Such a tragedy
The tragedy of this show is not they not get to be in the big chair, but that they never get along in the end.
Wow, the end being unscripted is so impressive. Masterful work by Snook and McFadyen
Logan was amazing but Shiv owned that scene the range of emotions she had to convey in such a short time.
🤗 Actually it was director Mark Mylod and Sarah Snook's idea to shoot this ending! You can watch an analysis with comments from writer and showrunner, Jesse Armstrong, and the director here: ua-cam.com/video/WWCUwz5SNTQ/v-deo.html Hope you find it useful! 😉
Judas betrays with a kiss
Him looming over her while she has that shocked, realizing look and the music and scene cuts at that final moment is so perfect that I would've believed you if you had told me it was the only part in the last 45 seconds actually on paper.
For it to not even be in the script is wild. The camera caught lightning in a bottle and chose to end the entire season on it.
I thought it was scripted, but the shot wasn't going to be as long, but no one said cut when Tom came in so they kept acting their ass off.
its amazing how much of the performances are interpreted by the actors and not always specified anywhere in the script.
@@gezenews pretty sure rubix cubes are for one person to solve that doesn’t make any sense
@@gezenews I critiqued your analogy because I don't wanna engage in an argument, you came at my comment like it was some grievance I had with the film making process, but I was just saying I found it interesting because I didn't know before. 180 other people saw it that way and didn't feel the need to cynically explain acting to me.
@@gezenews "The rubix cube solved itself magically" made no fucking sense so I said it made no sense. You're the one who responded because I hurt your feelings. Also nobody says "smoothbrain" or "internet points" anymore 🤣. You keep thinking I'm avoiding your main point because I have no clue what your point is, it's like you made up something to be critical of in my original comment.
Maybe the director tell them how to do it or at least guide them.
True. But let's give some credit to the directors too. Sometimes, some ideas just pop up to you on set that isn't in the script
That "Dad, why" from Roman always kills me. He is often just the weird comedic relief but there we get to see so much more, one of the very few times we see very deep into the character without all the layers of humor and sarcasm
All the acting in this show is amazing, but now having finished the show I think Kieran's was my favorite portrayal. So many different sides to a very weird and broken character that could have just been 1-2 dimensional.
times like that you see how he’s still stuck in that childhood fear of logan
@@tinawexler6547 Kieran, in the final season, becomes the emotional heart of the show, as his vulnerability starts to come through. He is the only one of the three siblings who attains any real form of self-awareness.
I think it also effect Kieran personally because the father of the Culkins is abusive to his children. He forced all of his kids to have acting careers because he wanted to be an actor himself but he couldn't because he has an injury. And the one who suffer the most is Macaulay and even when he grows up, Macaulay became a drug addict but thankfully, he recovers and has a family with Brenda Song (London from Suite Life of Zach and Cody)
I don't know much about Kieran whether he's suffered like his brother on his adulthood but looks like the guy is doing pretty well.
rewatching this i absolutely love gerri's "but it doesn't serve my interests. how does it serve my interests?" roman's face afterwards just says it all. this constant cycle of finally finding connection, feeling a spark of hope, believing that for once, despite a lifetime of evidence to the contrary, kindness or history or love might make a difference, but of course it doesn't, and everything fails, is so central to the show. such incredible writing.
Always been impressed with how much of this show is improvised/off-script. That’s incredibly rare for a drama and requires a lot of trust in the actors. Such a talented team, all around.
“broken but together”. reminds me of this line from bojack: "all three of us were drowning, and we didn't know how to save each other, but there was an understanding that we were all drowning together.”
truly nothing can capture the roy siblings like that, jfc.
That captures the very end.
This is a GREAT tie in comparison. Well freaking done.🙏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👌🏽
Bojack is another masterpiece that wore a dark-comedy coat while harboring some of the best written drama on TV
I love Bojack Horseman.
Nevertheless, I wouldn't watch it again.
Such a sad, draining show.
The shot of Logan patting Tom on the shoulder through the doorway was akin to the final scene of The Godfather where Kay sees Michael . So powerful
“roman is falling to pieces” AAAHAHHHHHEJEKRHEOEHR
Logan mocking Shiv "oh well no because you need a supermajority da boo ya bee" is more brutal than when he smacked Roman in the mouth
Shiv's expression when she says "hey" to Wamsgans...
I love the way the action lines are written. It's like the general feeling of the room rather than mise en scene
Production value, brother. Production value. Same exact thing except you won't sound like you just got out of FS101
What's mis-en-scène?
@@Winter-Alpha-Omega everything that appears in any given frame of any scene
Ohhhhh boy does that ''Tom takes it. Can anyone see?' sink in quite differently today... doesn't it??
So crazy to see how Logan really feels about all his kids all at once. He’s usually manipulating one of them so he’s a little kinder to them then the others but now that he has no use for them he shows them all who he really truly is.
i thought he actually was too lenient with them.

