This is easily anticipated. John can simply beat the game again in his spare time and record it and then instead of asking Woolie to “beat Omikron” he can ask him to “beat omikron AGAIN” a recommendation can be anything so long as it is unique. To delve into a hell you have already conquered is unique to the first experience. There could even be some fucked up variant to make it worse.
This preempts the counter breaker and if Woolie doesn’t complete the game on his own in secret… then John may simply say “oh no, I HAD to play it again because I will admit your original cooperative play through has some merit. I had to completely devalue it”

You get 3(?) combo breaks total, and afaik there is currently no consequence for being combo broken three times so far because they are just making this up as they go. So yes, Woolie immediately resorted to the highest level of recommendation violence in episode 2 to avoid being combo broken and experiencing a consequence that doesn't exist.
I felt immense dread when Woolie said "webcomic" because I thought hed say homestuck. I let out a primal yell of pure hype when he dropped Kill Six Billion Demons.
...to be fair Homestuck is not that bad. No really, the main reason people started to hate it was due to the community around it. The comic itself at least for most of it's existence, like more than 50%, was a fun read. I mean yeah there is a drop-off.....no there is no but it was a mess. If anything I would love to see John dig though a dead webcomic, a time capsule of a certain time period the internet passed though and left behind. I mean most people would just harp on the memes, John may actually find something profound even in Homestuck.

Like Omikron itself, I don't know how this episode managed to keep topping itself. The reveal of the metaphorical loaded gun was the most insane thing in an episode loaded with wild swerves. Shout-out to John and Woolie joking about John being unable to script these podcast episodes like his videos, then later discussing John taking a prank lie too far, and then John wording his Omikron statements to imply he jumped off at certain points. Writer-man wins in the end. The crescendo was glorious, and while I'm glad we're back to happy recommendations, I'm not sure if this podcast can ever top what happened in these initial episodes.

I've realized something about John that I really like: His face isn't very expressive, but his voice sure is. So in many instances, he's yelling or raging, and is almost stonefacing. It takes some _real_ fucking punishment to get him to emote with his face.
I just have this deep feeling that John is going to give Woolie, just a few nice months. You know, let him just kinda enjoy his time. Like, if you ever got a call from your parents where they were like, "Hey what time are you going to be home?" And you say, "Oh, well maybe like 8. Why?" i cannot believe woolie is STILL trying to excuse himself for the meshkan door situation. the guide literally said to use the screwdriver because it's locked, and matt spent so much time going around looking at locked doors, waiting for the game to tell him where meshtar is because woolie refused to read the very next sentence.
I don't think that the anime watchers will understand the depth of John's heroics, so please, allow me to illuminate. John intentionally showed weakness, not because he inherently is weak, but because he understood that it had the potential to teach Woolie a lesson as they entered Recommend or Die last month. And Woolie the Yielding, in spite of winning neutral, could not land a single blow in close-quarters, so he cheated. He pulled out a gun and fired directly at John, with a bullet from a prior Cage version known for its horrible data. This was meant to debilitate John, not out of malice, but out of fear, trying to cut the legs out from underneath someone before they can reach their potential. And John took the bullet. He carried it in his inventory - in his very BODY - for two weeks, undaunted, and made the item his own. But this bullet was filled with hatred, and John, hero that he was, tricked the game into thinking that the bullet was filled with love, because the game labels the bullets the same they just have different colors for some reason. He loaded it into his own gun, showed Woolie the gun, and when fear overtook him... instead of shooting, once again, John decided to teach. Never one has he compromised on his morals, an absolute inspiration of an arc that I fear will get lost as people only remember the 9th bomb scream as the defining moment of the Earthikron Arc. Earthbound's ok too I guess. I like Tomas Jefferson.

