Brilliant. These guys are doing very interesting effect pedals, not as the hundreds of other companies making the same overdrive over and over again. These pedal effects aren't for me but to be honest I must admit that his pedal effects are very original.
Yeah exactly what I thought. I don't care if you hate the sound of this thing think it's gimmicky or what. These guys tried to do something new for a change and I certainly can appreciate the efforts. Every pedal I see feels like a rehash of ages old ideas. I don't care what fancy new materials or components are in this years "new" overdrive pedal. This thing is as creative as it gets. The design is pretty awesome on it's own and while you could always hook into an actual synth this makes it just another modular part of any pedal board and a real awesome looking one.
even my gnarliest nasty old fuzz boxes don't sound anywhere as good as this... ..and it overheats.. great rock guitar gear sounds best when you can smell smouldering components...
Anyone else tired of the same old diode/op-amp clipping circuits being recycled over and over? This is rad! I like Gamechanger Audio's approach to making sounds in new ways. ...That said, I would be concerned about purchasing a pedal based on using physical motors. (Remember what the guy said about overheating.) I would absolutely want to make sure that it's an AC motor or brushless DC. There's always an additional risk of failure with moving parts.
@@NicholasGreenwood Yeah I'd love to have one of these knocking about in the studio just to get some really weird and noisy textures, but I definitely could not see myself putting this on my pedalboard for live use.
It's a cute art piece and something to toy around with for sure, but unless someone gifted me one I wouldn't own it personally. It's easier to run your signal through other things, like a suite of filters and other effects on a computer, which I do all the time. The argument can be made about how responsive it is, but latency hasn't been an issue for close to 10 years running (recording 24 channels at absurd bitrates simultaneously notwithstanding) and it still seems more expense and trouble than it's worth. Just my opinion.
@KC lol there are lots of different motors, it doesn't sound like my 2,7cdi either nor does one of these sound like a helicopter but that pedal covers a wide range of motor, helicopter and rave party sounds, i am just curious about the price^^
gamechanging challenge: build a pedal that sounds like a tesla.... you can't just take a tuner pedal, you have to replicate the sound of tyres rolling, maybe a boost button with michelin tyres.
Very cool!!! Could be the most promising pedal at NAMM. In a 2 guitar band or just in the studio it has fantastic rhythm possibilities. Depending on price I would buy one in a heartbeat. Good job guys, some really interesting sounds and the sustain is...wow!
What happened to the Synthesiser your company was showing that had 6 wheels inside which would spin at various speeds ? It also had a Red tinted " window " on top area of the product so you were able to watch how fast the mechanical wheels were moving. Did the company scrap that idea and turn it into a small Pedal ?
this pedal uses actual mechanical electromotors instead of software that can do the same thing but without the cost, weight, and reliability issues so I don't exactly see how pointing out that this is kinda dumb qualifies as hating progress and technology
I'm all for progress, but new is not enough, it has to be better too. For instance the Plasma pedal is a fascinating idea and looks badass, but unfortunately it sounds like total dog shit.
Pretty cool. And you're angering old, annoying, purist, gate-keeping guitar players. That alone is a success story, whether the sound is your kind of sound or not.
@@aldousgrieves7415 Yes, that's the old, annoying, purist, gate-keeping guitar players always trying to teach you their way of playing guitar like "No you can't plug your Gretsch into your Bogner Überschall, there's no reason to approach guitar playing like this, you want 'good' sound i'll show you!" -> No, gtfo, i want my Gretsch into my Überschall and the Motor pedal is great.
@@BingsBuddery damn those seems like mighty aggressive words from someone commenting on a UA-cam video. What's the problem with what they've released and what's the problem with this?
@@BingsBuddery A hack is someone who re-uses the same tired old ideas over and over. For example the pedal company that comes out with yet another Klon style overdrive would be a hack. This instrument is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. I'd be sold on this already if it weren't the concern I have for the maintenance required to maintain something like this with all the moving parts.
I've thought a lot about this concept. I think the ultimate outcome (although more expensive) would be a motor per key with encased vibrating motors that vibrate off a membrane, with the tension being controlled by aftertouch. Another idea would be for the vibrating motors to hold cups of tuned beads.
The sequencer effect is pretty cool. Can you sync this to drum loops or a drum machine? Most of the sounds in the demo are pretty silly, unless you want your guitar to sound like a motorcycle run through a vintage synth (which I'm certain some do).
"Instant Rave Dance Party going on" YES! YES! I want that! Thats the sweet sound of party all night! Narrow-minded purists maybe come to hate it but it's awesome af!
Yeah, I don't think he grasped what was being shown to him, at the moment, (Dance party)!! I might've been blown away, too, though!. This looks like a badass pedal, for your music's uniqueness, and audio/tonal variations.. I applaud their thinking & experimenting with this! It's not a simple pedal that turns your guitar into a synth sound! It seems designed, intelligently, to give you creative control of an awesome tonal palette for your playing!. I shouldn't have watched this video, because I will probably be buying one, now.. Ha ha..
It would be great to be able to attach volume pedals to control each parameter + tap tempo (with an infinite know on the actual pedal si it can be used with the volume pedal) + plus looper........ You woukd have an even bigger beast.
GREAT. I'm trying to stay away from a pedal chain and just use a Tech21 Flyrig. I'm making an exception with this pedal, I may even put it in the send/return wet side of the Plus pedal. Latvia for the Win.
MY humble input towards gamechanger: This is genious as always, but I think it would be even better if you 'd add momentary control to the motors, so we could hear those engines start spinning or stop spinning or both. As a general comment I think there is a silent.....lets call it......momentary revolution.....taking place in the pedal universe, as more and more pedal boxes offer a momentary version of their effect. And I personally think that it would be a game changer if you could drum up a pedal that would concentrate on a variety of instantly accessible momentary effects....a multieffect unit, but exclusively momentary. Love from Greece. ( I have your plasma pedal and absolutely adore it)
It's a cool concept. I think the main competitor to this kinds of pedal is like the Miku pedal. And even if that's one is great, it's not really responsive to your guitar playing. If you can make this more responsive, I guess maybe true-er to a guitar's soul, it can be a cool pedal.
Sounds great. Not sure why they needed to use a motor. I guess its a fun idea but surely the mechanical parts just shorten the lifetime of the product for no real gain. I mean unless you want to physically change the sound by shaking the unit.

A tap tempo function to play arpeggios in time with band tempos. 😁
