@@samanthapalker1476same here. I feel like I’m hopeless at learning languages even though I used to be a Rosetta Stone coach with access to all those resources. I did speak German conversationally, but I lost it. I just suck at foreign languages. I’m going to try for Korean though. Haven’t started yet because I’m intimidated as hell.

Legitimately, I find her to be so empowering and inspiring. I was in a horribly abusive relationship but I got out. He stalked me for quite a while and I got rid of my presence online completely. And then once i started getting my life back on track, I got cancer. It’s so hard to have that hope or that drive to keep going. She’s certainly someone inspiring. It gives me a bit more light to look at.

I broke my back, ankle and wrist and needed multiple surgeries to get metal plates put in. Knowing my partner was there and would continue to be there for me was the only thing that kept me sane during that time. You really do leave your dignity at the door when you enter hospital with a spinal injury, and it takes a long time to get it back. My ex-husband did similar things when we first met. He pursued me with such dogged determination that I lost sight of things. I was in my early 20s when that kind of attention and declarations of love were very alien to me. I took him for simply being overly passionate and loving. One year into our relationship, he'd managed to isolate me and was becoming increasing jealous and controlling. Then the physical abuse started. At first it was just a push, then shaking me violently, to slapping and punching me. I tried to leave, but with a million apologies and some serious love-bombing, he'd convince me that his temper issues could only be changed if I'd agree to be more patient with him and help him. He claimed that he wouldn't be able to live his life without me. Four years later, after numerous attempts to leave and one final episode when he knocked me unconscious, I finally escaped.
EDIT: Please be careful when someone comes on too strongly in the beginning. It's a huge red flag that mustn't be ignored. True, healthy love takes time to develop. It's never obsessive, controlling, or over-the-top.

These are red flags 🚩: of the behaviour of a classic narcissist.
Their job is : to manipulate / control / make yr life miserable ! If possible - to destroy you - emotionally / financially/ mentally & also physically .
Love bombing : then find fault : controlling tactics of silent treatment / gas lighting / verbal abuse / narcissistic rage 😡 ( if you confront them ), lastly : discard you to find new narcissistic supply.
This is because these men / women had wounds in their growing years which they failed to deal with.
So if you can accept it :. They are filled with the spirit of Jezebel : demons of rage, anger, unforgiveness, hatred etc.
Run 🏃‍♀️: when you encounter such ppl. Block / banned / change your number : or even city…

I agree pressuring someone to marry isnt right. But what I got from the story is be careful who you decide to marry. Marriage isn't the problem. It's who you choose to marry that's the problem. People can be deceptive. People don't take the time to discover the character of the person they are dating before making any commitment. Most people don't have principles they just go along with their feelings. The goal of "dating" before marriage is to try and find the "real" person behind the public face that people show. But sadly, many people overlook that and only find themselves in trouble. It's not good to go on just what a person says. How long did she know him before she (Ning) decided to marry? Because it can take 1 to 2 years to truly know someone. Did she not speak to anyone about him? Before marriage the goal is to investigate the person because it's one of the most important decision a person can make. When she said, "the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree" is important information. If you want to know what kind of person you're going to marry pay close attention the the parents and that will give some insight since they have been the one to raise their child for over +20 years.

In my experience, most people will not warn or intervene when they see a very very toxic, abusive relationship.
My mother knew about my boyfriend's sexually assaulting me and would basically just shrug it off. I showed her how one made me bleed and she couldn't have cared less. If I fought with my abusive boyfriends, she would ask me what I did wrong.
It took me until I was lower than rock bottom, single mom of two, with nothing until I realized that what I was experiencing wasn't normal or alright. I was 25.
Not everyone's normal is the same normal. I sought help multiple times throughout my youth. No one helped. Abusive narcissists tend to sully the names and credibility of those they're abusing in order to control the narrative. They're so good at what they do, you don't even realize you're drowning in the cage they've built around you.
Healthy people felt like fire to me. I couldn't be around them because I didn't want to corrupt them with my worthlessness.
It took me a long time to find my feet, and I was able to do so because of a handful of people who taught me to love and accept love and go towards love. Once I had that new normal, everything I had done to survive seemed like an entirely different person from me.

First, thank you for the great storytelling! But there is actually a detail I think is missing in the video. Ming says, her ex-husband relaxed after she pretended submissive in front of Thai police, then she got the chance to persuade him to let her use her phone. She got to call one of her friends in China, who later flew to Thai and visited her in the hospital. Her friend had a chance recording their conversation on her phone, in which the ex-husband orally admitted that he pushed her off the cliff. Ming says this recording became the ONLY evidence that proved him committing the crime.
😢Ming’s story is no news on Chinese social media, but every time i hear about it i will just feel horrible for her and be touched by her spirits. “Bad things do happen to good people at times.”

