I have another theory I think he was son of Pharoh of exodus. He was second born so maybe firstborn died in tenth plague and also timing agrees with Bible date of Exodus which is arround 15 century bce.
Abram was born around the age of 2100-2050 BCE His son Isaac lived to be 140 years of age. Born when Abraham was the age of 100, this would put Isaac's birth between 2000BCE and 1950BCE. So Isaacs death would have been somewhere between 1860-1810BCE. Jacobs death followed Isaac's between 40-70 years later. Which would be between 1820-1740BCE. Joseph brings Israel to Egypt. Which would have been somewhere between 1800-1720BCE and they were there for 430 years. Including the years Moses was alive. So this would put the period of when the Exodus occurred between 1370-1290BCE. More accurately between 1350-1325BCE.
I've been studying religion for over a decade now and just today learned about the Akhenaten - Moses connection theory and it has blown my mind. It makes so much sense... same period, one god, prohibiting idol worship, etc.
At first I thought mabey akhenaten was Joseph, but I guess this makes more sense. This is a good introduction to Ahkenaten, but it leaves out many facts that are unknown to history. Ahkenaten didn't die naturally, he was murdered (poisoned) by order of the high priest of Thebes. His six daughters were also murdered in the same way. Nefertiti was spared, because of her popularity and allowed to live out her natural life in Amarna. Tut was spared because the priests who engineered the murder of Ahkenaten's family, needed a puppet successor to maintain the royal succession. Much more could be said about the significance of Ahkenaten's life and work and the relevance to our times, but maybe another time.
Lots about him if you discern: Mystic (took seriously advice of Joseph, an Hebrew dream-mancer!), learned literate man, religious, close to his mother, faithful family patriarch (girl dad!) and husband. Open-minded, artistic (wrote poems and hymns to God), practical (Akhenaten chose the location of his new holy city (Akhetaten/El-Amarna-East Nile) and co-designed it with his architects), able king, politician and diplomat. Maverick visionary whose influence and ideas still flourish today.

The Amarna Period certainly brought about an interesting *(I want to say more realistic)* way of art. As for Akhenaten's depictions of himself, I believe- and I'm no expert- that he depicted himself in an almost feminine manner since the Aten was androgynous- and Akhenaten was, supposedly, the son of the Aten, therefore making him androgynous; moreover, Tutankhamen tested negative for Marfan's syndrome- despite being severely inbred, like Cleopatra. There is a book The Egyptian by Mika Waltari that tells the story of Akhenaten. Historians have not found any mistakes in it. Its a fascinating book and really worth reading.
@ceidaguzmanllamas8779 During Egyptian times, Christianity didn't exist. Your comment has no relevance here other than to push your agenda. Please try to stay on topic. There was a time in this world when other religions ruled. Open your mind. Have faith in what you want. But understand that there were many religions before Christianity, and there will be more after christianity. Just as you strongly believe in your God, so do others believe in their God, & Goddesses,.
Akhenaten was a henotheist, not a monotheist. The difference is between “one” and “only”. He did not deny the existence of other gods; he preferred “one” god, namely Aten. And he was deeply suspicious of the Luxor priesthood which had attained tremendous power. So, like LOUIS XIV, quite a while later, he moved the capital away from them.
Evidently, he destroyed other idols and their places of worship while constructing a city for Aten, so he was a monotheist who banned other Gods. That is what the video and history say.
@@sophiawilson8696 Yes that’s why I’m wondering cause there is no evidence. Whats wrong with a bit of speculation, who knows we may find out more in the future. Anyway many of our ancient sources aren’t the best.
Great video! I was just a little confused though at the 6:24 mark where you used a Persian statue as the stand in for the Assyrian King. But we don't really have many statues from the old Assyrian Empire.
Lovely video mate. It's a given that Ramses II will be one of your future videos so I'll make some suggestions of rulers who reigned before him that you can cover: Suppiluliuma I Ashur-uballit I Mursili II Horemheb Adad-nārārī I
In Marvel comics' the end story , Akhenaten was abducted by aliens and the illustration of Akhenaten in the comic is the same as shown in the video. I didn't realize the artist had picked actual historical reference to portray him in art
Anyone notice that Amonhotep IV didn't look anything like his father or grand father? Like the strange Alien skull and weird body shape AND that Nefertiti appears from no where with the same extended skull feature?
It’s African history. There’d be no Kemet (Egypt) without the nomads making their way to that area of Africa. Kemet was the grand jewel of centuries of discovery and African progress; hence the reason pyramids and artifacts, found in central Africa that pre-date Kemet’s colossal version, have the same symbology to that found in that once dominant African culture.
Stop! The modern day Egyptians have nothing to do with the ancient culture of that area! They’ve only just arrived in the 7th Century as invaders! They defaced the pyramids of their granite coverings to build their mosques. And if it truly was “Egyptian” history, then why are they continuing to deface, raid the resting sites of these ancient African pharaohs? Egypt is a Greek/Roman designation-its Kemet! Even the world-renowned Greek/Roman philosophers described in their own words what they looked like! Egyptology is a racist program, funded by the Catholic Church, to continue its goal of denying real history to surface. So miss me with that tired, old “sub-Saharan, Egypt history argument. This is the Aquarius Age! Knowledge is at everybody’s fingertips-not just the chosen few! Peace…and THANK YOU!
@@HistoryExplained Yeah he's one of the most brilliant emperors you've never heard of. Madlad reversed the fall of Rome's economy and military power in just 5 years. History would've been very different if not for those glorious few years. He introduced monotheism to Rome in the same way Akhenaten did to Egypt. Both worshipped the Sun god and both had strong independent women as wives. Aurelian's wife served as the de facto empress after his assassination. Perhaps the only Roman woman to have done so
Just finished it. Yea he sounds fascinating and extremely consequential. So impressive how he defeated both the Palmyrene Empire and the Gaulic Empire in only a couple of years... Mind blowing actually!
i dunno how he changed history forever? his own son immidiatly started the revert to the previous religious system, and they covered up the hieroglyphs on the walls from the era of akhenaten, so they pretty much completly forgot about him

