@@ForceOfLightEntertainment I’m with you Natalie! Hey, to me some of the best love stories are beautiful because of how dark and imperfect they are. Can a person’s crazy match your own crazy, that’s the most important question that makes a couple work well together.
Its shared hallucinations, as Folie a deux means madness for two. The scene where Arthur is walking with the guards and the umbrellas are black and then multi coloured because of his delusion. Harley is a psychiatrist in this version who uses music therapy to help inmates and sometimes dresses like an inmate to get closer to them.
That’s a potential spoiler twist not well known to be talked about
What Gaga is going to do with Harley with this role is what Heath Ledger did with his portrayal of the Joker. Its going to be so good!

Imagine if Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn were in Robert Pattinson’s Batmaniverse, that would’ve been wicked epic!
I also hope that this film could get a $1B Box Office like the first film, and get a 2hrs 30mins run-time if they’re interested.

I absolutely LOVE that the scenery of his musical daydreams is in the style of Batman The Animated Series.

Harley Quinn first appeared in "Batman The Animated Series" in the early 90s, which I HIGHLY recommend watching. Dare i say, it has THE BEST JOKER EVER. Anyway, she was supposed to be his psychiatrist and he manipulated her into falling in love with him. I don't know why they changed that in this movie. Sadly, the actress who was the original voice of Harley, Arleen Sorkin, passed away last year. On a completely unrelated topic, "Folie a Deux" the title of one of my favorite "X-Files" episodes. It's very creepy and worth checking out.

@@havok6280 We don't know if she's a patient or not yet. Don't forget, they are also showing Joker's delusions and day dreams - so we don't know if she's not actually a doctor treating him or even dare, I say it, manipulating him instead of the other way around like usual with Joker and Harley.
Brilliant! Your theory is the 1st content creator I've read who speculated a lot of what we saw in the trailer could be in Harley's mind...an interesting take for sure if so...I'm not a fan of musicals but I did enjoy the 1st movie so willing to give this one a chance, like you I too plan on going to see it Opening night...Interestingly I saw the first film in New York as I was attending ComicCon there in 2019 and it seems this one will coincide around that time as well 😊

I'm curious if Harley is even real. While we see her walking up the courthouse steps we don't actually see her talking to anyone else other than Arthur in the trailer. Or, is she real but their relationship is in his or her head? It's a very well done trailer and has me very interested in this film.
Whether it is a masterpiece or a dumpster fire it is going to be gorgeous.
I think they can do a lot with this. I'm hopeful.
I am very excited to watch this movie because of how uncertain I am of its quality. I have *very* mixed feelings about the first movie, that can only be described as rollercoaster. And hey, even if Joker 2 ends up not being very good, this trailer is a masterpiece

Joker 🃏 2 is gonna be a definite make or break type of movie with all the music 🎶 set pieces set throughout the movie. The only thing missing is Poison Ivy. I’d be surprised if they bring in the Batman into this movie 😮
They won't be bringing Batman into these movies, these are Elseworld stories to begin with and just having Batman show up out of nowhere would be really out of place. They could mention something related to Batman happening in Gotham, but he won't show up. At least not until they do a 3rd movie lol and even then it won't be any of the Batmen we know.
Interesting. Joker & Harley romance movie. 🃏 October 4 or same day when Joker 2019 was released. We got the Penguin series coming this Fall too. This Joker looks interesting. Don’t really know what to expect. It seems part romance and part musical.
I’m there. This is a Day 1 for me. I never miss a live action movie related to Batman or Gotham going back to 1989. And yes, I did enjoy Joker 2019 and was happy when Joaquin won an Oscar for it. I always knew he had the talent since seeing him in 8MM and Gladiator. Joker ’19 is Todd’s love letter to Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy while getting De Niro for it!
Warner Bros. looks loaded this year. They still got Furiosa in May and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in September. Planning to see Godzilla x Kong a third time this week. What I really can’t wait for is The Batman Part II. Robert Pattinson hates Twilight but his favorite video game of all-time is the same as mines: Final Fantasy VII (1997). But I’m more a fan of Tifa and I especially love her more in Remake while he loves Aerith.
Cool trailer. Hope we see another trailer in 2-3 months to explain the story a little better. This teaser is a bit confusing on it’s premise. It’s like a romance story mixed with One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest but set in Arkham Asylum but turned musical? That’s the vibes I’m getting from it. But I think they’ll nail their performances because Joaquin and Gaga can really act. Gaga was excellent in House of Gucci even if the movie wasn’t good.
June looks loaded. House of the Dragon S2 vs. The Boys S4 vs. The Acolyte. I’m watching all of them!! But I think WB wins again with House of the Dragon in the Year of the Dragon 🐉. I love The Boys but GRRM’s lore is far more interesting. I will watch The Acolyte based off curiosity but I’m not sure I’m interested in watching space lesbians. Frickin’ Disney. The Acolyte might bore people like they did with Echo.
The movie that could surprise me the most this year will be released this Thursday. I’m hearing great reviews for Civil War. I think the premise to it is interesting. I’m older than Kirsten Dunst by almost a year and a half but she already looked 10 years older than me from 10 years ago! Her real life husband portraying the Trump supporter / soldier is making me become a bigger fan for Jesse Plemons.
Whether some people might be unsure with this being musical, one thing is for sure: Joaquin and Gaga are going to crush their roles. Oscar-nominated performances. Joaquin Phoenix is one of the best actors of the last 25 years. His older brother, River, would be proud. That lipstick scene is an insta-meme classic. That’s going to be used as a meme or gif for generations. It’s an instant classic scene from this movie. Flawless execution.
So far, Warner Bros. still has the best movie of 2024 in Dune: Part Two. They’re killing it. Dune 2 and Joker 2 could both be nominated for Best Picture. Then we got a Superman movie and a Batman movie next year. F Disney. 😂 Well, except for Deadpool & Wolverine this July.
Sometimes I assume things about people and I would not have assumed that you two would have liked the Joker movie. I'm so glad you do. It was dark and gritty but very unique. I was really into the character. He goes from a used up nobody with mental problems to a really powerful guy in one instant.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this in October.
My favorite comic things are The Dark Knight and Netflix’s Daredevil. I can really appreciate dark and gritty when it’s done well. In the case of what I mentioned above and Joker they were all done incredibly well!
I have no doubt the elements will work with the musical portions, but that doesn’t mean it will be a perfect movie. I loved the first one but it had its faults. I am very excited for this 2nd one though !
My nephew gave his opions to me on this ... pass for me. The Joker shall remain to me as Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight." WOW, and RIP. How sad a talent like this was lost to us so early.
I'm %100 bias when I say I think it looks great. From day one, when it was announced that it would be a musical, I was on board. I think it make total sense because they had musical-esk moments in the first movie and other films like "Lala Land" "Shape of Water" or "Chicago" have already proven that making the Musical elements part of a dream like delusion or something abstract can work in a film.
My question is. Do we really need a sequel to Joker? Personally I don’t think so, but what do I know?

