Fatal Frame, especially the original trilogy, is a series of masterfully crafted, groundbreaking Japanese survival horror titles. In this video, we're uncovering how the original Fatal Frame pushed the still fresh genre into a completely new direction with its unique blend of folklore, J-Horror and a gameplay-design that goes hand in hand with the game's message; and turns the players into active participants in Japan's folklore.

This game is 20 years old now? Jeez, I still remember staying up till 2 am on school nights playing this in my room with no lights on except the glow of my crt TV.
The way to do it
I remember my best friend rented the game from Blockbuster back in the day, he said he got so scared he took it back the next day because he couldn't play it. I didn't believe him, so he re rented it and spent the night at my place. Holy fucking shit I had nightmares about Blinded for 2 weeks straight. Her moaning "MY EYES, MY EYES" I couldn't handle that shit. Ill never forget the fear this game put me through. And I love it for that.
Also on the other end of the spectrum, every time the little boy ghost ran past us somewhere, we could never catch him because he was so fast. We lovingly named him LMF, "Little Motha Fucker"
Omfg I love your name for the kid. That's awesome lmao
This game made me wake up in the middle of the night, sweating, and scared shitless.
My brother had a similar experience when he rented it from Blockbuster back in the day! He was playing by himself in a dark room, and next thing we know he comes SPRINTING into the kitchen. He had just watched the cutscene where the Bound Man jumpscares Mafuyu in the intro chapter lmao
Your experience reminds me of when i was 12 playing mgs 3 and you get to the sorrow and have to face all the enemies you killed in the game very spooky stuff man definitely made me think as a kid even though its just a game.
Oof you also got scared by the Blind girl as well trust me I literally jumped and paused whenever that ghost shows up in my face and yes her moaning about her eyes yeah very terrifying
I'm so happy people are still examining and talking about my favorite horror games and WHY I love them so much. the folklore
I really disliked this game. It's very hard to understand how you could love it that much.
I love that you play in the same house each chapter and all. The story is pretty good too. But the combat are so frustrating. Maybe it's because i'm bad at them. But i couldn't go further. Just dying over and over again. I hope the second game have easier combat for players like me.

I'd love to see you do a video on Detention. It scared the living daylights out of me but it's soaked in Taiwanese history and folklore
Ah yes i like that game though for me it's not really like Fatal Frame. But it's a good game regardless for me.
It's more history than folklore. Well that is what i see in Detention. I like it more than Devotion tbh. Also Detention being more historical than folklore is because it is set in the 1960s in Taiwan during it's martial law era or White Terror that lasted until the 80s. Back then it was the longest imposed martial law but now it is surpassed.
Then do their other game called Devotion. Very interesting. I love it
Yes! Detention is more on Taiwanese history, while Devotion is more of a psychological horror with a tang of folk religion. Both of them share the same theme though-how the tangible terrors in real life compel people to commit terrors of their own. They created their own ghosts.
In my restless dreams, I see that game... Fatal Frame. You promised you'd talk about it on your channel... but you never did...
Until Now...
*Japanese Ghost Noises*
That's a quality comment and I expect to see it rise to the top. Have your like, good sir.
@@Mantosasto Many a Thanks, Good Sir!
@@silenthero2795 I know, the second one. It was a good use of it.
Don’t jump scare me like that!
Ahahah.........
I can still hear the creepy voice saying "the ropes. There are more ropes now".
Yes.
The return of MotW with Fatal Frame is such a treat.
After going back memory lane with this video, I'm quite surprised Fatal Frame didn't have a VR game. Seems like the whole camera gameplay would fit that platform like a glove.
If I recall correctly it had an augmented reality game on some handheld console I can't remember off the top of my head, 3DS I think? You held the thing like you would a camera. It wasn't that great as a game though.
@@monitaroy7462 yeah, the last game of the trilogy came out on the DS
Admittedly Fatal Frame V was also sort of augmented reality since it took advantage of what the WiiU's pad can do but wasn't entirely. Pretty good game apart from the twist in the story.
I still remember replaying the original trilogy as my gaming goal before I went to study in Japan, as I already loved it, but when taking there a Japanese culture class and realizing that plenty of things in the games that I thought were created for their specific themes or the "spooky factor" were actually based on religion and myths made me appreciate them even more.
It's definitely an underappreciated series that should be re-released in some form, so gamers that weren't able to play them the first time could do it now (and I wouldn't complain if there were a remake of the first one, which was more of a proof of concept for the series, with the second being the codifier for the gameplay/interface/etc.).

