Today's country isn't nothing but 80"s pop music dressed up as country. When was the last time you heard a steel guitar, or good 4 part harmony. It just doesn't happen today. It is about selling records, not music. Thank God for you tube.
I took my sons to hear Mark in the early to mid 90's, when he put on a concert at our local fair. He stood and signed autographs for a very long time after his performance. What a great guy!
Take note of what your hearing here: The arrangement of this song is a nothing short of a tutorial on how to arrange a song...the percussion is absolutely incredible, one of the best drumsets in the history of the business, and then the killer closing with the great keyboard work, with the influence of Bruce Hornsby and the Range....absolutely incredibly advanced country song for it's day...a joy to listen to.
I haven’t heard this song in 15 years and it sounds like brooks and dunn completely ripped it off for “lost and and found. “. Is it me or is the majority of the song melody the same song with different lyrics?
I've always been a fan of Mark's music and it's great to see him portraying a Texas Sheriff on Landman. It's a shame that he has never received the recognition that he deserves for his music and talent because he's really great.
I also heard "Seminole Wind" by John Anderson and "Letting Go" by Suzie Boggus. There are probably a couple more but I can't think of them off the top of my head. But those three stand out. Thank you for the kind comment.
pocu321 i am glad that someone else can meet out of no where can meet and express the same feelings , God Bless. Even the man in the moon is still crying.
Sorry for your loss, my Wife died in 2013, My MOM in 2017. TIME and MEMORIES ARE ALL WE HAVE, SPEND THE YOUR TIME WITH THE ONES YOU LOVE AND LEAVE THEM WITH GOOD MEMORIES
Ahh the 90's Mark Collie, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith RIP, Tim McGraw, Clint Black, Travis Tritt, Randy Travis, Joe Diffie RIP, Trace Adkins, the list just goes on.... George Strait always my favorite too, he goes back a little though
I had the privilege of playing in a couple of top notch country bands all through the 90's in Dallas. Got to open for a lot of Nashville acts. This was a staple song on our set list. In Dallas, we do the Texas 3 step to songs with this groove and there were plenty of them in the 90's. Best times of my life were those days. Nothing beats 90's country. Today's country sucks, I can hardly listen to any of it. I like Easton Corbin's stuff though. He's got the Strait twang.
This is one of the many great songs I remember from my childhood. Wasn't till I got grown and actually listened to the lyrics after I found it on UA-cam that he was singing about his daughter. It's like u can feel his heartache. I'm a full fledged metal head now but never lost or plan to lose my country roots bc that's what I was raised on. Lots of good memories tied to songs like this. Back when country music was still good
I saw Mark as the opener for Tanya Tucker at the Greek Amphitheater in L.A.in.92. He came out and COMMANDED the Stage , CHARISMA like ELVIS, LATER He came out did a Duet with Tanya it was MAGICAL. Both BANDS WERE KILLER. THANKX MARK!!!!!!
***** I know it is just disgusting how a lot of the country artists have sold out!!! There is no country sound anymore!!! Very few and far country artists have that sound!! I was watching the voice and Shelton gave this a kid a song by Bad English and Blake said that song would be considered country music today!!! That just sealed it for me knowing how bad country has gotten
In the '90s, I saw Mark Collie open for Johnny Cash at a club in Manhattan. Towards the end of Cash's set, he invited Collie back out and they did "I Still Miss Someone" as a duet. Those were the days.
Mark Collie was always a very underrated country artist, in my opinion. I really liked his music, but it rarely got any airplay. I'm glad to see him on the show "Nashville" now.
If it rarely got any airplay, that explains it. It has a very 1990s sound though. As a 90s kid, I can tell. Good song, shame that it wasn't a bigger hit.
Troy Young Very true. He was very underrated but most people don't realize this song was a top 5 hit for him. It landed at number 5 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart back in 1992.
First seen him when I was like 7 or 8 in a small town called Princeton WV dude is a hell of a singer wish the stations would’ve played more of him one of my favorite songs. Btw dudes a good actor to he’s the sheriff on Landman on paramount damn good show.
Loved dancing to this back in the day. Didn't know until today that he grew up with diabetes and has done a lot to raise awareness and donated to the same. A good guy!

2024 with this song
Collie is one of the most criminally underrated country singer-songwriters of the '90s. Mad respect.
In the movies , he always plays a criminal.

I talked to him the other day. I work with his niece.

2022 hope to see you in Sheffield Al soon. Love this song
It was an honor to have Mark Collie at the Clement Museum last year as our honoree for the 2023 LEGACY Award!
We travelled across country alot and this song was all over the damn radio. A 1982 Oldmobile. Life has been good.
“I wish this damned old Thunderbird could fly.” What a great lyric.
Agreed... came here to post the same thing
Classic!
But it can't. Ford Only Runs Downhill.
Was going to post the same thing !
I wish this damn old Thunderbird could fly !
I still listen to him in 2024 at the age of 64 what a great talent.
I took my sons to hear Mark in the early to mid 90's, when he put on a concert at our local fair. He stood and signed autographs for a very long time after his performance. What a great guy!
I meet Marty Stuart once at cracker barrel believe it or not I have his autograph he is a great guy very down to earth.
He seems like a great guy!! Wish I heard him awhile ago. ...

Yessir, a masterpiece. The ladies and gentlemen responsible for this fantastic art are severely underrated.
I had no idea my man Bruce Hornsby contributed to this song! Now that I listen I hear his influence. Makes me like it even more.
Amen brother! If the music alone does not give you chills down your back theres something wrong with you.
I haven’t heard this song in 15 years and it sounds like brooks and dunn completely ripped it off for “lost and and found. “. Is it me or is the majority of the song melody the same song with different lyrics?
@@randyscho Brooks & Dunn are highly overrated, in my opinion. They couldn't hold a candle to Mark Collie.
He's doing a good job in landman as well
Won tickets from a local radio station and took my mom who had never been to a concert. It was Vern Gosdin, Mark Collie and the Dogs!
Yes, I agree country and christian music does not sound the same any more. We need 1980's and 1990's country and christian music back badly.
One of those songs you forgot about. Rediscovery is the best thing ever.
Enjoying watching him on Landman!!
2025 and years I have left ! This song means something very special to me. Mark Collie deserves more recognition, he was great !
I've always been a fan of Mark's music and it's great to see him portraying a Texas Sheriff on Landman. It's a shame that he has never received the recognition that he deserves for his music and talent because he's really great.
How Mark never had a #1 boggles my mind.
I believe this song was Mark's only number one hit.
He was competing with the class of 89 who conquered the early 90s charts.
anyone listening to this in 1992? Come on fellow time travelers, hit me up!!
Mark Collie is about to be in the new show “LANDMAN” with Billy Bob Thornton. Sending vibes to everyone
When country music was actually country!!!!!
He's the sheriff in Landman!
What??? I gotta watch
Haven’t heard this one in ages. Takes me back to my youth. Simpler times for sure.
Flashback to a great time in country music where all the talent was hard to pick your favorite artist.
Mark was one of my favorites.
Landman brought me here. Glad to see Collie still doing well.