Don't forget, these movies are officially Elseworld stories now (or at least considered as such by James Gunn etc.) so anything could technically happen. Not to mention, this Joker isn't "the" Joker per se.
@LordLOC Oh, I know, but my point is I don't need another else-worlds, Joker origin story. If this is good, I'll see it. Otherwise, I don't care. At this point, I just want a faithful adaption of good stories from the comics. Like "Nightfall!" Nolan kind of wasted Bane in "The Dark Night Rises," even though I like the movie. I don't want just another Hollywood interpretation that they think would be better than the comics. As far as the Gunn-verse, I don't have much hope.

Now it's Joker and Harley (we assume coming together, and then maybe not being together?) and more mayhem occurring. I have way more faith in Gunn handling (most) of the DC film stuff than the previous people....including Synder who I still think is horribly overrated as a director.

Arthur is doing music therapy in the asylum and if you remember the 1st film, he was dancing in his apartment and of course the famous stairs scene, the music was in his head, all the musical numbers are going to be Arthur and Harleys shared delusions.

Yeah, I think it's clear that the musical numbers are taking place in his and Harley's mind (hence the title, which loosely translates to 'shared delusion'). The scene where they are dancing on the roof of 'Hotel Arkham', is just them dancing in the streets, hence the cut like that in the trailer to show their disassociation from actual reality.

Hello FOLE - glad you liked the trailer for Foile a Deux ( in essence Madness Two ) .
It's a pass for me. Not fond of the first Joker. It seemed like a poor imitation/combination of "American Psycho" and "King of Comedy" .
This movie using the Burt Baccarat track with it seems painful - it's a great song and it doesn't deserve this treatment.
I don't buy Phoenix or Gaga loving one another or anyone else. Harsh maybe - but I just can't buy it.
I do hope it is good for your sake, but, as I am sure you have guessed, I think this is gonna be a huge dumpster fire.

Much as I have enjoyed Joaquin Phoenix's work over the years and really loved his singing in the Johnny Cash biopic 'Walk the Line', Joker was not a film I liked. Not interested in the sequel and leaning toward it being a dumpster fire Michelle. Hope I am wrong and you two end up watching a great film ladies.

I thought a Musical sequel would absolutely be a dumpster fire but the trailer making me change my mind.
It's not a musical, it has musical sequences, but Todd Phillips made it clear it's not a pure musical. So don't expect people to break out into song at odd times etc. lol
Merely spitballing here, but I find it interesting how it bookends with who he "really is". Since it seems it begins with a man in front of a camera more than a cell door. As if the Joker has been playing the part of Arthur all along.

I hope after this film DC ditches the grounded and realistic approach to their films. Hopefully in The Batman Part II we get more fantastical villains like Mr. Freeze and Clayface.
I don’t think you will get that from Reeves Batman (if they continue it) but will probably get a less dark version in James Gunn’s DC world

Poison Ivy's lesbian relationship with Harley was better for her - coming from devout Christians.:) If limited to comics, Batman and Selina Kyle (Cat woman) is better even after she leaves him because he's too nuts to ever be happy. I really dislike musicals. I did not like the first one and Batman does not have a brother named Arthur Fleck. They made up so much for this movie. It was impossible for me to enjoy because I collect comic books. And who is bright idea was it to replace Margot Robie with Lady Gaga? There’s no way I will be watching this ladies.
