I know Fantano was ragging a bit on Up Song for fun; however, Up Song’s importance is in re-assuring the entire crowd that despite BCNR losing Issac, they’re appreciative of him and have so much still to do together. Hearing it live was the ultimate pick-me-up, and it made the entire set incredible.

Love this band. Ants is a masterpiece. Not sure how I feel about his current collection of songs. A ton of interesting ideas, but not sure it all holds together.
I think if ants is a 10, this is like an 8.5 (for me). On their own almost every song is incredibly good and stands up to the quality of their other work, but because of how impromptu the writing of this set list is, it makes sense that they don’t all fit together amazingly
I believe that’s the point to be fair, just them getting a new direction for their sound. Also would be interesting to hear studio recordings instead of a live performance as well
I don't think the point was for all of it to be held together or be an incredibly cohesive body of work. The band created the set list on the fly and were writing songs just weeks before their next tour dates. To me this feels like more of a reassurance that things will continue on even with the things that have changed

Oh man. I am conflicted about this band. I think they're definitely good musicians, they bring a jolly, warm and old-fashioned band/live sound to the table and their songs are slowburners which get substantially better with more listenings, but I think they are a bit too "nice", if that makes sense. After all, they hooked me with their more Slint-inspired, chaotic debut album. I can't wait for the stuff they will put out in 10 years time.... is more or less how I feel about their stuff. Will probably be something Radiohead-tier.
I think that’s what makes them so exciting. They’re all so young and incredibly proficient musicians, watching them grow and develop creatively is going to be amazing
Yeah i get you, that was my issue with AFUT. While i really loved the album and some of the old-world and theater charm it brought with it, it felt odd compared to their darker sounding debut. Still good mind you, but it has too different of an essence. I think Isaac had a pretty big part in the writing and texture of the songs but maybe things will seem different if they do a studio release of these
Didn’t connect with this album. It’s too musical theatre for me. Unfortunately I think Issac brought so much to the table in terms of vision, sound, lyricism. We shall see if their next release is better but yeah so far this band doesn’t hit without Issac.
Just my opinion, I can’t get into Tyler Hyde’s voice and at this point she’s doing a lot of it. Maybe it will change in the future I’m sure, but I’m more a fan of the sax player and piano player, and instrumental arrangements. She’s not a bad lyric writer, but she’s seems to obviously want to front the band, not my style. But I’d like to keep riding with them and see what happens
