the style of music I normally listen to, nor like for that matter, but it somehow fit the mood to convince me that I liked the music (I eventually found the soundtrack and listened to it everyday after I first watched the movie). The ending I also found very upsetting, although I won't spoil it for people who want to watch, but I will say like she said, the movie was very Romeo and Juliet style, but more heartbreaking. In my opinion anyway. Overall, it is one of the most memorable films I have ever watched and has scarred my heart permanently, but in a good way 😊
i know it must be odd to have someone tell you your youtube videos are nostalgic for them, but i will never forget that opening AMV. what a moment in time
I agree it was good, but it was also very lazy with the music. If you listen to Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bride you can hear that Danny Elfman recycled a lot of things. I just felt like parts of it was a little copy past.
Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart honestly saved my life in 2016. After a long long period of depression and absolute apathy regarding my life, JATCCH was the first thing to make me feel something in months... I’m so glad that you talked about it here. It really needs more recognition. Just one small correction, the concept album was actually paired with an entire novel, not a picture book. I highly recommend reading the novel. It’s very different from the movie, but it’s still phenomenal and I actually liked it better. It’s a LOT more adult asnit follows Jack throughout his own adulthood, not just for when he’s a child/teenager (Jack can handle a lot more than kissing. He also has a hamster name cunnilingus bc the prostitutes that occasionally stop by like to teach him how to say dirty words without ever telling him what they mean and the poor lad thought it was like a fucking Roman soldier). Honestly though I love the album, the book, and the movie so so much. And I’m so happy that you talked about it.

My favorite year of animation is 2014. I think last year had the most breathtaking animation I have ever seen. Except for the nut job, lengends of oz, and planes fire and rescue. But I did really love the lego movie, the book of life, big hero 6, and especially how to train your dragon 2.
Actually, I like a number of those straight to video Disney sequel movies. Not all of them because some don't make sense (as in the are more like a prequel or what happened before) but a number of them are really good
"I still basically enjoyed it." Yeah, me too! The story was really interesting, and- "At the very least, I prefer it to Corpse Bride." **Literal jaw drop**
Please give AniMat paid Patreon requests that are to review Everyone's Hero (which AniMat would give a 4/10 to the story, 8/10 to the animation, 6/10 to the characters and 16/28 points overall aka a 6/10) and Henry & Me (which AniMat might give a 3/10 to the story, 8/10 to the animation, 3/10 to the story and 12/28 points aka a 5/10 at its very lowest).
It doesn't matter how many times I watch this, I still forget about the first movie. I always think "movie we forget about? Oh, Justin and the Knights of Valor right?" no, it's the one we forget about.
The planes fire and rescue in the very last fire scene legitimately had me stressed, I was constantly on the edge. Obviously everything before that was unimpressive, but the last fire was the best part
Jack and the coocoo-clock heart had the main character actually die on screen like you can see him slowly dyeing and how painfully hard it is for the girl (i cant remember her name) to see him go so yeah there was that
okay was anyone else kind of jamming out when cellspex was reviewing Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock heart because that background music or song was just bomb for me.
I feel like people need to know about this. Disney made a sequel to The Wizard of Oz (not Oz the Great and Powerful, that is a prequel and it's not half bad). It's a fantasy mystery called Return to Oz and it's fucking horror.
OK! I have to say that I haven't even watch the full video, but that opening compilation was INCREDIBLE!!! Ok....whew... Now, I'll actually go and watch the rest of the video.
As much as I hated The Nut Job, I am glad to hear the director is actually listening to the criticism it received for the sequel, so if I see a positive reaction, I might actually see it.
