I've been a subscriber for several years and watching your videos is a daily appointment for me and my wife. I am really bad about complimenting all the UA-camrs who give us such pleasure, so figured I'd stop everything and tell you how much pleasure "Cole the Cornstar" videos have brought us. We've loved everyone who has passed through over the past few years, but by far our favorite has been Roman. We hope he's there for the long haul. Keep it up. God bless you and your entire family and the whole Cornstar Farms crew.
Cole, important! Since you have this all open I’m attic and live in Tornado prone area. I highly suggest buying and adding in hurricane ties! Well worth the money. Roofs off is what ruins homes with Tornados. Well worth the investment for family safety and home longevity
Tornado will still destroy a house with hurricane ties on it ! They only help in straight line winds but tornadoes like the Class 3 & class 4 Tornadoes that just hit Oklahoma and Nebraska 2 weeks ago.... those hurricane tie downs wouldn’t keep the roof from coming off because it would level the house. They’re great in high winds but not a tornado.
@@CCRider5312 tornados are rated by EF scale not class. EF stands for Enhanced Fujita scale. But to your point, no structure survives a direct hit if it’s a big enough tornado. Lived on the plains my entire life and have witnessed their power and destruction.
But don’t forget they are” paid by the hour” 🤣🤣. But seriously, I’m in my bed 99% of the time due to health reasons and all these guys do and do with what we call in the U.K “banter” makes me laugh, especially with the task board saying Gustan smells. when Roman does things on the internet and there's that little check box that says " I am not a robot" , how does he in all honesty answer that ??? The man is a machine ! Go Roman !
Wow !!! You all are knocking it out of the park !!! Your grandfather would be so proud of what you all have accomplished. This house is going to be stronger and better than it was when it was brand new !!!
I am wondering if him being so very frugal as he was would have felt the cost justified. Look at how he worked on the house. Everything he did was done very economically. Not the best idea.
Fixing the attic first was a good choice, no matter what anybody says. It is about rain, sleet, and snow, birds and critters. This might seem like going backwards, but it is not. First, fix the roof. Then go to the basement. I expect somebody already told you this.
The blessing: you have tons of headroom in the attic to accommodate the raised flooring!!! The areas under the sloped roof lines are opportunities for enclosed storage or mechanical lines. The challenges are becoming innovative solutions!!!!! Great job!!!!
Like johnham8469, I've followed you for several years and I agree wholeheartedly with him about what a pleasure it is to watch you throughout this entire process. Even in the midst of ongoing construction, your home is beautiful! Your grandfather surly is smiling. His legacy will live on for decades or even centuries to come and bless all who enter. Thank you Cole.
It's really wonderful that you are able to incorporate video of house remodel during the very important and busy time on the Farm as you are required to cope with all the issues that comes from trying to get a crop in a timely manner. Thanks guys for all that you do helping to keep so many of us entertained 😄
I'll mention this again but you really should look at mini-split ceiling cassettes for each room. There' no duct work to work around and every room gets complete control of heating and cooling for a fraction of the running cost of a traditional HVAC systems. Couldn't be a better option for you.
True, 3 units with up to 8 outputs on each one to contribute to the whole house system, would have good zone heating and cooling control. Also need to be weighing the options of utility rebates, gas vs. electric. Those can make a significant imapct.
Cole reminded me of the old talking dog joke. Man walks into a promoter's office and says, I have a talking dog! Just watch. What's above our heads?" "Roof!" barked the dog. "What's sandpaper feel like?" "Ruff!" barked the dog. "Who was the best baseball player?" The dog barked, "Ruth!" The promoter threw them both out of the office. As they walked down the stairs the dog turns and says, "Maybe I should've said Dimaggio?"
It’s so fun watching you guys bring this beautiful house back to life. To raise brand new boys. Can’t wait for parts 2 and 3 to see it coming together even more!
Justin is a steady, experienced, get-it-done guy. You're definitely fortunate to have him along side you and Roman. And, things still are moving along as the fields get planted. Congratulations.
Sure. But it’s not the three stooges that is being remodeled. That house is a relic and it’s literally taking a full interior to get it right. I don’t care how they behave while doing it
Hey Cole, crazy idea for you: I know you get some pretty serious winters there, and you're probably familiar with boot dryers. What if you had a hot closet that would heat and dry your outer gear so that whenever you go outside, you're putting on a perfectly dry coat, gloves, scarf, etc. If the closet is dehumidified and kept around 90 degrees, that should work great.
WOW, alot has happened since the last time I watched your UA-cam. I like watching renovations and glad I came across your channel again. I remember when you did that work that you have to remove. Good luck and I'll enjoy see how things go
Cole, while you have everything accessible please spend the short amount of time and money on “hurricane hangers”. Your future self will thank you if a tornado ever rolls through.
Lots of progress ! It's a good thing you guys know the correct order in which to do all these things. You are lucky to have found two professionals to help you ! Great content, camera work and editing ! 👍 Looking forward to part 2 of the attic rebuild !
Just hearing you describe what's needed is exhausting. I can not imagine what this is costing. You are very fortunate to have Justin and Roman. Hope the farm work is in good shape.
Love watching the updates on your house. I've always liked Old houses. When I was growing up I lived in a house that was a 100 years old and now it would be over 20 some close to 30 some years old more
All of this series is why it is always cheaper and faster to tear down rebuild to make one look exactly like it. Yes, nostalgia. Yes, history but, that comes at a high price.
Wow Cole you're doing a great job! I was hoping you'd upgrade those attic ceiling joists to larger floor joists. I love the framing stage; it all looks good.

Mr. Roman is so very good with his descriptions and analysis of the work needed.
We know Roman kept lots of the scrap lumber to build a chicken mansion. Will we get to see it when it's finished?

If you are replacing floor joists, you should look in to floor trusses. You can run all your plumbing, HVAC, wiring inside them.

I can't imagine getting done with a day on the farm and going into working on a project this big. Hard worker you are Mr Cornstar.
Definitely a good idea to go with larger lumber and closer spacing. That attic floor will be very sturdy
I love the house renovation videos. The obstacles seem overwhelming but you ticked most of them off. Yay!