Omg yes I do hope I gets rereleased since Maiden of Blackwater is getting a rereleased and I do hope Fatal Frame 1-3 and maybe 4 would come back since it’s easily one of my favorite Horror Game franchise that and maybe Siren 1- and Forbidden Siren 2 and also yes I’m also fascinated in Japanese Culture as well 😁
Fatal Frame is my all-time favorite horror game that I came across many years ago. And since I live in Russia, it's even more so rare to meet a person who knows anything about it. Seeing videos discussing this masterpiece is incredibly heartwarming. Thank you.
I still remember when me and my friends started playing Project Zero 3 after finding it at a garage sale, not expecting much, and 3 hours later we were hooked for life and knew we HAD to find the first ones... Watching this really made me miss the feeling of sitting in a circle of friends, one with the controller, all scared together, combining our brainpower to solve the riddles. That's how I got to experience all of Silent Hill and Project Zero which I otherwise would be unable to play because I freak out as soon as I start playing.... some of the best memories with my old friends. Crimson Butterfly especially, I remember playing that until we knew the game inside out. And the first one hit differently altogether, the high difficulty and the intensity of the black and white graphics made it such a visceral experience. And all of them made me feel sad as hell at some points, the storytelling really was top notch. Thanks for doing a video on this absolute gem!
I remember being sick in the hospital and my dad bought this game for me. Fatal Frame is my favorite horror game of all time, and I'm glad you talk about it.
One of my favourite action horror games was Kuon for the PS2. No one I know of in real life has ever played it and that saddens me. It is especially close to my heart because it is through Kuon that I learned of Project Zero. Thanks again my dude, for bringing me back to a simpler, more scary time.
TheBloodswordsman I found Kuon one day at a mom and pop game store for super cheap without a proper case. I’ve since found a case/booklet for it and I also couldn’t find anyone else who had played it. Now it’s going for a lot of money online
Yes, Kuon was awesome, one of my all time favourites, wish we had more similar games out now days.
The most frightening moment I remember was going down the tall mirror hall and having Blinded run down the stairs in front of me.
I mean, it's a game and one expects enemies, but Fatal Frame was very good at placing ghosts in ways that made your stomach drop. Like the ghost of Koji the appears right behind you after you exit a room.
YES! FINALLY SOMEONE ACKNOWLEDGING THIS MASTERPIECE
I love the fact that the Camera Obscura is your weapon in the game. Especially when you take into account the myth of cameras capturing humans souls. People used to be afraid of cameras because they thought that if your picture was taken, a part of your soul would be taken as well. So, using that to your advantage is absolutely amazing! Hopefully I gain the courage to play this game one day.
A reference to Beyond Belief:Fact or Fiction equals a big “like” from me. I used to love that show.
It’s around 6am est rn and this started my day perfectly.
weird to think it took you this many years for a fatal frame video
Layer:01
Great video. I struggle to explaining to people why it's so scary and here's this amazing deep dive into the why.
No game has ever scared me more and it helped fuel my favorite prank. My roommate Ryan played the game and we were so scared by the game we had to tap out frequently (and we were both horror fans). The character that scared him the most the night before is the little girl in the red kimono or yukata that crawls after the player from under the building. I am a small, Asian woman with long black hair and I owned a red yukata. I waited behind the couch and the living room wait for him to get his morning coffee and then frantically crawled after him just like in the game. He screamed and ended up standing on his bed dancing from foot to foot. He was completely freaked out.
He was cool about it and we had a great laugh.
Kirie was my wife's first cosplay. She loves the series to death.
I just replayed the 3rd one recently then I realized and surprised by how different how I approached the game compared to horror games now a day with always spell out what I need to do next.
I always eager to read the notes/document/data files as soon as I get them to know what happen in the lore. And often time, it will helps to progress the game quicker.
Also the horror elements are not just some dumb loud noise and flashing image but building up feeling and atmosphere then use existing system in the game when your guard is down.
And, damn, all of the endings of 1 - 3 (haven't play the 4th and 5th because of its console) are beautifully sad, well conclude and understandable.
This series were always my favorite and will forever be.
“Hey chill video I’m enjoying this :)”
“.... wait I know that voice. Did this turn into a Pathologic video?”