Thanks I forgot how much I personally loved Rio 2 and how the music was absolutely gorgeous. The movie itself might have not been as good as the first but I still loved it
I just happened to stumble across your channel and I'm in love. I dig your animation, your style of communicating your thoughts, and your reviews are well thought out. You're a wonderful breath of fresh air and I can't wait to binge on your content. Thanks and keep up the awesome work. ♡
Omg I'll admit that Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart has it's flaws, but I loved this movie!! In all of it's zainy weirdness. And I loved the ending. I've gotten tired of straightforward, in your face, easy solution endings. And this one didn't do that. I have a soft spot for movies that have a conflict that has no answer, go through a lesson, but in the end the conflict that's impossible to solve still is impossible. It shows the movie stuck with it's set rules for a world, that there wasn't some last minute magical solution. Like in A Monster Calls. No spoilers, but the movie had a problem, the character went through a lesson, but in the end there wasn't a magic solution. After I saw the Jack movie I bought the book and boy! Was I shocked that the book was MUCH more mature than the movie. But after comparing the two I was pleasantly surprised that the movie kept a lot of the rules and darker themes, but adapted it in a way that would be more suited with kids WITHOUT DUMBING IT DOWN. Like seriously, they kept the part where Jack poked out the bad guy's eye. Props. Though they did take out the mentions of sex understandably hah. Also, in the book the two ladies who visit Jack have a slightly more drawn out explantion. Turns out they're prostitutes and visit the old women to give birth and put the babys up for adoption. So they obvivously cut that info out. BUT THAT ANSWERED SO MANY QUESTIONS FOR THE MOVIE. Like why they were preggo in the beginning, why the one said she couldn't fancy love in her line of work. Like praises for the makers to hint at the more adult themes of the book in a subtle way. That's the main thing I like about this movie. It doesn't take kids as idiots. Which is what I hate about a lot of todays animation.
The Nut Job is my least favorite animated movie ever. I HATE IT. Nothing about it is memorable other than the fact that it uses "When can I see you again" from Wreck it Ralph! It's bland in every way! I can not remember ANYTHING about it! The characters are unlikable and selfish. The animation looks bad compared to the other CG movies that came out that year. Also can we talk about the title?
Extra points off to Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return for being involved in a scam. For those of you wanting to know more about that, go to AniMat's channel for two videos about the subject.

Straight to video fanfic sequels
THANK YOU! The exact word 'fanfic' comes to my mind when it comes to the plot of a majority of those Disney direct to DVD sequels!
Doesn't stop me from loving them all, anyway! ^_^
#IWinneRaLwaYs I really like Cinderella 3.
THANK YOU
I didn't hate Cars 2 either. =/
Kaywynn Jones I did
They couldn't even get the main character in the right spot on the poster!
WHO DOES THAT?!?!?
U and me both Kaywynn Jones
Kaywynn Jones I don't hate either
I hate both
It’s a guilty pleasure
My thoughts on each film from both Part 1 and 2:
Legends of Oz: NO! NO NO NO NO NO! DO NOT ruin one of the greatest classics with your cheap sub-par animation and childish writing!
The Nut Job: Not bad, but could have been better
Planes: Fire and Rescue: Not interested
Henry & Me: Don't care for it
Rio 2: Colourful and harmless
The Congress: Never saw it, and wouldn't want to
Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart: Different (in a good way)
Mr. Peabody and Sherman: Cute, innocent fun
Penguins of Madagascar: Silly
The Book of Life: AMAZING! I LOVE IT! Favourite movie thus far!
The Boxtrolls: Okay, I guess (please don't hurt me!)
Song of the Sea: Beautiful designs
The Tale of Princess Kaguya: Unique animation choice
Big Hero 6: Great, funny, and touching (I legitimately teared up at some parts)
How to Train Your Dragon 2: A nice improvement from the original
The Lego Movie: Hilarious, colourful, and a new modern favourite
I hurt you for calling The Boxtrolls okay.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Magic Note *Dies*
I actually hated Box Trolls, so I won’t hurt you
Because of Schaffrillas, whenever I saw someone said Big Hero 6, I always say "THAT WAS HIS MISTAKE!"
I literally JUST realized that Nut Job is NOT a spinoff of Over the Hedge.
Overall, it is one of the most memorable films I have ever watched and has scarred my heart permanently, but in a good way 😊
Si13nt Voice hello beautiful
i know it must be odd to have someone tell you your youtube videos are nostalgic for them, but i will never forget that opening AMV. what a moment in time

NOW THATS HOW AN INTRODUCTION SHOULD LOOK LIKE!!
She TOTALLY deserves way more subscribers!!!!!😬
Is it me or does the social worker in Peabody and Sherman look like and animated Umbridge from Harry Potter?
