little correction, in the case of Ramses II, if you used that mummy next to the reconstruction for guide, that's the mummy of his father Seti, so we would be seeing the facial reconstruction of Seti I and not of Ramses. Also, I'd love to see the reconstructions of Tuthmose III and Amenhotep III

Please search genetic studies published in Nature magazine those last two years .. there s a study that has over a million samples .. there s another study that found today's egyptians to have more subsaharan genes than the pharaohs .. pharaohs were not white .. they werent black .. they re closely related to today's egyptians who re actually closer to pharaohs than they re to arabs and levantis .. that's what science says

There is a Royalty aura and ancientness that ancient Egyptians convey that those AI generated images don't have. They don't look ancient at all, more like generations born later.

@@ArthurSum Yes they didn't looked like white Europeans, in general there is not much difference to the recent Egyptians. About the pharaos, there are many differences, maybe the skin tone of Khufu was right but Akhenaten's skin is too light in this reconstruction.
Ramesses had red hair so it was clear that his skin tone was light, but anyway he choose the wrong mummy for him.

@@butterfly7697 I don't think so. Ramses 2 never slowed red hair in their sculpture and always showed a very dark brown skin. Nowadays in Egypt you have light skin in the north and brown skin in the south and it's getting darker going to the south. IF YOU find me a serial of sculpture that show a yellow color or pink color..I accept it. But in mY memory I've never seen white or yellow even "bronze " Egyptian pharao.

As far as I know they were extremely inbred and often deformed and very fat, but on all paintings and sculptures they were made to look perfect. It was not how they really looked like, it's made up version of them that was supposed to impress people. It's like ancient photoshop. But your reconstruction is great. It really looks a lot like those sculptures

I got sick of watching these re-creations and these pharoes and queens are almost always depicted with light skin which its most likely inaccurate for the Old Kingdom (New Kingdom. We see the arabic influence and possibly lighter tones). However, it would be nice to see their skin tones for the lovely dark colors they most likely were.
Can you share with us why you believe that ancient Egyptians were likely dark skinned?
If the reason you believe that is that Egypt is in Africa, I would encourage you to look at a map of Northern Africa and The Middle East. People from Morocco, Libya, Algeria, Palestine, and Siria are not dark skinned. They look more like Mediterranean people, because they are, just as Egyptians today, albeit Southern Mediterraneans. And no: when Arabs conquered these countries they did not annihilated the local population and substituted it by themselves. After the conquest, the local population still was a majority with their (original) looks.
Also, when you see depictions (wall pictures and painted sculptures) of ancient Egyptians, women are shown as light skinned and men are painted “red” - like someone who spends time in the sun without sunscreen.
I rather think that Egyptians displayed a rainbow of skin colors - given that the south Nile really reaches towards Central Africa. Most likely people who looked like today Central Africans moved North and lived together with people who looked like Mediterraneans. But saying that ALL Egyptians in the Old Kingdom had dark skin seems like a stretch.

It all depends on where they were in Egypt. Northern Egyptians probably looked more like this while southern Egyptians had more of a "paper bag" skin color. Either way who cares. You don't know these people they didn't know you. Move on.

The black pharaohs that are known were Kings of Kush, but I don't know which era they reigned. Most facial reconstructions are based on the people who currently live in Egypt, as DNA has not been tested for genetic racial markers (not that I'm aware of).