Always happy to hear Sulmatul chime in hahaha. Your videos are a pleasure Ragnar :)
I played the first one when I was 16 and now at 32 I am still playing this series from time to time
I’m gonna CRY I MISSED MONSTERS OF THE WEEK SO BAD
I would like your take on Red Candle Studio's stellar Tawainese games, sir! They are called "Detention" and "Devotion".
Detention is rooted in actual Taiwanese history, while Devotion is more of a psychological horror with a tang of folk religion. Both of them share the same theme though-how the tangible terrors in real life compel people to commit terrors of their own. It's less about people turning to ghosts because of unresolved grudges but people creating ghosts through their actions.
I think you'll like it.
Honestly Devotion was one of the 2nd horror games that actually made me teared up/crying by the Ending 2nd was Rise of Nightmares I know I’m emotional don’t judge me
In 2012, when we were 15, four of us friends started this game but couldn't complete it for whatever reason. Since then, it has been a mission of my life to complete this game with my pals. One of them has left the country, and the rest of us are in different universities or in medical school, so we could never find a single point where all of us were free. Finally, a few days ago because of this pandemic, we finally got to one of our friends house, started the game and finished it. I feel so accomplished, it's hard to describe. After almost a decade of stalling.. we finally got to the completion. Games can really feel so real.
Don't know if it's because of my love of history and research but I am in love with the term 'archaeological storytelling' (absolutely using that in the future). And it's a fascinating way to look at Fatal Frame, I do remember how useful the notes and audio files were in solving puzzles but I never really considered how cleverly they were implemented to build up the story and lore. I think I'll have to play the game again and really pay attention to all the little details.
Also, I've never heard of the film Kairo before, would you recommend it?
It always amazes me how good looking PS2 games are in modern resolutions without blur
(in Mafuyu's voice) So this is Himuro Mansion...
Man, Fatal Frame spooked me so much back in the day I get nervous just standing around in the game. Folklore horror is so good...
This game was so damn scary. The second one broke my brain. The setting, sounds, and lore creeped me the math out.
i find RagnarRox's videos very therapeutic. i've been on a binge recently and i find it relaxing. i now have to just collect money to buy these games
Sweet, I'm playing through Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly in these days so this video is absolutely perfect! Great topic!
Great topic for this video! Folklore is such a bone chillingly wonderful area of horror, often frustrateingly underappreciated in videogames, even when present. Keep it up, dude!
Man, you'r every video is like a treat to me. You one of very few people who actually talks about what I care.
God I wish more people had same attitude to video games, especially horror, like you present.
I just finished the first game for the first time October of last year. It still holds up really well all these years later.
I hope you'll cover the other games in the series at some point. I'd love to watch more of your thoughts on the rest of them.
Oh man, I want a new Fatal Frame. Those games were my favorite! The second one lovingly haunted me for years.
FF2 is still my favorite followed by FF3.
Everytime there's a MOTW I get cozy, been watching since Jacobs Ladder analysis and every video is its own little contextual experience in itself, keep it up RagnarRox!
I'm always so happy when one of your videos pops up in my feed! I just rewatched the one on pathologic 2 and on rule of rose, I would have never discovered those games if it wasn't for you, so thanks ❤️
i am SO HAPPY to see you talking about fatal frame. underrated and mistreated in the west. one of the few games to make me physically sick playing it. i also liked fatal frame 4 a lot more then most people, shame it didnt get officially released. holy shit, im so happy to see this
I'm waiting for the one UA-camr that gives me an hour long retrospective of any or all the Fatal Frame games. Thank you for the video.
I'm a huge Nintendo fan, but even I see that they messed up with this series. I mean they remade the 2nd game, released the 4th only in Japan, didn't do anything with 1 and 3 and released the 5th game on a failed console. And now we have nothing. Why did they even buy the IP? They should've already rereleased every older game and PZ4 outside of Japan. They also messed up with the WiiU game. I think in the US it was only available in the eshop and it was bigger than the 32GB WiiU had space on it. They released a prety cool physical version here in Europe but it doesn't matter to me since I never had a WiiU.
Project Zero 2 on Wii was fun though and I watched lets plays of the first game and the original version of the second. I don't know much about 3 and 4 . So it would be nice if they could remaster or at least rerelease the other games. If not then sell the IP back or something. I wouldn't be able to play it because I only have Nintendo consoles and I can't be bothered to buy any from the other companies, but at least this aweseome series could continue that way.
