I fkn hate his chat so much, there are so many other live review channels where people are giving opinions and thoughts, his chat is “THIS SUCKS” or just copying whatever vibe Anthony is giving off. It’s not his fault, just got too many people thinking they’re all Anthony fantano in one room.
Don't loose too much hope. At the beginning, I did see a comment that says "TOP 3 BLACK MIDI SONGS". All hope isn't lost, just misguided people. Kendrick is great btw
I don't hear Primus here musically speaking. This song reminds me of a band that never got the attention they deserved ...Thought Industry - look them up if you dig this song.
Everyone out here with the Primus comparison when its much closer to Mclusky and Future of the Left. Listen to Singing of the Bonesaws and tell me the rant/ramble isn't in the same vein.
With all due respect mr melon I think you’re dead wrong on the primus comparison. Primus made wandering, chaotic tracks with superfluous ventures on the bass or guitar here and there. Black midi’s welcome to hell is a much more driven, focused style. The instrumentation is down right methodical, everything builds to a meaningful tool when the narration needs it. Or is it the other way around? Anyway, I don’t think it wise to compare primus to black midi when all they share is a hard math rock style & spoken word. Beyond that surface level analysis the music shares little similarities.
You’re effectively being the heavily memed version of the guy who hears a Radiohead song and says “that’s just a Coldplay song”. Yes they both sing in high falsettos and play indie rock, but that is a bonehead analysis
C'mon, while I agree with your comparison, if you're expecting someone to deliver a high-level analysis of one of the busiest songs I've ever heard, directly after hearing it for the first time, you're delusional. It's simply a fun comment that rings somewhat true
When I played John L and this song for a friend his immediate connection was Primus and he said it sounds like John the Fisherman and something off Frizzle Fry. I don’t hear it but I think the connection can kind of make sense, and if it makes more people like it then I think it’s alright
Ah yes, John The Fisherman, it’s just ancient monk tunes, but worse. This isn’t in any way worse bro, comparing something against something you like more isn’t good criticism.

@Brandon Gray drums are really primus also the guitars have a machine like quality I find I notice in alot of primus songs
Also listening to John the fisher man and welcome to hell there sooo many similarities especially at the beginning
@Brandon Gray the intro is almost exactly the same as in Primus's "John the Fisherman"
