    You missed a few... First, there's the Horsethief Gulch Campground in the Spring Valley, at the Eagle Valley Reservoir. It's an awesome state park, 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Las Vegas, within walking distance to the water, with HOT SHOWERS!!! Second, not far from there is the Echo Canyon campground. It doesn't get as as many visitors and it's best visited in the spring. Third, there is Beaver Dam State park. It's about an hour from Calienti down a 30-mile dirt road. Very few people ever go there, but it's beautiful! And, there are trout in the stream that runs through it. These are all state parks and you can reserve spaces online. And of course, there is the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge with a big beautiful lake. It's first come, first served, but again, not many people go there. It's an odd thing actually living in Las Vegas that so few people ever get out of the city and explore what's available in the local area. I'd wouldn't consider Sedona and Joshua Tree to be local. You might as well talk about camping in Big Bear, CA. But hey, that's just me. :-) BTW, for those who are into backcountry offroading, it's worth checking out the Desert Pass Campground off the Mormon Wells Road, located in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge.

    Van? I traded my ford transit van in last year for my suv, had the van setup great, but it was so uncomfortable to drive I couldn't take a trip, unstable in the strong wind and not 4 wheel drive and still have to setup a screen tent outside.

    • @Kadenventures
      @Kadenventures 5 днів тому

      Good to know! We are very far from purchasing anything but for long trips like this (which we only do once a year) it has us thinking of alternatives to our current setup, a van makes most sense to us or a truck camper? but we definitely want to try it first to see how we like it

    I feel your pain on the constant set up and tear down. I have been trying to stream line my 4RUNNER camping set up, manage to make a little progress every now and then with near gear. I'm debating on a truck camper for my truck, thinking about a Slide In or Four Wheel Pop Up Camper! Can't make up my mind, I got a truck for either, just got to make a decision in the near future.

    • @Kadenventures
      @Kadenventures 5 днів тому

      If my truck was a full size I'd be torn between those 2 options as well lol Have you seen the pricing between the two, is one more expensive than the other? I'd love a Four Wheel pop up on my Frontier as an upgrade from the GFC especially for longer road trips like this, make it a bit more comfortable.

    • @MericanAdventures
      @MericanAdventures 5 днів тому

      @Kadenventures yeah, I got a GMC HD 3500 with a 3900 lbs payload, so I got options. The price is around the same for either option, around $45k for what I want. I like the 4 wheel camper as it weighs less and is more compact (I'm leaning towards this option), but a Lance Slide in has more amenities, but bigger and heavier. I do like the wet bath in a slide in, but I will option in the toilet and shower on a 4 wheel camper.

    • @Kadenventures
      @Kadenventures 5 днів тому

      @@MericanAdventures Nice! You definitely got some options with the 3500 lol one thing i'm always debating on as well between a 4 wheel camper vs slide in is the height, I think driving around with the 4 wheel camper would be a lot more convenient BUT you do have some setup for camp every night vs parking and having everything you need ready to go with a slide in. Also having hard walls vs the tent material around the camper may be better in windy conditions

    Do the compression latches on the back panel open from the inside? How do you lock up at night from inside?

      @Kadenventures 5 днів тому

      There is a way to lock yourself into the GFC at night, the latches have to be closed from the outside and then from the inside there is a latch you can push up and down to lock the panel, this is only for the back window though (window above the tailgate). The side panels would need to be locked with a key to lock them up. Thanks for watching Arthur!

    Fellow Nevadian with a frontier checking in 🤙🏼 love your videos and rig hopefully i can get my truck with similar gear to you one day. Pro Chef tip if you quick marinate (30 minutes) the beef in a splash of soy, Chinese cooking wine, corn starch, and a pinch of baking soda. It will make the meat super tender, and the starch will make your sauce thicker. Baking soda will also make the meat “larger” 😂 old Chinese velveting method
