    *Correction:* 2 Things I need to correct/clarify in the video. It looks like you can no longer dig below the center part of a fortress. You can however use a battering ram to destroy the lower part of it and it will still float. The other thing is apparently I was unclear with my words about resistance and gave people the idea that there were none, at least for the charred. As many people have pointed out on the comments the charred are resistant to pierece. I apologize for not speaking more clearly and causing some confusion.

      Yes, you still can but you need to dig though the wall. My black metal pickaxe able to destroy some part of the inner wall( but not every part tho). Not sure dev will change this later.

      The Charred are also weak to spirit damage as they are undead. They seem slightly weak to blunt I guess since they are skeletons. And I get the full damage of the Frost and Spirit damage when using Frostner against them.

    Using the dodge roll at the correct time makes you avoid taking damage from the fire blobs. Pretty useful actually if you're getting swarmed as it will damage everything else.

    I'm hyping myself back up to give the ashlands another shot. I just rage quit because I spent 40 minutes getting to the ashlands only to find all the beaches were swarming with enemies, so I spent another 30 minutes traversing the rocks trying to find a good place to set up a quick base, then I found a structure in the water I was going to use as fob until I fell in the water, got stuck and burnt to death

      I set up a portal with some walls on the beach, im still stuck on that beach because of the huge amounts of enemy spawns.

    • @AegisAuras
      @AegisAuras 7 місяців тому +4

      Yeah we couldn’t get a foothold on land from the boat either. The enemies just infinitely spawn even if you’re staying in one area; they’ll just keeping walking in from around you. It was too hard to build with that happening.
      We ended up finding a series of pillars in the ocean that were close to land, docking the boat at the back of them, climbing them, and building an outpost on them. The pillars count as ground for structural stability’s sake.
      After we set up a shield generator I made a path down to the shore using stone pieces (I brought a stonecutter) and then wood. Once I got to the shore I raised ground using the hoe from the beach so we had an area we could run across and jump onto the platforms from. Enemies can’t jump across the gap.
      I noticed sometimes enemies would walk across the seafloor and up the pillars so I raised ground at the back of the pillars until it was steep enough that they couldn’t.

    Charred are resistant to pierce damage, theyre damage numbers when hit with pierce weapons are grey'd out rather than yellow or white like frost on vultures and lightning on morgens

  • @gunzorzz
    @gunzorzz 7 місяців тому +3

    - Charred does not seem to be weak to anything, possibly spirit dmg but Frostner dosnt hold up anymore unfortunately. But i found the Mistwalker sword is absolutely a banger VS any Charred. You can even keep the pesky warrior as a sweet spot where u can hit with both light and heavy attack without them be able to attack back.
    - Fortresses can be build on side to enter them without a battering Ram (alltho i recommend using one cuse its just too awsome) And the middle room inside u can dig underneath to access the inside and final loot.
    - If you have decent block and a sword (once again i recommend the Mistwalker sword) you can make quick work of the Morgens, do the perfect parry and quickly into the heavy attack will kill it in around 5-6. U do need ashlands food cus it will take a good amount of stamina.
    - Bonemass buff has save me time and time again in Ashlands as MOST enemies deals physical damage and you can litterly just stand there and tank all the damage with the buff up. (I run the light armor. Asksvin)
    - The green upgrade for weapons that gives a chance to root enemies does NOT work on flying enemies such as the Fallen Valkyrie, works wonders on any land enemy tho as i have a Root Ripper that i love.
    - If you run the dual axes, always have a secondary melee weapon on hand, they break FAST. Sure they deal insane damage but they do have one of the lowest durabilities i have seen.
    - The Ashwood spike wall are cheap and extremely effective defensive structure if you do not have or want to set up a base in a cleared Fortress. The cost is 6x ashwood and will snap to foundations, walls, pillars etc.
    - I would recommend crafting both Ashlands capes and always carry both of them as one is great for combat and the Asksvin cape just gets you from A to B to much quicker and you can easily outrun any enemy even running 90* to the wind and only recieve half the speed buff. I would also recommend having feathercape on you in case u will need to fall from a height or do some lava hopping for Flametal farm(If u do hit the lava aint no gear or potions that will save you anyway, so why not fall slower and jump higher)
    - The Ashlands caves will always spawn one Morgen when u have looted and head torwards the exit/entrance again. It's not a random spawn and it always spawns near the exit.
    - Fallen valkyries are easily defeated with a crossbow. If you get a hit in before they detect you, you can delete half or 1/3 of their bar in that one shot.
    - Ashland storm is not really that dangerous and u can still be outside of a shield bubble. It's kinda like the mountain Blizzard, it just reduces visibility.