John calls it a loaded gun on the table, but it's dangerous to call shots with the Combo Breaker system. All Woolie has to do, is take the first napkin, and he will be the one in control of destiny...
This is easily anticipated. John can simply beat the game again in his spare time and record it and then instead of asking Woolie to “beat Omikron” he can ask him to “beat omikron AGAIN” a recommendation can be anything so long as it is unique. To delve into a hell you have already conquered is unique to the first experience. There could even be some fucked up variant to make it worse.
This preempts the counter breaker and if Woolie doesn’t complete the game on his own in secret… then John may simply say “oh no, I HAD to play it again because I will admit your original cooperative play through has some merit. I had to completely devalue it”

How does the Combo Breaker work, exactly?
@@samt3412Combo Breaker just means that the thing being recommended is something the recommendee has already watched/read/played. You get 3(?) combo breaks total, and afaik there is currently no consequence for being combo broken three times so far because they are just making this up as they go.
So yes, Woolie immediately resorted to the highest level of recommendation violence in episode 2 to avoid being combo broken and experiencing a consequence that doesn't exist.

That was the most MENACING encounter I've ever seen. Woolie felt the go-go-go-go SFX in his veins.
I felt immense dread when Woolie said "webcomic" because I thought hed say homestuck.

...to be fair Homestuck is not that bad. No really, the main reason people started to hate it was due to the community around it.
The comic itself at least for most of it's existence, like more than 50%, was a fun read. I mean yeah there is a drop-off.....no there is no but it was a mess.
If anything I would love to see John dig though a dead webcomic, a time capsule of a certain time period the internet passed though and left behind. I mean most people would just harp on the memes, John may actually find something profound even in Homestuck.

Like Omikron itself, I don't know how this episode managed to keep topping itself. The reveal of the metaphorical loaded gun was the most insane thing in an episode loaded with wild swerves.
Shout-out to John and Woolie joking about John being unable to script these podcast episodes like his videos, then later discussing John taking a prank lie too far, and then John wording his Omikron statements to imply he jumped off at certain points. Writer-man wins in the end. The crescendo was glorious, and while I'm glad we're back to happy recommendations, I'm not sure if this podcast can ever top what happened in these initial episodes.

From 1:41:00 to 2:37:00 is John slowly revealing that he is the Jon Wick of gaming and journalism. He wasn't locked into an LP. He wasn't forced to do it for some reward. He is simply a man of means and a man of conviction.
I've realized something about John that I really like: His face isn't very expressive, but his voice sure is. So in many instances, he's yelling or raging, and is almost stonefacing. It takes some _real_ fucking punishment to get him to emote with his face.
I just have this deep feeling that John is going to give Woolie, just a few nice months. You know, let him just kinda enjoy his time. Like, if you ever got a call from your parents where they were like, "Hey what time are you going to be home?" And you say, "Oh, well maybe like 8. Why?" And their response is, "Oh no reason...no reason at all. Hey, enjoy it."
Just letting Woolie have a little bit of enjoyment before the most vile shit John can muster.

I don't think that the anime watchers will understand the depth of John's heroics, so please, allow me to illuminate. John intentionally showed weakness, not because he inherently is weak, but because he understood that it had the potential to teach Woolie a lesson as they entered Recommend or Die last month. And Woolie the Yielding, in spite of winning neutral, could not land a single blow in close-quarters, so he cheated. He pulled out a gun and fired directly at John, with a bullet from a prior Cage version known for its horrible data. This was meant to debilitate John, not out of malice, but out of fear, trying to cut the legs out from underneath someone before they can reach their potential. And John took the bullet. He carried it in his inventory - in his very BODY - for two weeks, undaunted, and made the item his own. But this bullet was filled with hatred, and John, hero that he was, tricked the game into thinking that the bullet was filled with love, because the game labels the bullets the same they just have different colors for some reason. He loaded it into his own gun, showed Woolie the gun, and when fear overtook him... instead of shooting, once again, John decided to teach. Never one has he compromised on his morals, an absolute inspiration of an arc that I fear will get lost as people only remember the 9th bomb scream as the defining moment of the Earthikron Arc.