The part about further investigation after the doctor restricted the ex-husband’s visiting time is also breathtaking. After Ming told the doctor what happened, the doctor called the police. This time, Thai police officers were smart enough to not make the ex-husband alarmed. So they had to wear normal clothes, not uniforms, and pretend they were families of other patient in the ICU. Because they wanted to take notes of everything Ming said depicting the crime, they came several days and recorded everything while Ming was still in bed hospitalized. After that, Thai police finally got the warrant of arrest to take him away.

She had everything, lots of money, wealth etc, but she still needed a man. A man who didn't want her, a bad guy who used her for money, a gambler who squandered $150,000 from her account. She ignored the obvious major flaws, consistent patterns of dishonesty, reckless behaviour and lack of appreciation. Most probably she was enjoying the drama and wayward behaviour, tending to a man-child and feeling responsible. Meanwhile the guy was planning to eliminate her, get access to her wealth and marry a poor submissive girl. The lesson here is that we must be responsible for our choices, and not cry foul when things go South. Seeking sympathy and true love only when your body is broken into pieces is too late. If you gonna marry a whore, deal with it and take your bullets quietly. This guy was a man-whore and she ignored all obvious signs. When I date a good looking female whore, I know she is not marriage material, it's only for fun and temporary pleasure. I know how to keep her at arms length. There are boundaries and certainly no commitment nor trust. The bottomline is you must read and take people for what they are. If someone is an untrustworthy piece of shit, accept the truth, don't bury your head in the sand like an ostrich. Yes, I do enjoy banging whores with big busts and ass, but I don't trust them. I use my brain, I think. I won't leave them alone at my house and they won't sleep over at my place. I treat them like whores. Period. I know the type of woman I can trust and marry.

The police were suspicious from the beginning. Just recently, believe it or not, the Thai High court first gave him a life sentence. Then changed it to 10 years. Then moved it up to 33 years a few months ago. .. I am an American living in Thailand now 10 years. I remember this well. I am in Udonthani, also in NE Thailand. The sentencing has me confused as hell.

I had to verify those sentences. As far as I can tell, he had a 2nd trial, his sentence was reduced to 10 years. Then she made some sort of appeal, ( and this was within the last 2 months or so) and it was increased to 33 years and 4 months. She was able to tell the police after 4 or 5 days the truth, and 7 days after he tried to murder her, Thai police arrested him. For the most part, Thailand is NOT a good place to be a foreigner and commit ANY kind of crime. It REALLY pisses Thais off and they want to lock people up. To top it off, a Thai prison aint a cake walk. I wa arrested once years ago after a car accident, but was free within 8 hours. I was alone in a filthy cell. While there I cleaned the cell, and the police were all smiles when I left. They watched as I sang to myself, and cleaned the cell. The cell was just filthy. Empty water bottles everywhere.....they did get a kick outta this American cleaning their cell!

I still don't have money to build my own family, nevertheless to pay for my own sh*t. But they keep saying women are "worthless" after we passed 30 and women age rapidly. What a load of bs. My 34-yo*ish cousin was forced to get married by her mother, she's not happy with her life now but she pretended to because she has a bus called "wife and daughter's duty" and now she's pregnant because AGAIN, her mom and her mother-in-law forced her to give birth ASAP because AGAIN, women beyond their 30 are already expired. I hate this kind of bs... Whenever my mom told me about this bs, I told her about this kind of news. Marriage doesn't guarantee you to have a perfect life! Why they can open their dead brains to see what is the reality?? Also, I hate how they keep saying women like some kind of worthless being! What makes me want to punch their guts too is they keep saying that we, the women, should keep looking for a perfect men, they should have a house, a car, a good career, a good education background, bla bla and we should be QUICK to find it, HOW DO WE SUPPOSED TO GET THAT KIND OF K-DRAMA PRINCE IN THIS REAL WORLD WITH THIS ECONOMY??? THEY EVEN MARRIED TO A PEASANT (not literally, but they imagine a prince and they couldn't get it, so I used this word to describe the opposite. Apologise if I hurt someone's feeling)!! When I listened to what Stephanie said, I took a really really deep breath. Poor poor Ning (or Ming?). I think she will be happier if her parents didn't force her and make a constant reminder that SHE'S A WOMAN IN HER 30S and let her find her own soulmate NATURALLY.

Yeah. And when she showed she was still able to push back by reporting him to the police, he slipped straight back into "love-bomb until I can close the next trap on her and it won't matter anymore." I've thankfully never been in a relationship anything like this, but I was once close to someone who was really manipulative like that, and I got this horrible flashback to that when he started being nice again. Always in my experience that was just the lead up to things getting worse.