I remember my first and last experience was with the 3ds game. The concept was neat, but you could finish it in 2 hours or so, more like a tech demo than anything else xD
May i suggest the videos from Nitro Rad? He reviewed the whole franchise this past october.
He is very blunt one his criticism, but seems passionate about the concept and really likes the IP.
It wasn't entirely Nintendo's idea to put 4 on Wii, it was Kukichi's own idea. He liked the potential of the motion controls. It was planned to be released in Europe, it just never happened. The same thing with Maiden of the Black Water, it wasn't a decision made by Nintendo, Kukichi wanted to play with the unique controls of the Wii U. Even now, he's interested in making one for Switch, utlising the motion controls.
While it's not official, it is believed the only reason Maiden of the Black Water was even released outside of Japan, was because the fans requested it. Not because Nintendo just didn't want to release it.
Don't blame Nintendo for these decisions, when it wasn't a decision made by them, but by the producer of the series.
Buy a proper console, kid.
@@no.402 wow and I thought I was safe from stupid comment like yours (which doesn't matter to the topic of the video or my comment btw), when I said that I can't be bothered to buy other consoles. I don't want to go back a restrictive console that can only be used at home with a TV. The Switch is too convenient, I'm not home all the time, because most of the day I'm at work (thanks for thinking I'm young, but I'll actually be 30 years old this year lol). Also why would I buy something I wouldn't use much? The PS and Xbox don't get any of Nintendo's awesome first party games. I couldn't care less for all the shooters and gritty realistic 3rd person adventure games. I'll keep my colourful 2D or 3D platformers and all the other fun games from Nintendo with their different art styles and long legacy.
Also I'll stick with the Switched cartdiges, that I can just put in the system and play, even if there is an update, it doesn't take as long as an installation on the other consoles.
You don't deserve my long comment and maybe won't even read it, but at least I could annoy you with it a bit and correct you wrong statements for anyone who reads it.
Honestly I think recent ones only being on nintendo have held it back, feel like pc and ps4 users would eat this series up, heck there is a rather successful game inspired by it on pc (dreadout)
At the very least, Nintedo should allow backwards compatibility on PS4-5 and Xbox One-Series.
Your writing, production, and delivery are all top-notch. Thanks for doing these.
I love when people bring up fatal frame it’s such a good series more people should get introduced to.
This video, and by extension this game, are sorely under appreciated. I know it’s 3 years later, but thank you for doing a retrospective on a game that has a very special place in my heart, and by playing your own role in continuing to pass down the folklore of ancient Japanese legends to those who have forgotten or not experienced this game.
It's so cool that you got Sul Matul on this! I loved his Pathologic gamethroughs
Agh, you are making me cry out of nostalgia and happines! Thank you for making this!
fatal frame 2's story always really stuck with me. It was just so well done. The Fatal Frame series is seriously one of my top 5 favorite horror series.
Fatal Frame has always stood proudly with the greatest of horror games. I have to replay this game every year or so, and it has never disappointed me.
I've been secretly hoping you'd cover Fatal Frame. It's one of my favourites, if not my favourite horror game! Thanks a lot!
I absolutely LOVE Fatal Frame, it formed a lot of my love for horror, and the story brings me back, again and again, every few years. Even if the graphics haven't aged the best, I still love to dust off my PS2 to play it and get lost in it all over again. 🖤
ah... a rainy day in buenos aires a good coffee and a ragnar video about a horror game. i am a happy person for this timelapse
I was stunned when I heard floating museum theme by Kenji Kawai! I just can’t tell enough how good your editing and entire presentation are! Thank you.
Ooouu boy, we got Fatal Frame! Now your channel is complete.
Hey Ragnar, would you ever consider doing a Forgotten Gems style video on the 2007 PS3 game Folklore (or FolksSoul, as it was known through its Japanese translation). It was a murder mystery set in a rural village in Ireland, from which you had to journey into the worlds of the dead to uncover clues to the dark secrets of the island. It was quite a unique game, and it required to be completed twice to uncover the true story/mystery, each time as a different playable character. It's battle system was also quite unique, utilising the dualshocks sensory features, requiring the player to move the controller in various ways to capture creatures that, once captured, could be used in battle - somewhat reminiscent of Pokemon.
The worlds of the dead you explored were all very visually appealing, and with a great soundtrack, an engrossing plot vaguely reminiscent of Silent Hills at times (even if a bit sillier), and its intriguing basis in mythologies and fairy tales as its creature inspiration, all-in-all I think it's quite the Forgotten Gem!