Very nicely done! I think I interpret some of Akhenaten's behaviours and deeds a little differently, but it's something I'll have to think about and read up on. I love the irony of him being erased from history and then rocketed to the heights of infamy millennia later, like his inconsequential but world famous son! Okay, inconsequential is a little unfair... but not completely.
Yes that irony is absolutely fascinating. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on Akhenaten’s behaviors on your channel in the future. Thank you for becoming one of my first patrons! Your support is greatly appreciated!
Anither great video! Keep up the great work! I always thought that Egyptians rejected monotheistic religion because of a series of droughts, famine and infestations.
Akhenaten done the same thing as Constantine the Great and other leaders of history with Ultra power. As I always say, history repeats itself in different times, people, Wars, countries, Leader/Kings etcc of countries/Kingdoms, in Earth's history.
He is one of my favorite pharao's, he was way ahead of his time with monotheism. And I just love the name, bringer/creator of light. Next month we will get a new kitten, his name will be Akhenaton and for short we will call him Echie (in Dutch Akhenaton is Echnaton). Thanks for the lovely series of ancient Egypt! Will watch the Nefertiti one next.
Sigmund Freud is a complete sham psychologist he made excuses for child molesters. He should never be quoted when you want someone to respect your work
No you are wrong. This was 500 or 600 years later. You see the rulers of Egypt during prophet Joseph's time did not use the (title pharaoh). But akhenaten time they did. Also the koran refers to this . Unlike the bible which refers title pharaoh to Both of these rules from different times
Akhenaten meant something like, "Effective for the Aten." There is no hard evidence for how he died since we are not sure if we have his remains (KV55 might be Smenkhare).
It would seem, that the more you try to hide history, the more becomes revealed! His son, Tutenkamun, was also a victim of this treatment and look what happened with that!

Your review of my channel during your livestream the other day was helpful and great fun! Check out Tim’s review of my channel starting at 36:08 in this video:

