How do you feel about this? How did you feel about the previous Joker film?
I think the first movie was good and didn’t need a sequel in my opinion.
The first Joker movie is the kind of film that doesn't need a sequel.
Loved the first one. As this trailer went on it really grabbed me. Can't wait. The last five seconds have some really nice acting. Todd Phillips did once say another film maker said to him that Joker was a first act story. So I think a sequel could work. I have gotten very tired of Harley as a character in recent years. I think she's run her life as a main one. But this looks like it could be a good take on her.
I must admit I was sceptical but the trailer looks interesting. I think the first one is great. One moment that is especially good (albeit hard to watch) is when Joker does standup for the first time as I've seen that happen, Phoenix really did his homework on that one!
I'm definitely getting the vibe that Harley is either a complete fantasy existing only in the Joker's mind or else she's an undercover shrink pretending to be a mental patient to get closer to him.
Joaquin’s Joker is a unique take on the character in that it turns away from pure villainy to a tragic figure you could sympathize with. Along with the musical aspects this is true elseworld.
Oh he’s still pure villainy… him killing that psychiatrist at the end of the movie kind of says it all. The “tragic figure” is just for you to feel bad for him.

harley quinn could still be the psychiatrist. i think all this is in his head and perhaps at the end of the movie we see the harley quinn we all know
I was surprised by how intrigued this made me lol. I know a lot of people are weirded out by it being a musical, but to me it's kind of fitting. It's jarring and out of place, just like the Joker.
I am so intrigued by it. I can't wait to hear more of the music though. I hope there are original musical numbers. That would be so great. Do you think Harley is real here or is she only in Joker's mind? We need to discuss this during our next live. I have so many thoughts. I do love how different this is. Joker marches to the beat of their own drum as a production and I think that's so brave and cool.
The best part of the trailer is you really don't have a clue of what's "real" and what's a delusion/hallucination... and whose delusion/hallucination it may be. It's fun to see these different breakdowns on YT, everyone is really just guessing. 🤣
Harley is a psychiatrist in this movie using music therapy on the inmates.
I would love this if it's true. :) It seemed more to me like she is also an inmate when they meet in this trailer. Was this mentioned somewhere? Or is this how you saw her role based on the trailer?
Phoenix is the actor of our time. How lucky are we that we get to watch him make cinema history. Oct 4 seems so far away
What the world needs now is a classic song! I think you need re-watch the first one, everything you need to know about Joker's character is there. There are also dozens of comic easter eggs in the teaser.

I'm a bit conflicted about this. On one hand, it looks amazing, and I really trust Phillips to make it great, but on the other hand, I feel like maybe the first being a standalone film is best. The first is just a really special movie, that is terrifyingly down to earth, delivers a loud message, and leaves you with more questions than answers. As you see Arthur slowly lose his mind, the nerrator becomes more and more unreliable, and in the end, you have no idea how he got there.
I just feel like maybe leaving it like it was, a standalone movie, is the best call, but hey, I'm definitelly ready to be proven wrong.

First statement that comes to mind after first watch: multiple choice
I really liked the first movie and I'm super excited to see where this goes. I get what people are saying that the first movie doesn't need a sequel or that it doesn't really feel like the joker we know, but I think it's a super interesting version and I'm excited to see where they can take it. It definitely feels more like the recent Batman movies than the comics but honestly a more grounded version is pretty cool.
Why Joker? Biggest villain eever. Giving it Depth and story to him

This one has a lot of storylines which link to the first so might be best to watch it if you do decide to check this one out
You know what, it's probably not going to be comic book accurate, they are going to obviously change some things up for this story, as with the first one and hell with a lot of comic book movies, even some great ones they change up things from the comics for the story they are telling, adaptations don't have to be a comic book panel to panel, word for word (unless they want to be, if they can do it we'll, why not) as long as it is entertaining, a good story, good performances and it can be it's own thing.
Personally, these days...I'm just tired, and just want a good movie

@@ibrake4rappers the thought had occurred to me. Like Inceptions dream with a dream, Joker's fantasy within a fantasy. But I kind of don't want that, as that would be kind of a repeat of Zazie Beet's character in the 1st one. But I'm intrigued to see how it plays out
Yeah there's already couple of hints to the Detective comics in the teaser which is crazy cool
I'm wondering if this will depict the original type of relationship Joker and Harley had. The domestic moments between them. That would be an interesting lead into the dream sequences

I have VERY few musicals I like. I actively avoid them. I dont even like Sweeney Todd or Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Little Shop of Horrors
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Robin Hood: Men in Tights (and other Mel Brooks musicals)
Maybe I do like musicals. I was wrong. I don't like Lady Gaga though.

I agree, the trailer is compelling. But the words "musical" and "Gaga" are like a bucket of water on my smoldering tinder of interest. Who knows, it may be good, but I'm going to wait for reviews because first-run movies are some serious coin these days.
The first Joker movie was so bad. Joaquin Phoenix acted his absolute ass off of in it, but him and DeNiro were trying to save an absolutely muddled mess of a script. I have a long, boring rant that no one cares about so I won't write it all now, but my thoughts are fairly simple: Fantastic performances in a movie in a mess of a movie.
Will the second one be good? Honestly I expect more of the same. Probably some incredible performances, but the films very existence is a giveaway that it's probably not going to be good.
No one asked for a musical Joker movie. It might not be bad, but it doesn't feel at all like what we want.
i dont get people get so hung up on the movie being a musical. if its a good movie its a good movie regardless right?
Joker and Harley are theatrical characters they're the only comic characters that'd fit into a musical.
It makes sense in terms of the animated series and the first film