    Played Ashland with my friend. Our experience is that magic is completly busted over there, while melee is pain and suffering, even with the best items and food. Magic deffinatly needs a solid nerf, the boss needs to be patched to react to certain magic and the normal enemies need to have their damage lowered a little and spawn rated reduced drasticly lol! It felt like they were hyperspawning constantly.

  • @WanderAbroad-pq5ph
    @WanderAbroad-pq5ph 7 місяців тому +8

    In my opinion the shield generator is a throw away.
    1. It's field is so in your face that at times it's hard to see
    2. It's so apparent it's an eyesore - they should have made it very translucent till barely noticeable unless struck and then have glow or something.
    3. Return on investment is incredibly lame - enemies can walk right through and if you tick off one of the big guys that jump smashes or fire blobs they walk in and simply do mass damage.
    The materials for building it and the constant bone feed make it annoying. At least put the bones on a timer and they count down like a torch but using bones for every strike? A joke.
    They insist they don't want a tower defense game but include tower defense concepts and in order to balance them they are gimped or impractical to the point of nullifying
    their necessity. Take their turrets that shoot both enemies and you. They break their own rules when Ashland castles have turrets that only target you but nobody else.

    • @WanderAbroad-pq5ph
      @WanderAbroad-pq5ph 7 місяців тому +2

      @@datzfatz2368 can you turn off friendly fire? If you can't then it doesn't follow their game rules. "because" is a great excuse for Tod Howard but a game needs to abide its own rules. If a turret on an enemy fortress can target only enemies then player turrets shouldn't suddenly lose the ability "because" Because at that point it starts to unravel. The turret doesn't need to manned but fires all by itself. So if it's smart enough to pick out targets, smart enough to fire itself, smart enough to target only enemies UNLESS it belongs to the player is bad planning on the devs part. Feel free to white knight for them since "or are you just mad" brings nothing to the table.

    • @WanderAbroad-pq5ph
      @WanderAbroad-pq5ph 7 місяців тому +1

      @@EruRoraitoX It's the concept of they want their cake and eat it too. They don't want you to have solid defenses on your structure but they want turret defenses. Well then it's useless or doesn't belong in the game.
      The way I look at it is simple. Getting black metal isn't that hard but it certainly takes work to keep a turret loaded. Several turrets will take a great deal of work but it would be nice to deal with basic annoying adds. You just want to lay down and go to sleep but there's always that one add that wants to show up and keep you from sleeping till you wander your fortress and find where the enemy is. They are no longer a threat nor do they add anything. Now they are in essence just trolling you.
      Or the plains. I just want to farm or wander my castle without the ceaseless deathsquitoes that at that point just harass the player. Turrets add to quality of life if they just worked better. The devs purposefully make it target players and it's ridiculous. Take em out or make em useful.

    Is wood to coal really that big of an advantage? This just seems like a quality of life upgrade or a consolation prize when your structure burns down...
    Is it because of early game stuff? I already don't use a kiln thanks to surtling spawners. I guess it would save me from having to destroy rebuild kiln/smelter if I only had one surtling core.
    Is it because you always build a grey dwarf farm and have more wood than you know what to do with?
    Is it because you can set wood structures on fire to damage bosses - like the speed run campfire strategy?
    What am I missing/forgetting that would make this broken enough to need a patch?

    If you try to build a ramp up to the wall, the Charred Warlocks just dump a poison/fire bomb on top of you while the Archers pick you off. Yes, if everyone is on the ground inside and you have all the time in the world to nuke them from a distance, yes, Fortresses can be built into "relatively easily", but you have to clear the walls. But then, everyone on the walls will just jump down and kill you on the ground. So, yeah, -if- you can get on the walls solo, -and- you can clear them without dying, then yes, you can build a ladder to kill off everything inside.

    i've taken over a fortress and it seems like it isn't indestructible the charred twitchers and morgen are hitting the walls every so often and there are damage numbers popping up mixed in with the too hard and one of the doorways seems to be missing chunks on the outside theres actaully a small gap i can see through to the outside now after about a day of twitchers throwing rocks at the wall. it looks like they are slowly chipping away at the wall.

      All dungeons you can build campfires in to reset your rested buff.
      Stop sprinting 24/7, put your weapons away while you run, and space out your attacks while properly moving back and forth to get into attack range then out of enemy attack range.
