This moment at 15:38 when Plini is shredding like a master, looking towards Tim what he might bring up after this and Tim then delivering a free-time-scale-madness-music-theory-defying solo line... priceless!
Tim is a mutant. Been following him since his first release and he's definitely not a conventional shredder at all. More like a fusion of the legato madness of Allen Holdsworth and the pastoral phrasing of Bill Frisell. He's something else.
Tim became a guitar hero of mine after watching this. I then looked all of his other work and became blown away. Fantastic style and fluidity. Certainly pull a lot of inspiration from him these days. Big up to Tim Miller!!!
Lol @7:43. Discovered tim probably close to 25 years ago at Towson university Md and he blew my mind with his old harp guitar. Been buying his albums ever since. Trust me when I say he might have even held back a tad on this performance 😄
This was not a performance... This was a whole anthology on exercising restraint. It was almost like watching a fearsome knife wielding criminal.. you'd just expect to be stabbed with notes but then he shows mercy. What a masterclass performance! I am shook
There's some different flavors in here - definitely some Al Dimiola from Javier, Jake epoloys some pretty good satch/vai'ism which they do have things of their own that aren't purely inspired by Holdsworth. Undeniably theres holdsworth influence in the prog rock nature of things but they're drawing from a lot of great modern guitar players of our time.
@Derek Pedersen I think that's just because the chord progression is the same as in inca roads. He definently sounds a lot more like holdsworth in terms of touch and technique, even a lot of the phrasing.
Hell yeah!! So stoked to see Tim getting some love. He's such an amazing player and composer. Fantastic playing by all. Plini and the more mathy stuff is still unexplored territory for me. Definitely gonna be checking in more often.
I didn't know who Tim Miller was until a couple of days ago. So I played a video and this dude sounded like Allan Holdsworth and I went, WHAT, no way! He's awesome, I just listened to his first record Trio, and now I'm listening to Trio Volume 2. I have two more albums to go. Good stuff!
at 17:00 - 18:00 it starts getting real magical. can I just buy tickets to watch these guys do like a 2 hour riff at a stage somewhere, just take my money already lol. I'm not a huge guitar guy but this is just amazing. true art, and understanding of their craft in full display.
Agreed, seems very obvious that he has been very influenced by Holdsworth... the legato articulation, but also his choice of melodic and harmonic movement, how he places rests, little short fills, etc. VERY close to Holdsworth.
All true about Tim and Holdsworth. However, Tim does not use 4 notes per string like Allan- he gets to where Allan was harmonically and with legato, but his method of getting there (1-2-1) is very different. Tim also is a hybrid picker like Brett Garsed and Tom Quayle where Allan only used is other fingers when hitting chords, but not when soloing.
Kind of like when Steve Morse and also EVH took the stage with Holdsworth, in two different performances. Holdsworth just did his thing in earnest and totally schooled everyone.
Lots of great things have been said about Tim and his playing on this video, but he's also an excellent teacher and you should run and pay for his content if you're a guitar player.
The story of that solo is a story about an old auntie going to the morning market and buying some fish.. on the way back home she realized, she just had no kitchen..
Tim didn’t even have to take his coat off for this shit, what a legend. What beautiful phrasing.

Holy shit, that was insane.
Seen a lot of these jam session things live now. Tim's may be the most tasteful I've heard.

I like how Tim gets the respect he deserves. He is unreal. Love him

His inspiration is Allan Holdsworth.
Start listening to Holdsworth if you're not already familiar.
Tim's restraint is the best thing here
Agreed. He likes to take you right to the edge then pulls you back in.
Couldn't agree more ❤️❤️❤️
Wow Tim Miller completely on another level:O
Props to Dave on keys. He nailed the vibe!
Such spellbinding melodies from Tim Miller
Check Juan Dhas, he was Tim's student. His style is also similar but still will leave you with an amazing vibe
Tim Miller another Planet

All wonderful players, the juxtaposition of which enhances the enjoyment of each. Tim Miller begins, guitarists get out their phones and film. Smile.
Tim is so damn good. My goodness!

Pretty much all the guitar playing here can be traced back to Holdsworth's playing in the 80s. Love it all.

Tim's one for sure.