I witnessed a similar behaviour (albeit much milder, obviously) from my stepfather. Was somewhat of a goofster before getting married, but still had a job, did some chores, planned to be a parent. We used to joke he was a bit like me - kind of lazy, liked to play videogames and read stuff, not Always remembering what he had to do (I was maybe 12 or so; looking back, it was definitely a red flag to a 40 year old man to be similar to me). But it wasn't too bad.
My mother married him and he started to laze down; they argued more; more and more would he lay on the sofa just paying videogames when my mother would cook and clean and build and ho shopping. After the birth of the kids, he would go on long trips for work to earn some money. For about half a year.
Then it's like he realized she can't escape anymore. He stopped doing things completely, he stopped doing any help, my mom would ask him to do anything and he'd get annoyed. He didn't want to have anything to do with the kids. Told her she was the one who wanted them (it was him first). Started gaslighting her like crazy. Once told me to go on a walk with the kids with 38°(100f) fever because it'd be "beneficial" for me and then pretended he never said anything and we're collectively misremembering anything, but that did not work on me because I stopped living with them and wasn't so easy to manipulate. But he would always make her the hysterical one, the "too much" one, the nagging one, the unstable one... He was purposefully driving her insane.
Started beating up furniture and call my mother a b*tch if he had to even lift a finger. Then tried to threaten me with "I can make your life in this house way, way, way worse" when I asked him to get out the trash late into the night for the fifth time because I was scared to go out by myself. At some point he just slapped her when she tried to argue with him and told her he's a man. I asked him once why he doesn't do anything and plays throughout it when he clearly sees she's struggling and is clearly on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and he just said "oh, I'd kms if I was her. But she's a good horse" and that's when it hit me.
And the worst part? There's not much to do. There's no one who could help her. We didn't have any family members or friends who could help in case things go south. There was no support system. There was nowhere to go. It was horrid to be with him, but without him would probably be even worse.
Sorry for such a long rant. The case really reminded me of all that until it started going to stealing, attempted m*rder etc.

6:09 my boyfriend said that his ex-wife used to look at him with just such hatred, starting not long after their marriage. She ended up cheating on him and he found out through his 6 year old daughter.
I’ve never been looked at like that thankfully so I wasn’t really sure what he meant, but it seems that she left him with a lot of trauma.
He is always talking about how I look at him so lovingly, and how he’s not used to that and all I can think is “how can somebody marry someone so sweet and yet end up hating them so much? Of course I look at him lovingly, I wouldn’t be with him if I didn’t love him!”
But the more I get to hear about the kind of things she put him through, the more I begin to realize that it wasn’t him she hated, it was herself. She hated what he represented, and he represented everything she wished she could be. So because she couldn’t be like
him, or even be worthy of such a wonderful husband, she used his talent and people skills to launch herself forward to where she wanted to be. She convinced him to pay off all her debt, she used him to get better jobs, she used him to make friends and she used his family for every little thing she needed. In the meantime she used her awful personality to tear him down, cheat on him, divorce him and take all his money. She felt so entitled to everything that was his, that she even called him to yell at him about the fact her insurance was canceled after the divorce, as if she thought he was still supposed to pay for her insurance even though SHE’S the one who left! He had to convince her that he wasn’t the one that took her off, but that that’s what automatically happens when you get divorced, so ultimately it was her fault she didn’t have insurance.
Now, after 2 years of us being together, he still has some physical scars from her, but the mental wounds are finally starting to heal. He used to wake up out of dead sleep to profusely apologize for bumping his leg against mine. He used to apologize for EVERYTHING and sometimes i still have to catch him and tell him that he has no need to apologize. I can’t imagine what poor Ning went through, and I hope she experiences her own true healing, away from monsters like this. I’m sure my boyfriend’s ex wife could have done so much more damage to him if he was the woman and she was the man, i’m glad she never tried to kill him or anything, I don’t think she’d go that far, but she definitely left him as a hollow shell of his former self. I’m doing my best to help build him back up to the glory I know he is capable of.
I hope Ning finds someone to help her do the same, whether a new love, or even just a new friend. It’s so tough to go through things like this when you feel so scared and alone.

Listening to this on Spotify, i rewinded several times to be sure i really heard right. This is one of the scariest thing that can happen to anyone (irrespective of gender). For a person to have their life all figured out, only for an entitled, lazy and opportunist to come and destroy your life is so scary.
I believe because she hadn't been in the dating scene, she didn't see the red flags. Maybe she did but shook it off several times that it was normal. These are reason's why we should trust our insicts.
I am of the believe that the husband's mother enabled him in so many ways.
Imagine if that woman didnt find her, she would have died and that SOB would have gone on to become rich, blowing away all this woman's hard earned money. Sometimes, i wonder how people can sleep knowing very well how they caused a fellow being harm.
