Hot Springs CAMPING 90 Minutes from Las Vegas?!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 кві 2023
- This weekend we hit the road 90 minutes from Las Vegas to a little unincorporated town called Tecopa California. You probably have never heard of this small, rural town where the only grocery store is about an hour drive away but it boasts some of the best hot springs near Vegas, local breweries, and one of the coolest Date Farms we’ve ever seen (a real Oasis in the desert!).
The Date farm is definitely a must see with a great drive down into the farm and make sure to try out one of their Date Shakes as you check out the cool and quirky items in the giftshop!
We truck camp at a local campground so we can take advantage of some private hot spring baths at a discount (usually $20 an hour but if your camping at the campground its only $10). But an overnight stay at the campground is $23/night.

I LOVE that place. One big tip for your viewers. If you go during the summer, beware the big black and yellow flies that will attack you as soon as you get out of your vehicle. When they bite, it really hurts, and you'll have that little sore on your arm, or wherever, for a few weeks. It's much, much better to go in cooler weather. But if you go in the hottest months, wear long pants and long sleeves. As the guy at the counter at the China Ranch Date Farm said to me recently, "Those flies will dominate for the next three months."
Good to know! Are those Tarantula Hawks?? I think we saw one or 2 while we were out there.... my wife was freaking out lmao but it was essentially a BIG fly that looked like a bee hybrid or some sort lol
@@Kadenventures I forget the name of the thing. They have an 8x10 picture of one with the name of it, hanging behind the counter in the store.
When I went for a hike on one of the trails, the first people I saw were wearing long sleeve, long pants, and cloth around their necks. I thought that was bizarre in 95 degree heat. Then I learned it was to protect themselves against bites.
@@geezerpleasers_OG Good to know for the future lol
awesome. Always wanted to check out Tecopa. Driven past it going out to Dumont in the past. Now I need to go
Definitely check it out it’s a fun spot! Thanks for watching 🤙🏽
Hey Kaden I love all the camping content man. Great stuff. I new to camping in Vegas and now making plans for the cooler fall and. Colder weather.
Glad you enjoy the content! There is always somewhere to camp around here, places to escape the heat in the summer or find warmer temps in the winter 👌🏽 thanks for watching!
I'm glad I found your channel! Me and my gf love exploring and my plan is to hit up more local spots to Vegas this year. I'm newer to the area. Your set up is great too btw. I'm still tenting it but thinking about a small teardrop camper. Thanks for the video!
Glad you found the channel! My wife and I moved out here in 2020 and have been loving the location! Easy to go somewhere anytime of the year! Tent camping or tear drop as long as you get out there, Let me know if you guys ever need any suggestions, cheers!
Pulls out dirty knife " I didn't clean this since last time I used it " 😆 that's the most realest thing hahaha thanks for keeping that in
lol! Glad I kept it in, appreciate the feedback! Thanks for watching!!
great video brother! sweet set-up you have.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
FAMILY TRIP!! 👏 Hi to C&R too! Rio: "I like pizza!" That was fun!! I know I've said it before but you eat like royalty out there! 👍 Thanks for taking us along, Kaden Fam!
lol Thanks Suz! I told you a family trip was in the works :) Thanks for watching!
Perfect setup!!!
Thank you!! It’s been a fun upgrade 🤙🏽
Checking out your gear and I'm like "Yup, got that, got that" 😂😂😂
lol Awesome! Thanks for watching Mundos!
@@Kadenventures You bet. Maybe one day I'll ran into you at Mt Charleston 😂
@@exploringMundos for sure lol it’s almost that time of the year for summer trips out there!
Throw the rolled up burrito back on the skillet to nicely brown it.
That is what we regularly do, love how crip it gets, Thanks for watching!
Great video. Enjoyed seeing the Date farm and shakes! Nice 270 awning too!
Glad you enjoyed it! We were surprised by the date farm we had a blast! Thanks for watching Robert!
That place looks pretty cool. I enjoy your videos. What floor mat is that? I like the size of it
Glad you enjoy the content! This is a 5x8 RV rug we bought from Walmart and didnt break the bank, folds down easy and doesnt weigh much we can just throw it in the back of the truck on top of everything else www.walmart.com/ip/Outdoor-Rugs-5-x-8-Waterproof-Reversible-Plastic-Straw-Rug-Carpet-Outdoor-Patio-Rug-for-RV-Camping-Backyard-Deck-Picnic/2353256405
Tocopa also has a natural hot spring on the side of the road that is also awesome. Shashone is also a few miles away that has a cool cafe and old mining homes carved out of limestone. Just a overall cool place to visit. Great video
I saw that hotspring on iOverlander! Hopfulyl we can check out Shashone next trip, I saw it on the map but we ran out of time this day. Luckily its not too far of a drive so i'm sure we will be back! Thanks for watching man!
