Picked up a P16 at Xmas time. Very satisfied. Based upon heft/feel/build I would absolutely feel comfortable drawing this in an emergency.

I had a p16, its just far too lightweight to inflict attack stopping damage.

@@claro_oscuro That's what I thought. I'll buy the 23 so it won't be too small and not but not too big. thanks.

I carry a baton every day. I own several batons from "premium" brands including ASP. I'll be the first to tell you I would never carry an ASP baton because in my opinion they are garbage. They are built light so that they are easy to carry but the cost of this is that they are extremely inefficient if you use them. Most officiers or security personell dont use batons alot so while "ease of carry" somewhat makes sense, having comfortable foam grip that peels back and basically disintegrates on your belt makes no sense at all. No freaking way you work in an environment where you use your baton so frequently you need a soft foam padded grip that fall appart with use. It's a ploy to sell aftermarket products.
If you work in a profession where you can be expected to use one of these do yourself a favor and buy another brand: B&T, Bonowi, NEX, Monadnock etc. ASP seems to have no idea what they are doing and they have been lagging behind in design for years. If nothing else I think the fact that they sell 12" "agent" expandable baton should give you an idea how clueless they are about real world applications.

What about all the “air” weight NEX batons? They offer both options and even a walker series that comes in 12”? And used to also have a leather grip option… So they also have no idea what they are doing? I went down this rabbit hole since I frequently have to walk my dog at night and got sick of carrying a stick that felt useless. Im not worried about people but stray and wild animals are a real threat. I ordered an ASP agent 40 because of the lifetime warranty and based in the USA vs the NEX because china and their website is terrible and doesnt even give the specs like size and weight… have to go to other suppliers to get the weights… also they use the same part number and description for their air vs steel models. Smh… cant even handle the basics so made me skeptical off the bat. I wish there were solid recent reviews but honestly batons seem to have little to no interest on the net. I would never draw a baton on someone because chances are it would be lethal so why not just use other means…

The real way to chose an ASP.
    1) Ask your wife if you can buy one.
    2) Figure out how much money you will need, (ASP are not cheap)
    3) Find out if the ASP will fit in your current holder, (Wife only gave approval for new Baton- not new baton holder),
    4) Tell everyone you are getting a new ASP. -Everyone else uses S&W Batons....
    5) Figure out how many times you actually had a defective Baton,
    6) Think about how mant times you actually used your ASP Baton effectively.
    7) Realize a S&W costs half with same warranty and get a S&W instead.
    Been there.... :(

Why do cops even carry these anymore? Every video out there, they go from hands on, to firearm/taser. There is no in-between. They suck at breaking windows too.