She reminded me of miss hattie from despicable me.
OH MY GOD I'VE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT-
To me she looks like what would happen if lord farquad (idk how to spell it) and umbridge had a child.
She’s the buff version of Dolores Cuntbridge
That intro is just *chef’s kiss*
Corpse Bride was awesome, HOW DARE YOU!
Ikr? I loved the video but CB is awesome, but I guess that's her opinion :)
I agree it was good, but it was also very lazy with the music. If you listen to Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bride you can hear that Danny Elfman recycled a lot of things. I just felt like parts of it was a little copy past.
***** It kind of was, you're right
Yeah i know
Jenifer Joseph I never apologize for loving every LANKA film (that is not Boxtrolls).
I haven’t seen Peabody and Sherman in a while, but I remember really liking it
ITS THE NUT JOB
Thank you. I was looking for this.

SBells27 impressive
Wtf
kudos to you for taking the time to do this
my mom forced me to watch the nut job...
someone please help
Wow. Your mother must have betrayed you and everyone else that know her.
The same thing happened to me. At least we also got to see The Lego Movie.
Same. Except it was both of my parents and they claimed it was "funny". Young me _could've_ been doing better things that damn weekend but *_nOoOoO_*
My favorite year of animation is 2014. I think last year had the most breathtaking animation I have ever seen. Except for the nut job, lengends of oz, and planes fire and rescue. But I did really love the lego movie, the book of life, big hero 6, and especially how to train your dragon 2.
That intro alone made me slap that like button
Thank you so much for making this
Notice that this video is 20 minutes and 14 seconds long
And before anyone replies, yes, I know that it's actually 20 minutes and 13 seconds long
No! It's 14!
I made this comment back when the video skipped a second before it ended. So technically, it WAS 13 seconds back then
[OOOOOOOOHHHHH
wow, your passion for animated stuff is truly heartwarming :.) that intro was just...awesome!
I would pay 50$ dollars for just the intro to this video.
Omg, I just keep replaying the damn intro
ET Iris same
Same
Did anyone else cry at Peabody’s backstory in this one, because I sobbed
I absolutely love the opening montage. I was shocked when I realized that the song was from Rio2.
Whenever I feel sad, I rewatch the opening to remind myself of the art of animation
It's hard to believe that all these movies officially turn 10 years old this year.
Actually, I like a number of those straight to video Disney sequel movies. Not all of them because some don't make sense (as in the are more like a prequel or what happened before) but a number of them are really good
Me, too! ^_^ I agree with you wholeheartedly! :D
That intro was DOPE AS HELL.
i honestly keep coming back to watch this intro
same here
five years later and I came back to this video just to watch that intro. A nice boost of motivation during 2020!
as LuigiFan said, "Damn, that intro."
"I still basically enjoyed it."
Yeah, me too! The story was really interesting, and-
"At the very least, I prefer it to Corpse Bride."
**Literal jaw drop**
intro is amazing ! Great job!
Amadeusz Pyzel Cellspex has such witty ideas of introductions.
0:00-0:42 the goosebumps are real
4:44 - 4:48 That is where you are wrong, CellSpex. I also don't hate Cars 2! I probably like it way more than the average Pixar fan....
I also kinda like it
You should still mention the ripoffs. They can be hilariously fun. Maybe give them a segment someday.
But that requires watching them
Mr.Glasses 😂😂
Out of all the opening montages you've done, THIS IS THE BEST!!!!!
Henry & Me is basically Everyone's Hero except he doesn't run away and he has cancer.
I’m unbelievably late to watch this, but I got chills from that intro
These videos are really good time capsules for the animated movies that came out in each year. I’m glad these videos exist.
I loved Mr. Peabody & Sherman! Still one of my favorite movies!
2014 brings me nostalgia
Where have you been all of my life, THIS IS EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE!
It doesn't matter how many times I watch this, I still forget about the first movie. I always think "movie we forget about? Oh, Justin and the Knights of Valor right?" no, it's the one we forget about.