Definitely! You always give me new ideas when wanting to camp somewhere new especially close to Vegas. So many hidden gems. Keep up the great work 🫡
@@Donnycamps_TheNation Thanks man!! Appreciate it
Another great video. Loved the date farm! If you ever have a long weekend and want to go hot springing, Idaho rocks the hots! Tons of springs in roadside rivers or short trails to them. Petty and public!
Thanks DJ! Where in Idaho do you recommend would be your best bang for hot springs? We may be doing a long roadtrip north toward Boise Idaho or surrounding area in the summer, possibly late June or early July
I had to google what a Geode is 🤣Looked like some awesome food man. Can't wait for the next one!!
I never knew they were just sold in shops like this until then lol! Pretty fun though, thanks for watching man glad you enjoyed it!
Check all roads around that area
Many are closed after the summer storms
Wonderhussy did a big video on the road closures late September early October 2023
Check out roads before venturing out
Definitely check road conditions before heading out there! This video was taken earlier in the year before all the storms messed up the area. Whats funny is after we visited this area, we started getting Wonderhussy's videos as recommendations lol! We love watching her content, shes a good story teller. Thanks for watching!
I eat so many dates nowadays. They're so tasty and pretty good for you. I get mine at sprouts
Same! We love em for something sweet after a meal lol We get ours from Sprouts too or Trader Joes! Thanks for watching Jerel!
I like that little pump for your water. Take it easy Thor!!! ahaha. I just went to Death Valley yesterday and wanted to check out the surrounding area, cool that the place it near Vegas for those quick trips! Great vid man!
Thanks Skoty! Hope you had a good time in DV! We were hoping to make it out there this season but I think the heat beat us to it lol hopfully next season though! What was your favorite stop in Death Valley??
Death Valley is definitely a must when you come out here one day! The landscape is so awesome and unlike anything i've ever seen
@@Kadenventures Dantes View... i been to DV probably 6x now and that was the first time up there. Its a spectacular view for sure and its 10deg cooler up at the top. only thing is the salt mostly washed away from Badwater. Looking at it from Dantes i thought it looked strange as i have been to Badwater many times. Actually at the basin confirmed the recent flood washed alot of the salt in the Furnace Creek direction and spread it all out over that flat area.
@@swyoung69 good to know man we’ve seen a lot out there but still haven’t been out to Dante’s view yet so I’ll be sure to add that to the list next time we head out there 🤙🏽🤙🏽
@@Kadenventures yeah i skipped it so many times, but its on the must do everytime list now. its a short 20min drive from the main.
Looks like some dope places yall went to! Where did you get that griddle for the Coleman stove? I needs one of those!
It was a griddle we bought from Costco, pretty cheap like $20 or so. I'm not sure if Costco still sells it but its from a company called Rock Pro - its a reversible grill top so there is a smooth and grill side: amzn.to/3LtHG0l
@@Kadenventures Hells yea thanks bro!
What are those plastic totes you’re using to store your camp gear? They look rugged
Hey Paul, I got the clear tote from the Container store (Box from Container store: www.containerstore.com/s/clear-weathertight-trunk/d?q=weatherproof&productId=10024301) lol Its weatherproof so Dust and waterproof and solid for standing on top of it. The blank tote is from Plano which is also weatherproof!
I go into details about both of these here:

Truck Box (black Plano case): ua-cam.com/video/AjCtybdUbkA/v-deo.html
Hey how much does the GFC drip your MPG?
Thanks for your personable vids!
I'd say about 13 MPG, prior to that I believe we'd get 16/17 MPG so about 2/3 miles less
@@Kadenventures thank you
That's a really kewl camper, what is it called; do you know if they make one for a 6ft box?
Its called a Go Fast Camper, they do make it for 6ft beds but it depends on the model - full list here: gofastcampers.com/pages/supported-vehicles
@@Kadenventures thanks Kaden dude
@@homelessnomad101 No problem! Cheers!
I live about 20 minutes away
Thats awesome! How do you like living out there?
There's a free hot spring about 3 or 4 hundred yards from ya, stay safe
I saw that on the map! and I think we drove by some folks parked on the side of the road for what looked like a hot spot on the side but we didnt stop and check it out. We will next though, thank you!
There are actually two free ones within a few hundred yards please stay safe
You guys missed the labyrinth!!! 😢
Didnt even know that was a thing out there!!
@@Kadenventures it’s above the camping area. There are big blue pots around the edge of it you can see from below.
@@yayaelvis3270 aw we will have to check that out next time were out there! Thank you!
@@Kadenventures I just learned it’s called the Yaga Labyrinth.
