19:18 this is absolutely game changing. imagine how many variations and iterations you can do with just attractor. slap some random noise and you have renders for days
this is amazing. ive always had trouble with simulations. just booted this up and duplicated your results in a few clicks. what a brilliant overhaul, thanks Maxon.
EJ you are a magician! Thank you, thank you, thank you! The field force as an attractor usage literally saved me hours. Before that I was using a regular attractor and it was sucking everything like a black hole. I had to keyframe the "enable" option when the objects start colliding in order not to crash cinema 4d.
Fantastic presentation, School of Motion👍 Looks really awesome🔥 Appreciate the visit, thanks so much! Have a wonderful Saturday , Friend 🥰 Keep up the marvelous work!
EJ makes almost any subject he is taking about sound appealing and exciting. One of my favorite presenters, and Maxon Certified Trainer - EJ Hassenfratz.
Amazing update to cloth. I am surprised you didn’t address one of the biggest fails of the previous cloth… using on characters. That was always a problem that forced people to find workarounds.
Looks awesome, I'm really excited for fluids though. I get occasional client requests for liquid simulations, but not enough to justify buying and learning X-Particles.
Is there an easy way to pull the fabric. Like a hand grabs a sheet at one corner and tugs it forcefully? I realize I could probably rig something with forces, but is that the best way?
Great video EJ! I am getting an alert on one of my setups that says ‘Collisions limit exceeded’, although it’s not all that complex of a scene. Cannot find any explanations online as to what causes it or how to solve it. Any ideas?
It means that you may have too strong a force on cloth so it's causing too many collisions so either remove subdivisions or turn down your force settings to try to troubleshoot!
Great stuff, though I'm running into a problem when you get to rotational fields, mine isn't doing it at all when I put the spherical field.... I've rewatched the whole thing up to then 4 times now even putting in the exact numbers you are and it's still not doing it for me so I'm stopping there.
I've actually run into this same issue during my one Siggraph presentation... It may be a bug? have you tried in a new project or adding a turbulence force as well?
I'm running into the same thing here. Disabling Friction makes it rotate (as the video shows), but rotating the z up doesn't twist it... Still testing though
Hi! Thanks for Tutorial! But one question is! How Can I Drop some solid object at the cloth with new simulation but without any keyframes in collider object?
I always hear to turn up the substeps and iterations when things aren't looking good, but I find that things get worse when those numbers go up. The cloth sticks to itself more and jitters around. It seems like low numbers are what gives the best results, but then the cloth is very bouncy and stretchy.
Thanks for the amazing tutorial ! Just one thing - for some reason my field force isn’t working. I create the spherical field and nothing happens, I followed all the steps ! Every other force works perfectly. Any idea what I could be doing wrong ?
When I add fixed points in my dress to attach it to a pole it stretches a lot. I played with the iterations and scale, but seems to just stretch to much. I want to make a “drag-race” wave flag passing close the camera.
Hello. I have followed all the steps(cloth tag added to plane and collider tag added to torus), however the plane just falls right through and then disappears when it meets the torus, without draping. I have the latest version of Cinema 4D. Do you have any idea what the problem might be?
Hi Teacher, I am using "Create Nulls from paths". I have a problem when I am applying them and they don't lie precisely in that place. Could you please help me with that? Thanks Amrit
Great video, thanks! One question I do have is when I run the simulation, it works fine for a little bit, but then the cloth suddenly darts off into oblivion. I've tried changing the simulation in various ways, but it always goes crazy eventually. Does anyone know how to solve this?
Does this new system take advantage of multiple GPUs with NVlink sir? I'm on the edge of purchasing 4090 or 2 3090 right now with NVLINK so this could be a deal breaker.
how can i bake that simulation into a object? i want to export this simulation to a different software but when i do it the object is static. please help
@@eyedesyn i think the closest thing we have is the donut tutorials to a beginning to end walkthrough But if you applied the SoM bootcamp outline, like the c4d one It will sell like hot cakes
I find it confusing about scene size / scale and simulations, since the standard cube is 2m big! would be better to come in at 20cm.. But I guess I can change that myself!
For some reason fabric simulation always feels too soft to me, you don't have control over the creases. In MD we have a property called Buckling and combined with the Stiffness of the material we get better results for harder fabrics. I couldn't get it in C4D.
Really cool tut, thanks for sharing this. I was wondering - any reason why when I follow along with the exact same settings (object size, number of cuts, subdivisions, etc.) my cloth sim ends up looking completely different? I need to really crank the turbulence values before I see anything stronger than minor oscillations. I'm still getting really cool results I'm happy with, just wondering what our differences might be?
This is where the Pixologic dev time is going! Instead of releasing new Zbrush version which we have not received for more than a year since they bought out Pixologic, they're stripping Zbrush's features and port them into Cinema 4D. I see!
The business model and the whole situation with Zbrush after Maxon acquired Pixologic is just dreadful and sad all around. But don't expect Maxon to abandon their flagship product and refrain from introducing new features. C4D already nearly missed being a laughing stock compared to Blender, especially when factoring in value. Only recently it has received some meaningful improvements.
@@neoqueto The problem with Blender is usability, the best programmers with the worst experience Designers. The day they get it right goodbye to Cinema 4D. Blender is very light and fast, I hope Maxon is doing their homework because things are getting serious.
hello guys , im facing a problem im currently using a cloth to cover a car but the side mirror that my cloth cover keep jerking ,, i try increase the smooth iterations still doesnt work any one know the solution ?
Mh, know what the difference between SideFX and Maxon is? SideFX (and community) would never mention C4D. Ever. Why would they? So comparing this to Houdini is simply silly. C4D is extremely convenient for few steps fast turnaround motion graphics… for that it‘s awesome, at least until scrolling through the bug threads on the maxon forums.
In my Twitter feed there is A LOT of comparing C4D results with Houdini and people getting excited about it. I think knowing that you can get Houdini-ish results in the new C4D cloth is empowering for many people who may not want to learn another app that is as complex and deep as Houdini. I don't see the harm in that or the silliness in showing you can get vellum style looks in C4d cloth?
I'd just like to point out how much better EJ has gotten as a teacher. Keep it up!

I cannot even articulate how much I appreciate what you're doing with these vieos. Thank you!
Awesome Tutorial EJ! Always looking forward to those puns!!! I Absolutely loved the field force bits. So many possible iterations.
Appreciate you waching and the kind words, Tunji! :)

Those features are absolutely awesome ! And your presentation are great - thank you !
Great vid EJ!
Coming from the GOAT himself! Wow thanks bud !!! ❤❤❤❤
Amazing tutorial, can't wait to try it! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge, really appreciated.
The new particle based cloth engine is a massive improvement, and EJ tutorials are always gold nuggets!
Glad you enjoyed it - definitely exciting times for sim stuff in C4D!
@@eyedesyn what I can't seem to find is a strightforward way to loop cloth sims as it used to be working with the old engine...

You the man EJ - cracking me up in this vid with the stabbing polygon through screen = blind for life lol
I love that EJ brought up the importance of scale, which I often forget! lol
Wow. This is so much better and faster than the old cloth system. Love it!
Absolutely - i'm pretty impressed!
This is the best free software Ive seen. Respect.