Ahh I love hearing people talk about these games. I've been chasing the feeling I got from playing the first two games (especially the second) for almost a decade and a half, and nothing's ever really scratched that itch. The atmosphere, design, tone, vibes, etc. Theres something beautiful and lived in about it, while also being hostile and anxiety inducing. Theres just an aesthetic about it I miss so much.
I always love hearing your insights. Please keep making more Monsters of the Week
Me and my bois played this when we were 15. It was a holiday and we decided to rendezvous at one of the friends' place to play this. It was a dark, cold, rainy day with thundering, and we were playing this.. 4 of us. Still scared shitless. That is one of the best memories of my life.
Yeah, Kairo is a beast of Japanese Horror Cinema. I wish more people would watch it.
Sitting in hospital at the moment having two weeks of treatment so this new video was very welcome. Going to binge watch all your old videos now, great way to pass the time. Thank you for all your great content, best wishes from England.
I thought you would give away the story, thank you for focusing on the game itself and its interpretation. I haven't finished the story, but I fell so in love with this game.
Your video mirrors very well the beauty of Fatal Frame.
Such an amazing tribute to such an amazing game
Thank you
Fatal Frame is one of my favorite Survival horror franchises. 1-3 are so good! Glad you got around to covering these!
ahhhh im so happy now, Fatal Frame is like my fav horror series of all time
also FF1 an FF3 is srsly underrated, like FF2 is good and all
but to terrify me in the deepest level possible? holyyyy fuck 1 and 3 is that thing ya know
I'm glad to see more content, you don't dissappoint!
I first played FF on my best friend's PS2 while I was in grade 9, and we were spooked and hooked! The screensaver took us by surprise cause we left it paused for a bit while we went to get something to eat. In that quiet room, the only sound was our gasps, as the chills shook us to our core.
Keep up the great work!
Fatal Frame 2 was my favourite one! It was so creepy and scary!
We'll get to that one ;)
RagnarRox I can't wait to see it!
FF2 are also my favourite followed closely by FF3.
I'm so glad you finally did a video on Fatal Frame!
So happy to see someone finally talking about this game. I love it to bits, even more than SH3.
I loved this game growing up! As per usual, what a brilliant video. I love the fact that you still have Saba with you in the writing department. I cannot wait for the next video!!
This has to be the best and most informative video I've ever seen about Fatal Frame, Great stuff! 👍
im so upset that no one talks about fatal frame as much as resident evil or silent hill! this is the game that got me into survival horror in the first place
Hearing the tale with that voice and with Floating Museum playing in that background was amazing, GiTS's OST sets the mood for a horror story surprisingly well.
I adore the main trilogy. No matter how many times I've beaten them, the games are still fun to go back to. Honestly, I'm not a reactive person, but there's a scene in FF2 with a certain spooky arm easter egg that actually made me physically scream in fright. And with the amount of horror media I consume, that's quite a statement! No other game series has matched it.
EDIT: Gotta say, though. Broken Neck can take a friggin' flying leap-- Again.
I've been waiting for so long to see this!
To me, you know if a story was well told by observing how you can take it for what it is, on just the surface level and enjoy it for it but can also dive deeper, find hidden meaning, lore and philosophy within it. And i think you're video demonstrates that argument.
Sure, you can take it literally, kept it as just that, or you can go deeper into the story, dive head first and find more.
I also agree that, these games are somewhat of a perpetuation of the folklore. It extrapolates it, makes us active participants and expose it to more people, not letting those legends die.
Cool how Ragnar singled out "Kairo" as one of his favorites, because i feel like "Kairo" is one of the lesser appreciated J-Horror movies from it's time, and that's a crying shame. It's the one with one of the most overt and relevant social criticism still to this day.
The whole genre was super clever in it's social commentary, but i feel like "Kairo" is the one that is closer to us, the generations who grew up with so much eletronic entertainment, from gaming consoles to the internet. It's as relevant in 2020 as it was in 2001.
Also, this is a pet peeve of mine, i know it's annoying, but everytime someone mentions "Ju-on: The Grudge", my mind always screams about the fact that not many people know that "The Grudge" is the third movie in the "Ju-on" franchise.
It's mythology just got so much more famous and marketable than it's predecessors, so most people dont even know about them.
(And they are super hard to find too, just like "Rasen" the original and retconned sequel to "Ringu". Although "Rasen" has been remastered and is now a lot easier to find, there was a time when it was kind of a hidden secret amongst western audiences.)
