I'm never forget the first day this song came on the radio!! I was in a Terragator fertilizer spreader loadin the ground with all the good stuff in a 3400 acre feild and I called my wife and told her I have to have this song!! To play over n over!! And low n Behold she went and bought me this Cd and brought it over 47 miles away from home bless her heart and she loaded up in the cab with me and we spread over 500 acres together just listening to this Cd! And having a sammich! Together ❤❤ I hope you had a fine mothers day today in heaven sweet darlin!! Long live Blackhawk!!!👍miss you baby! 15 years later!👍😉
1994!! Best Blackhawk song! I heard this song today, probably haven't heard it since it was out and on the radio in the 90s but I remembered every word. I was crazy about Blackhawk when I was in jr high in the 90s! I sent it to my mom today after I heard it because she loved it too when it was released. Not only is the music gorgeous but the song is so well written.
I was in my 30's for all the 90's and this era, by far, was my favorite for country music. Here it is June 2022 and I'm still listening. It's timeless, much like outlaw country that I love too. The harmonies were unbelievable in the 90's. Diamond Rio, Blackhawk, Little Texas....so many more.
I hear ya! This is a memory of playing NES with the sound off, while Mom listened to Black Hawk and cleaned the house. The only moment I got the TV. Cheers to that 25 years later.
After 14yrs of marriage this song hit home. I tried and done everything but After to many lies and so many times cheating. I had to let her go the last thing I wanted. God it hurts.
Maybe the best story of this song, is that the song writer, John Jarrard, was blind. That is what gives me chills about "I can't see the storm clouds...."
All the comments reminiscing are great but you guys know this band is still active right? They still tour & are playing tonight 6/16/22 in Wise Virginia. Start attending concerts & buying their music and maybe you’d hear them back on the radio.
“I can’t see a single storm cloud in the sky, but I sure can smell the rain.” That line hits so hard. Sometimes you can’t see something coming, but you still get that feeling.
Black Hawk has been a great group since day 1! In a relationship when the other person doesn't want to talk to you or just ignores you it makes you wonder why because you haven't done anything to them to make them act like this toward you but some people bring in problems that concerns other situations! May God continue to bless 🙏 you All and your families!!!
Oh yeah. The 90's were a golden time for a lot of us. SO many great bands on tour, and I saw as many of em as possible! Plus, the music scene in the bars was hoppin like mad, too.
I remember driving around the back dirt roads of Hidalgo county Texas in high school jamming this song thinking about what my future would hold. This song shaped my young mind.
She still says I love you if I ask her, but she never volunteers. This line is so heartbreaking. It sucks to be in relationship that is neither good or bad.
@@senseijuan3230 true...its difficult overall. So far, ive been riding it out and it has its ups and downs. Nothing to tell me i should walk but yet sometimes i have felt a little neglected because the relationship has gotten stale in some aspects...like i feel like its goin no where but not goin backwards either.
So she should win Oscar if she's lying when she says that nothing has changed... everyday I brace myself to hear the words I'm scared she's going to say and every night I think the Lord somehow I dodged the bullet one more day... Song is just absolutely lyrical treasure... is so simple and yet so profound... I could keep writing every line from the song ...it's just absolutely incredible.. think this song and let it wherl... postmarked Birmingham... I better stop now lol
I miss the 80s and 90s country music that was the best time for country music it had meaning behind the song I LOVE blackhawk they are a very good group
Love the slow meandering wrap up on this song. When they play it live, it's almost jam band status the way the instrumental just rolls on till the end. Except unlike jam band, it sounds great. 🇺🇸
Us Pacific northwesterners start thinking about this song's title come the tail end of the year. I also find it weird knowing that Henry Paul is in his forties in this video, but he looks like he's in his twenties.
I can't see a single storm cloud in the sky but I sure can smell the rain...that is how I feel at this moment in time in my journey in life. People have created it for no reason at all. Sometimes it is ok to smell the rain at times but not when people walk away from you and have created the biggest mess for you to clean up ! And it really was not yours to clean up in the first place! It does not matter it is still one of my favorite songs.
I get what you mean about people making up problems that aren't even real. We can only go by what people do and not just what they say. They can try to paint a sunny picture about themselves when inside of them it is thunder and lightning waiting to strike. They can't hide the smell of the rain when actions speak louder than words.
I was fortunate to be in a cover band in the 90's and the music was absolutely the best from these guys to all the other artists we covered. We still gig and still play our 90's music cause we feel there are still people that miss hearing the songs😎
Oh my gosh! He was wearing a black. ..my hubby called them wife beaters, I hate that term....but that just brought me waaay back! My hubby used to wear them all the time! That was his shirt! And he looked really good in them just like this guy on the end! 😭😭😭 miss you John Laidley! 😭😭😭
Love the use of the snare to produce the F# tone mixed in with the mandolin to give the chords a little added tension to set the mood. Play an E major chord and add an F#. It’s like a 9th chord without actually playing a 9th chord. Of course, the F# is mixed with the other chord progressions as well, but doesn’t have the same effect as it does on the one. Given that it’s a slower half time groove, it really has time to linger and set the mood. Tip o’ the hat to the producer for that gem. I was a huge Blackhawk fan in the 90’s. Great band to warm up the vocals on when you’re on your way to a gig.
first time ive heard this song i was about 16 years old... fell right down in love with it right then and there... couldnt hear it enough!! couldnt wait for the radio station to play it again... that was 1994... before we had a computer and internet wasnt anything like it is today.. so had to resort to what we had....
Always someone with a dead loved one in these comments. Shit is a buzz kill. This song reminds me of the 90s when life was simple. All good memories from 90s country.