Nope
I concur sir, first thing I noticed about his playing!
Hell yeah!! So stoked to see Tim getting some love. He's such an amazing player and composer. Fantastic playing by all. Plini and the more mathy stuff is still unexplored territory for me. Definitely gonna be checking in more often.
Tim Miller another level
Everytime tim starts playing his back makes a 90 degree bend
Shout out to the drummer. I love TOTO too

If you didn’t know, Allan Holdsworth was the original master, he will blow you away as he was light years ahead of everyone, and still is🎸
ayy I was there too (guy with the blue jacket and white glasses in front of the mic)! Unreal show

Outstanding musicians. Love Tim Miller’s tone and performance, but everyone sounded great.
Dude, that was just... MAGIC!
Love how the guys on the right of the stage are taking lesson and notes...
tim. tim. tim. tim. tim. tim. tim.
Sooo Inca Roads (Tim Miller) while keeping his own thing and style. Love it.
That was epic!! Javier Rodriguez 💥🤘
thank you so much for this!!
Tim is god tier
Pure gold, from master Plini and friends!!
WOW! I just fucking cheered out loud at the end of a youtube video! That was EPIC!!!!
I love how Jake prepares the lick and the look back at Tim after executed and Tim Smiles back
Which minute mark is that :D?
@@Marunius 12:02
This dude teaches at my school 🤯
Lights guy is awesome
damn.. that gold 8 strings strat style
too bad Allen H. passed away. Tim's keeping that flame lit.
Amazing, loving the Steely Dan s/o @00:09:20 :)
What’s the s/o?
After Tim played they were like yeah that's enough guitar for a while how about some keys 🤣
Tim sounds like a student of Allan Holdsworth! Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. All these cats are greatness!
Agreed, seems very obvious that he has been very influenced by Holdsworth... the legato articulation, but also his choice of melodic and harmonic movement, how he places rests, little short fills, etc. VERY close to Holdsworth.
@@twtobin941 Yes TW, that legato. I can’t even articulate that kind of precision. lol

@@Lonnie-B1Generally true about Holdsworth only using right hand fingers with chords but later on he also used fingers with pick when soloing.

Awesome.
Javier's solo is being overlooked here, such a sick underrated player.
Very beautiful!
That was mindblowing stuff
Great stuff all around. Dave MacKay switched it up nicely / thanks for the upload

Shit, maybe I should get to a Plini show. Electric Sunrise shows up on a lot of my Spotify algorithms.
Pure guitar God's
These guys are all phenomenal players, but the vamp they're playing over isn't giving them anywhere to go.
That's so sick.
Niiiice!
great !
Hi what did you record this on. Sounds so good!
@plini 14:10 can't expect them to sing like Singapore...
Tim Miller...Allan Holdsworth style....Allan in everywhere!!!!
Dave honestly followed up pretty damn well after Tim. Like holy shit.
Nope.
i think it's even better. and it's a well needed contrast between the two completely different guitar solos.
@@tobimm2 well said.
Tim Miller seems to like Alan Holdsworth, Brett Garsed and Eric Johnson. So do I... And Plini.
its like Kiesel vs 3 Strandbergs and an Ibanez
The aristides is killing it too 😉
WOW
AWESOME!!!!!!
If Allan Holdsworth (RIP) sued for players ripping him off, there would be barely anyone left!!
Tim Miller 1 - planet earth 0
Heard a bit of Physical Education in there from Javier and plini
Tom a riff Yep! You SURE DID! It occurred from 15:59 to 16:12.
Lots of great things have been said about Tim and his playing on this video, but he's also an excellent teacher and you should run and pay for his content if you're a guitar player.
I love these guitarists, but next to Tim they all sound so conventional.
09:19 "the lick"
Epilepsy level lighting
hats off to those guys at the front trying their best to headbang at 13/8..
Jesus Christ, it's a wonder that stage didn't cave in.
Haha, Tim set the bar too high for the others that followed. XD
Never heard about Tim Miller, but he sounds a lot like Allan Holdsworth. That style fits very well progressive metal.
Ridiculous! I mean ridiculous good...
Bass player super hated on in this video lol
Couldn't really get into tim's solo, maybe i didnt understnad it. Javier's was amazing tho and imo the second best player there
The story of that solo is a story about an old auntie going to the morning market and buying some fish.. on the way back home she realized, she just had no kitchen..
Absolutely disgusting Holdsworth licks from Miller.
CAR WASH
Dry
This set is really awkward
Found the casual
Yngwie J Malmsteen needs to be there.. more fun i think.. 🕺
