You forgot to mention an important "detail"! You have to put the little black rubber plug, which is in the box, to the opposite ear up that's plugged the cable, which means getting the right sound. Feels like you're talking bout other headphones. (Z Reviews / The Honest Audiophile.... give very exact description of how they sound). Peace!
ONE BIG PROBLEM THEY NEED TO FIX IMMEDIATELY , the size locking mechanism is plastic , and plastic lock on metal is never good, is a 70% failure critical part, they should really fix it with either full metal , or metal with plastic over-mold , cause that is the one point, that keeps me from buying these right now, and I am glad I saw it before the order placement, but sad that I need to wait for them to fix the problem and release a recall and change the NTH-100 to NTH-101 so people know that they should give the headphones back to rode for replacing, and if they add double thickness padding and easier to replace pads on the NTH-101 , I would not oppose for them to rise the price to 170€-200€. because they are worth at least that much with the fix.
They (RODE) actually offer a life time warranty for the locking system, they replace that part for you to life, maybe one day they will make an updated locking and upgrade it to that.
well, that is an option but they clearly promote them as neutral headphones but they are not really ... also I don't need Sonarworks for the 900 Pro X and IMO Sonarworks opens up a few more issues overall ;) but still, it is a solid solution
Great review. Immediately after putting my NTH 100 over my ears, I ended up gravitating to loving the overall feel instead of the audio quality. Honestly, the sound was not all that good. Sad I can't use them for mixing.
Sad to say, but, a crack already started to appear on the „problem part” of my Rode NTH-100 headphones, and I will soon have to send the headphones in warranty already, I hope in the future Rode could reinforce this locking mechanism casing.
I think they are good for spoken word but that's it. I bought one set of cans for me and one for my son. They both broke on me, but shout out to Rode for replacing them.
I agree that the rode are not good for mixing, I am going back to my beyerdynamic 770, or sennheiser HD 215, the rode headphones are overrated, absolute waste of money for me.
well compared to other headphones, it is quite noticeable, Don't get me wrong, those Rode headphones are solid and usable but I'm not the only one that thinks it has some odd Frequency issues that could be tricky for mixing. ;)
@@MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl - Thanks. Didn't expect the change, but appreciate it. On your opinion, noted. I need headphones for editing speaking-only UA-cam videos, and comfort is my first priority, including wanting ones that don't get hot after wearing for a while. I also need wired in-ear (or even bone conduction) monitors for speaking on video that don't get in the way and that are minimally visible.. Any suggestions?

I agree, your sound quality comments are spot on. Luckily I got the rode headphones for podcast editing on the road, not mixing

I use these in conjunction with Sonarworks Sound ID Reference, which provides a very useful corrective equalization.

Are the 900 pro x better for monitoring voiceovers? I'm wondering if I would be making a mistake going for the cheaper tyger 300r
yep they are good but you also might look into the 700 Pro X closed back if sound bleed is a concern

Thank you for your review! Could we counter it with a counter-balance EQ curve? I use such EQ counterbalancing for my m50x and m20xBT.

Headphones officially fully failed yesterday, today I sent the warranty return to where I bought them from.
thats bad ... mine are basically only in our Podcast kit ... use them "on the road" ... not a daily driver at all
Where in the freak does the cable go can anyone be clear what side connects to headphones and what side connects to MacBooks or whatever
The cable works on both sides!

Take the felt pieces out, and it's another headphone.
Very weird assessment...

Title does not match the video. 🫤
fixed it .... but still i think ppl should not get those headphones ... ;)