I should have seen it coming but I even missed the clouds gathering. Funny I can admit it now my memory of her is really distant. Spent 14 years with her and it is as though we had never met.
Who’s listening in 2024??? Such a great classic!

RIP Van Stephenson. The man killing the guitar. Well done.

Real talk. An unmatched harmony
Yeah I love hearing these songs I am 53 years old
Still one of the most unique voices in country music. Guys, please come back and bring 90s country music with you!
Van Stephenson died years ago.
Never gonna happen! All we can do now is this!
Was a teenager during the 90’s. When country music was great. Blackhawk is Still one of my favorite bands to listen to.
I fell in love with my husband listening to this song. He’s gone sadly and I miss him everyday but this song lives rent free in my head forever
90’s had the greatest country music ever
I'm a heavy metal head, pure from birth. But I will turn Blackhawk up to 11 when I hear them. I Love this band! Honestly, I love all 90's country.
KC Jacobs Haha 11! That made me laugh. Good one. Take care, guy. 🍻 Cheers to you.
"Big Guitar" sounds good at 30 decibels!
A lot of heavy metal musicians are country/southern rock fans. Dimebag, Zakk, James Hetfield, etc.
Love this! Blackhawk and 90s country were the best!
Same!
One of the greatest country music bands from the 90's there music will live on forever!

Even if you don't like country music, this is excellent songwriting, arrangement and vocal harmonies. This song has aged well.
90s country is like that. Songs of the human experience that you can enjoy no matter where you are in life.
I am here in 2022 and Still loving BlackHawk hoping more peeps are with me

Damn I forgot just how good my childhood was with Blackhawk
90s country was the greatest idgaf what people say this shit was and is great. I for one don't even like country music anymore

I don't like normally like Country Music, but I seem to like a bunch of songs by BlackHawk

Blackhawk for life

I miss chill country like this.
Wish these boys were still relevant, they were awesome
There are no truer feelings in a new relationship than the ones in this song
That slide guitar though...it touches the soul
Tip of the cap to Duane with the Coricidin bottle...
These songs still slap.
Who they slapping?

I've seen them four times and the last time was just last year. They are still up there with the old greats!!! Don't have to be mean.
I was lucky to have seen them! Got to speak to them in a restaurant afterwards. Lead singer kissed my daughter on her forehead. Great people…🥰
2019 and this is still a bad ass song by a bad ass group..beats any current crap
Childhood memories. I remember when this came out. We played the cassette to and from a camping trip. I will always love this band.
I just saw these guys last night in Nashville. Blew me away. They've still got it. Great show with The Outlaws.

Hello Jeannette 👋
Best times of my life..1984-1998.... Beautifil timeless music...after this period i slowed down...glad i can listen to my youth...
I wish some one would invent a time machine, I want to go back.
Looking back the 90s were great. No COVID, no riots and I had no real responsibility.
Oh yeah. The 90's were a golden time for a lot of us. SO many great bands on tour, and I saw as many of em as possible! Plus, the music scene in the bars was hoppin like mad, too.
True that times were so much simpler
@@Mikeinreallife92 The 1992 riots were brutal. In 5 days 63 people were killed compared to 25 dead from 2020 riots.

When I watched them in concert they practically sounded the same as they do here. They were amazing and I loved getting to meet and greet them.

Not really much to say but awesome! Blackhawk was One of the ninety's greats!! I'm in my 60s and I've heard all the greats and they are up there!!!
Blackhawk had a great sound and still do today. I had a chance to see them in New Braunfels 2 years ago and it was awesome

Closest I'll get to a family reunion lol. Lookin good there Dave
She hasn't done a thing
That really has to mean she's going anywhere
I haven't seen it showing in her eyes
But I swear it must be there
I don't know why I feel it so strong
But I feel it just the same
I can't see a single storm cloud in the sky
But I sure can smell the rain
She'd still say 'I love you' if I ask
But she never volunteers
Somehow what she never says
Means more than all the other words I hear
Still she should win an Oscar
If she's lying when she says that nothing's changed
I can't see a single storm cloud in the sky
But I sure can smell the rain
Every day I brace myself
To hear the words I'm scared she's gonna say
And every night I thank the Lord
Somehow I dodged a bullet one more day
Sometimes there are things a man just knows
That he really can't explain
I can't see a single storm cloud in the sky
But I sure can smell the rain
I can't see a single storm cloud in the sky
But I sure can smell the rain
I should have seen it coming but I even missed the clouds gathering. Funny I can admit it now my memory of her is really distant. Spent 14 years with her and it is as though we had never met.