I don't know how watching these clips make the show so much more powerful. It's like you don't even notice when you're watching. You just know that you can't look away. And then when you watch the scenes in isolation it just hits you how good these set pieces are and how much they advance character and story without using exposition to flesh out the characters. Such a masterful melding of superb writing and perfect casting with superb performances
Absolutely. You 100% nailed it. My feelings exactly. It's a masterpiece
I'm not a serious person lol, just my RING TONE is Sussession ! Reminds me to behave and say Logans fav two words "F - OFF"
Superb drama series !!
love the way kendall replicates the stance of support roman showed for him from earlier in the ep when kendall confesses
i never made the connection
Been rewatching the show lately, and one thing I love here is that Logan's not actually mad that his kids are trying to stop the deal - he's furious that they're so unbelievably bad at it. He has constantly wanted one of the siblings to step up and show him that they're "a killer," and if they had come in her with an ironclad, cutthroat plan to halt the deal, screw over Matteson and wrest control of the company, he'd be angry, but he wouldn't mock them like this. But relying on a supermajority - a *gift* that they were given by their mother and father via divorce settlement - is an affront to everything Logan tells himself he believes in. Phenomenal scene.
I'm sickened to my stomach just how much this scene laid out how the series would end, and we had no fucking idea whatsoever. In that, we are the pedestrians.
Their acting skills are top tiers. My heart broke and went emotional every time I saw this scene
In the script it says “Kendall walks right up to Logan and eyeballs him direct. Logan meets the gaze as he passes” I do wish we would have gotten that
Broken but together.
That mimicking was just....BRUTAL.
Broken but together is such a good line
Without a doubt, this is my favourite episode of the entire series.
Oh my god, looking back at this scene after watching the end…it has so much more meaning.
one of the kids even said it in the funeral episode, I think it was shiv, she talks about when they were kids playing outside his office and making a lot of noise, I think that's all of the siblings storylines is about and how they never really grew up as for them they internalize nothing and just keep on playing in their playground their father made for them and want to keep for themselves
Holly shit I didn't even think about how Tom fucked them in this ep and in the end ended up taking the CEO chair 🤯
Middle to bottom of the top and then the top
@@MBro3 Tom wins in every season finale. Marries Shiv in 1. Eats Logans chicken in 2. Fucks the kids for Logan in 3. Becomes ceo in 4.

this is hands down my favorite scene in the show
This shows how much children depend on their mom in this scene
This is GREAT. I can't get enough of the details of how they make this meticulous show seem so natural.
Thank you!!
3:32 "Watch this. You can actually pinpoint the second when his heart rips in half."
"Love" isn't a desirable weapon to kill who you love...
one of the few times that sincere love is mentioned by the siblings, only to be dismissed by Logan. God how i feel for those poor grown children
Wow their mother...that must hurt.
What performances. What direction. All punctuated by the brilliant score. Fuckin hell, Nicholas Britell...
Wow..the music comes in at such a perfect time.

Interesting how Shiv kind of *SPOILERS*

Incredible writing incredible acting.
pretty cool, thanks for uploading!
Logan Roy always wins. They should have realized that by now especially Kendall.
A great lesson! Thanks!
Brian Cox elevated every line.
One of my favorite scenes in any show and not even the best scene in the series (debatably). Far better than the other bells episode lol

Did they cut Roman's "I trust you, I fucking like you" line from the show or was that edit for UA-cam? Interesting if it was in the show like that, because Gerri's line "But how does it serve my interests" comes out of nowhere..
Its like the Waystar training video all over again
WOW. just wow. incredible. all of them. every single one of them.
Sarah Snook's accent slipped out a bit at 1:37
Still well acted. Sometimes I wonder how this show would be like if they all used their natural accents XD
Roman @2:49 made me cry
Quite possibly the actors said the missing lines of dialogue but those bits were cut. This scene has a lot of cuts back and forth.
You can absolutely tell they cut the lines after the fact. Roman's face during the Gerri conversation says it better than words ever could.
@@MegaGamer1006 Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Some of the lines did not match the expressions that were on the actors' faces.

