      I played this game when it was released. It was an incredibly ambitious game at a time when games were getting stale. Yes it doesn't hold up at all but it at least attempted to push the boundaries of what was possible in a narrative based 'adventure' type game.
      I enjoyed it immensely when I played Omikron all those years ago even though it had so much jank. Just for its weirdness but theres no way I'd enjoy it now. Sometimes you just can't go home again.

    One month ago, Woolie was entirely unaware of what he was bringing into this world, when he set John: The Final Gamer the task of playing Omikron: The Nomad's Soul. He had no way of knowing, how dark the path that he had sent his best friend down was.
    The world to which Omikron had sent John was a harsh one, one with rules that made no sense to a mortal man, a world of endless torment and punishment, The Final Gamer was pushed to his breaking point.
    In his lowest moment, the man known as John, felt three distinct emotions: Sadness, stemming from the disappointment he felt, knowing this suffering was wished upon him, by his best friend. The second emotion was hatred, towards the world of Omikron and its creators, and Woolie, the best friend that he now believed the actions of to be those of violence. Finally, there was rage, an overspill of anger and confusion, directed to anyone that would listen to his unintelligible cries of helplessness and despair.
    As the darkness encircled, threatening to consume him, The Final Gamer reached deep inside himself in order to bring forth the wolf inside, he could activate Final Gamer Mode, but would it be enough? No. He must go one step further beyond. He howled, as only a wolf could, howling to the moon, to Selene, the personification of the moon itself. He waited patiently for Selene’s divine judgment, which soon came crashing through the heavens, piercing the darkness that surrounded him, and then, it happened.
    Just as Selene commanded the phases of the moon, The Final Gamer, for the first time, saw the individual pieces of the nonsensical world of Omikron, and began to manipulate it, bending it to his will, meeting all challenges presented to him, and surpassing them. After all the trouble and strife, The Final Gamer reached enlightenment, and conquered the world of Omikron. However, it had cost him the last of his humanity.
    Shenmue 3, Shadow The Hedgehog, no amount of video game jank could compare to what he had just experienced. Thanks to this new power, bestowed upon him by the Goddess herself, there was no game in existence, be it critically praised AAA title, or a two decade old jank fest, that could possibly stop him, The Final Gamer, now.
    Later that week, Woolie would meet with John for the first time since he set him this impossible task, but the man he saw was not his friend as he remembered him. As John recounted his ordeal, his eyes seemed to stare, without seeing. It was as though all worlds, both real and virtual, no longer required his sight for him to understand. As Woolie tried to rationalise both his and John’s actions, he realised the man before him was not human, but something new. This new form that John: The Final Gamer had adopted, would bring untold devastation, in the years to come. This new form would come to be known as:
    [JANK LORD: ECLIPSE]

    Like Omikron itself, I don't know how this episode managed to keep topping itself. The reveal of the metaphorical loaded gun was the most insane thing in an episode loaded with wild swerves.
    Shout-out to John and Woolie joking about John being unable to script these podcast episodes like his videos, then later discussing John taking a prank lie too far, and then John wording his Omikron statements to imply he jumped off at certain points. Writer-man wins in the end. The crescendo was glorious, and while I'm glad we're back to happy recommendations, I'm not sure if this podcast can ever top what happened in these initial episodes.

    John calls it a loaded gun on the table, but it's dangerous to call shots with the Combo Breaker system. All Woolie has to do, is take the first napkin, and he will be the one in control of destiny...

    • @jaideay3003
      @jaideay3003 10 місяців тому +12

      This is easily anticipated. John can simply beat the game again in his spare time and record it and then instead of asking Woolie to “beat Omikron” he can ask him to “beat omikron AGAIN” a recommendation can be anything so long as it is unique. To delve into a hell you have already conquered is unique to the first experience. There could even be some fucked up variant to make it worse.

      This preempts the counter breaker and if Woolie doesn’t complete the game on his own in secret… then John may simply say “oh no, I HAD to play it again because I will admit your original cooperative play through has some merit. I had to completely devalue it”

You get 3(?) combo breaks total, and afaik there is currently no consequence for being combo broken three times so far because they are just making this up as they go.
      So yes, Woolie immediately resorted to the highest level of recommendation violence in episode 2 to avoid being combo broken and experiencing a consequence that doesn't exist.