Pretty sure Ragnar knows about all of these movies tho. As always, beautiful work.
xD
You should totally do one for Obscure I & II, still holds up imo.
Takafumi Arisawa no one i ever talk to has played Obscure before, seeing it in the comments made me jump.
Yes!! Obscure is so unique!!
@@lavendermenace33
I know right? The first time I played obscure was obscure II and I didn't know I got a PAL version so it displayed in black and white and lemme tell you it's still completely playable like I figured out something was wrong when I got across certain puzzle (died several times but got it in the end)
Playing it in black and white is hella atmospheric.
Yeah, obscure was cool! I loved that the characters almost had an rpg aspect with their unique abilities and that they used that Sum41 song for the credits
Obscure Aftermath was my first game in the series; I was always fond of the music and the chilling and depressing atmosphere it gave off.
Omg that music from the 95 ghost in the shell movie is iconic.... goosebumps...
I just subscribed. Holy shit I lost myself in the video and new layers of terror and creepines have been added to the game. Thank you!
By far my favorite Horror game series of all time I still remembered I literally jumped whenever that Blinded Ghost girl always shows up upclose in the Camera in the 1st game
Never played the series, but I've always found it interesting just wished Nintendo would rereleased it on the switch
Looking forward to another year of your video Ragnar!
This Series was one of the few that got me Scared for real! Amazing Games!
Great Vid RagnaRox!
I love your reviews, they're so well researched, informative and soothing to hear
To this day, it remains one of my top favorite games ever and I still play it. I'm hoping to eventually get a reboot or remake version, with updated and modernized graphics, better controls and HD animations, like Ghost Of Tsushima and AC: Odyssey.
my favorite horror game series of all time, this video is what ive been
waiting for for a long time
Fatal Frame was my first intro to horror gaming. Excellent discussion, as always!
I brought this game over to a friends house in middle school and it scared us so badly that we buried it in his backyard and never played it again. True story.
When you wish your favorite content creator released videos more often, but you realize that it takes time to create masterpieces. Love your content ❤
Your analysis and voice are AMAZING!!! This is seriously such a good video. Even if you never see this, I hope you at least are aware that your content is superb.
I think you just put into words what I loved about this game and Dark Souls. All of the lore you find is integral to understanding the story. It is not just learning the history of the world, like in the Elder Scrolls Series for example, in many ways the lore itself is the story. I love that feeling of slowly piecing together a story that is subtle and not obviously thrown in your face.
Exceptional vid, I would just like to add there is a lot more to J-Horror than those you mentioned in this vid, I know you weren't suggesting that the sub-genre was limited but I'd urge people to explore it further as there's some terrific "undiscovered" movies out there.
You nailed how the series tell the lore and the amazing combat, really well done.
Yessssss I’m so happy to see that you posted!! Can’t wait to watch this one later!
My favourite UA-cam channel, keep up the good work
Aw man, I was just rewatching the silent hill videos. I didn't even realize this was a new one right away. Super excited to see this series return.
I heard the Ghost in the shell in there.
Very nice.
Personally, the first Fatal Frame is my favorite out of the series. It impressed me so much, I still remember most of the cutscenes and ghosts, espacially from the first part of the story. Good times. 😊 Thanks for this great video, you nailed it.👍🏼
Literally one of my favorite games of all time. Far above almost everything else, and equal to just a few. Thank you so much for this brilliant reading on it. You finally put in to words what I couldn't explain.
I remember mom renting this game one night. Her and dad loves it so much that they bought a copy. It scared me alot as a kid (didn't help we lived in a house that had activity of its own).
But once I grew up some, I found I actually really liked the game. It made me a horror fan.
I absolutely love Fatal Frame! I wish they made a VR version of it!
I've always wanted to play this game as long as I can remember. Especially considering that I love J-horror, SH and folklore. Thank you for reminding me of its existence!!
Always nice to see this gem of a series brought back up. I've been quite the fan for a while, though I must admit, while I've played pretty much all of them, I haven't played any to completion. Them being PS2 games hasn't helped me get back to them in more recent years.
I was mildly curious where this footage was captured, so I'm glad to see you shared the settings you used for PCSX2. I tend to forget about emulation options when it comes to more modern platforms (though I suppose PS2 hasn't been modern for ages). This will be a good way for me to get back to the game without having to worry about having room on my Memory Card (8MB) for all the picture data and such.