While Logan was an awful person, I think the mom was as close to the second most awful. Her total disconnect from her kids was heartbreaking to see

i love how roman doesn't point out that gerri is shiv's godmother in the final version, i like to think that it is him seeing her as a person he is really attached to and the on he can trust enough and so he doesn't even think of that argument. absolutely heartbreaking and kieran is also killing it with just his mimics and body language, all the awards 100% deserved

@@xxwhispersxx2856 but it's true, and it goes both ways.
the script reads as something very monotonous, but the plot has a lot of layers and nuance, wich ultimatly works to make a great show. since the script is flexible enough to allow sublte interpretation, and the actors are good enough to make it into something intense and unique the final result is something that, togerther with a stellar intro song, cahotic camerawork and wonderful camera quality, just... works. everything has a thought behind and it's a really unique show because of it!

Logan loved Tom
When I saw the final scene of this episode I was like “of course Shiv will hand over the CEO position to Tom and fuck over Kendall.”
Well watching it again, even if no one had alerted Logan, they had a bad hand anyway: Logan would know they will oppose it. He simply eliminated that at the perfect timing so there won't be any room left for negotiation. They were simply rich kids walked in when their parents cashing out.
The best episode of the entire show🎉🎉😂😂. Logan is King👑
I know people who twist the knife like Tom did.
Good for him, shiv is the worst character on the show and deserves nothing
@@maxgamesst1 What show are you watching? lmao
@@samg6940 it's called succession and it's what this clip is from. Shiv cheats on her husband, manipulates him, manipulates her brothers, is bitchy, incompetent and annoying
I don't follow Succession at all, but based on the Breaking Bad precedent, when men call a female protagonist "bitchy" it's generally a sign that she's the most reasonable person in the scene.
@dsch0 no, all the characters are of extremely poor character. Bitchy would describe her well, and would fit all the male characters as well. Her character or any of the protagonist characters for that matter would make you think the word reasonable when describing them. The comment you read listed 4 other traits besides bitchy that describe her character in a negative way, what makes you think she's not bitchy. Maybe you just don't like that word as it pertains to females. However the character is designed to be bitchy... all the characters are designed to be a$$h0les of sorts. All the characters are reprehensible and irredeemable, yet they all have just enough positive traits that make you root for them.
Without Shiv this series will be lowkey boring

Now that the show's ended, I feel more confident in my stance that Caroline was the most vile, irredeemable character out of a line-up of vile, irredeemable characters. Simply the worst.
She’s the meanest and scariest. The reason Connor is somewhat of a more well adjusted person is he had a different mother.
Lmao u r acting like Logan doesnt exist
I love how Ken didn’t say a goddamn thing and was totally useless. 🤣
was this rehearsal? looks like rehearsal
can someone explain the context of this scene
we clearly get a clue that Tom is the choosen one !
Nero pushed his pregnant wife down the stairs, castrated Sporus and married him instead
This may be embarrassing but what was the divorce agreement and how did she fucked over her kids?
Essentially the agreement was the kids were allowed to say no to gojo buying them out. They talked it out, and the deal is now off
I believe their mother, as part of the divorce agreement, made sure their share had voting stock so the kids would have a say. However, the moms new husband really wanted an apartment in London that Logan had (and maybe some other things), so in exchange for that, the mom traded in their voting shares for non-voting ones, since she’s still the owner of the trust that gives the kids their shares in the first place, essentially killing the kids attempt to stop the vote on the GoJo merger
@@mino-taur So how do the kids have voting shares again in S4?
@@brianlevor6295 while they lost their voting shares for non-voting shares, they still retained their seats in the Board of Directors. The things they did in S4 was in their powers as the Board of Directors. Board of Directors are "elected" by shareholders (although if someone controls enough shares like Logan, its effectively a coronation).
Not to mention, being on the board of directors along with Sandy and Stewy's possible support of their voting shares gives them effective control, IF they worked together.

All this time I never clocked Tom was the one who told on them... i feel stupid
I literally have to rewatch episodes to catch all the subtext and behind the scene manipulations. When I first watched it I thought Shiv was the hero and most things were directly stated. So much in this show is done purely through body language and small gestures or eye contact. Like a completely different plot in the background of the actual dialogue.
You have to be super attentive to how the camera moves in this show. The way it moves to Shiv noticing the pat on the back from Logan to Tom tells you everything.