Worth it just for the intro. Really well edited and great song choice
I know I’m late to the party, just wanted to give you the thumbs up
Celly I love your content, wish you were a more popular, excited for 2016 countdown
The intro was just purely nostalgia great job
The planes fire and rescue in the very last fire scene legitimately had me stressed, I was constantly on the edge. Obviously everything before that was unimpressive, but the last fire was the best part
I loved Jack and the coocoo clock heart. I haven't worked up the guts to share it with anyone, but it's got a spot in my heart.
"Wait for Hullabaloo to come out, it should only take 3 years"
6 years later......... 😭
Jack and the coocoo-clock heart had the main character actually die on screen like you can see him slowly dyeing and how painfully hard it is for the girl (i cant remember her name) to see him go so yeah there was that
Guess I won't be seeing Henry and me, because I'm a child with cancer who likes Hockey, drat the luck!
Man, that intro was amazing. Cell can make even the worst animated movies look decent.
7:18 um, wasn't that the song from brother bear 2?
okay was anyone else kind of jamming out when cellspex was reviewing Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock heart because that background music or song was just bomb for me.
I am amazed that I finally found someone who likes cars 2
Damn that intro.
Thank you rio thank you
I feel like people need to know about this.
Disney made a sequel to The Wizard of Oz (not Oz the Great and Powerful, that is a prequel and it's not half bad).
It's a fantasy mystery called Return to Oz and it's fucking horror.
that... intro...
omg what an amazing intro...
i want to congratulate whoever did that intro because it was beautiful and awesome.
Song of the sea was my fav movie for YEARS it’s soooo GOOD
Why did that intro make me so happy? I haven't even seen half of these movies.
I'M FROM THE FUTURE! Cars 3 was an ok movie, even though a bit cliche.
TaipeiJoey101 I'm still wondering about the ending. I liked the movie, but the ending...
but do you remember the reaction to the first trailer?
this was such a good year for animation
I also don’t hate Cars 2, I think is an OK film.
that intro still gives me goosebumps
That social worker lady is a Dolores Umbridge reject.
OK! I have to say that I haven't even watch the full video, but that opening compilation was INCREDIBLE!!! Ok....whew... Now, I'll actually go and watch the rest of the video.
As much as I hated The Nut Job, I am glad to hear the director is actually listening to the criticism it received for the sequel, so if I see a positive reaction, I might actually see it.
it feels like most of these movies came out yesterday, how did they come out 6 years ago
12:10-12:30 hits a bit different now lmao
true
Thanks I forgot how much I personally loved Rio 2 and how the music was absolutely gorgeous. The movie itself might have not been as good as the first but I still loved it
Good news Nut Job 2 wasn't released in 2016
Bad news It's coming out in 2017
HELP ME HELP ME PLEASE
PLEASE SAVE US LEGO BATMAN MOVIE!!!
Only thing that bugs me is the squirrel is purple and not grey like in the first movie
RiNickulous Productions AND IT DID!
That moment when you realized Nut Job 2 was pushed back for Norm of the North. .-.
GrumpyCat2097
Wait really?
The LEGO Batman Movie saved us to the point where it is a miracle. However, Nutty by Nature got tolerable.
DOES NO ONE WANT TO MENTION THE FRIGGEN FISH MATING AT 10:59?!??!
"A very french ending."
Ending script: Wi wi, we surrender to yew misuer Germon.
I just happened to stumble across your channel and I'm in love. I dig your animation, your style of communicating your thoughts, and your reviews are well thought out.
You're a wonderful breath of fresh air and I can't wait to binge on your content.
Thanks and keep up the awesome work. ♡
Don't worry, I like Cars 2 as well!
I admit that I did not enjoy that movie......
I respect that opinion tho
The intro was so amazing
“i prefer Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart over Corpse Bride”
blasphemy
well i prefer nightmare before christmas over frankenweenie because one is directed by tim burton.
I just watched Jack and the cuckoo-clock heart AND I LOVED IT. I AM NOT ASHAMED TO SAY THAT. IT IS NOW ONE OF MY TOP FIVE MOVIES
A monster calls is so amazing and nostalgic for me. It brings me back to sixth grade and how amazing my homeroom teacher was.
I went to go see the legend of Oz in theaters when I was five, and we had to leave half way through, because it terrified me.