There is a book The Egyptian by Mika Waltari that tells the story of Akhenaten. Historians have not found any mistakes in it. Its a fascinating book and really worth reading.
I read this book. That is where I learned about Egyptian history and this monotheistic Pharaoh.
Three is only one king of kings and that is Jesus Christ
And only one God
@ceidaguzmanllamas8779 During Egyptian times, Christianity didn't exist. Your comment has no relevance here other than to push your agenda. Please try to stay on topic. There was a time in this world when other religions ruled. Open your mind. Have faith in what you want. But understand that there were many religions before Christianity, and there will be more after christianity. Just as you strongly believe in your God, so do others believe in their God, & Goddesses,.
@@ceidaguzmanllamas8779 he is not a king, he is a viking :)
Great as usual!
Thanks for always watching and commenting!
Thanks for sharing
Evidently, he destroyed other idols and their places of worship while constructing a city for Aten, so he was a monotheist who banned other Gods. That is what the video and history say.
did he tell u that himself?
Just subscribed!
Akhenaten is my favourite Pharaoh!
Happy to hear that! Thanks for joining!
He’s one of my favorites as well!
Really interesting, thanks for the video🙌
Thanks so much for always watching and commenting Valerie!
I wonder to what extent Akhanaten influenced Zarathustra and the monotheistic Zorastrianism that we now asociate with the Achaemened Empire.
I wonder as well!
There are no evidence of that.
Great catch! That was a mistake on my part. Thanks for watching!
Lovely video mate. It's a given that Ramses II will be one of your future videos so I'll make some suggestions of rulers who reigned before him that you can cover:
Suppiluliuma I
Ashur-uballit I
Mursili II
Horemheb
Adad-nārārī I
Thanks so much for this!
Great video
Thank you!
@@HistoryExplained your very welcome
In Marvel comics' the end story , Akhenaten was abducted by aliens and the illustration of Akhenaten in the comic is the same as shown in the video. I didn't realize the artist had picked actual historical reference to portray him in art
That’s interesting
He looks disturbing, both in scultpture and in hieroglyph
Anyone notice that Amonhotep IV didn't look anything like his father or grand father? Like the strange Alien skull and weird body shape AND that Nefertiti appears from no where with the same extended skull feature?
Glorious African history.
Thank you so much for channel's value and amazing work. I'm subbing.
It's Egyptian history, not the whole continent dum*my
It’s African history.
I really appreciate it. Thanks you very much :)
@@islamsaadoun2018Egypt is apart of Africa fool! And the Egyptians on many occasions said their ancestors migrated from the south! 😂😂😂
Kinda spooky to see the similarities between him and the Roman Emperor Aurelian
What similarities
Interesting. I’m watching Kings & Generals’ video on Emperor Aurelian now to learn more about him because I’m not very familiar.
@@HistoryExplained
Yeah he's one of the most brilliant emperors you've never heard of.

I can already make guesses on who the next vid is going to be about :P

Beautiful and interesting, thank you for your work !
I appreciate that!
An unexpected surprise, for sure, but a welcome one!
Happy to hear that!
i dunno how he changed history forever? his own son immidiatly started the revert to the previous religious system, and they covered up the hieroglyphs on the walls from the era of akhenaten, so they pretty much completly forgot about him

The series is way better than anything on Netflix 😅
I just wish you'd release an entire season at once 😁
Great work man👏👏👏👏👏

This is true, I love Egyptology but Netflix series are a let down.

He was actually the pharaoh at the time of Yusuf/Joseph
He followed monotheism just like prophets Sayed
He was later hated by Egyptian people

Could you do Tutankhamun? He's one of my favorite pharaohs
Yes one day
A great video depicting the way History has influenced civilization.

Another excellent video. The Amarma period is fascinating and puzzling ,full of colorful personalities and intrigues.
Could you make a video about de infamous Zananza case?
It was the beginning of the long Egypt-Hittite hostilities and we do not know the identity of the egyptian queen .Maybe she was Nefertiti.
Greetings from Brazil and keep up the good work.
I agree completely! I’ll look into Zananza for sure. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching Carlos!
Akhenaten founded and ran the famous Mystery Schools which were dispersed by the Roman invasion. The Essenes were from Akhenaten's mystery schools.
Thanks for sharing
This was wonderful. I've studied him, but never contemplated how powerful the monotheism might have been in history. The outcast Aten worshipers led by a Moises..is a fun thing to contemplate. Thank you so much!
Sorry this is such a tardy reply, but i work in the construction industry and we were bizzy today...lol
Yes, very fun to contemplate indeed! Thanks for being so active on channel!
@@HistoryExplained i always considered Ankenaten a truncated leader. After his reign, Egypt returned to polytheism. The temples and the people...it was as if a leader decided to destroy the entire economy. They did all they could to erase him....but how did the religious infrastructure survive during his reign?
While I don't care for him, as a historical figure he was certainly noteworthy.

Great video! So much answers

That’s an interesting theory that I’ve never heard. Thanks so much for watching!
Akhenaten done the same thing as Constantine the Great and other leaders of history with Ultra power. As I always say, history repeats itself in different times, people, Wars, countries, Leader/Kings etcc of countries/Kingdoms, in Earth's history.
Do you think that he was a good pharaoh?
Akhenaten wanted to do what Constantine the Great did but he didn't finish. His mission continues.

He is one of my favorite pharao's, he was way ahead of his time with monotheism.
And I just love the name, bringer/creator of light. Next month we will get a new kitten, his name will be Akhenaton and for short we will call him Echie (in Dutch Akhenaton is Echnaton).

This is during the time of yusuf ale Salaam (prophet Joseph may peace b on him).....its in quran....

No you are wrong. This was 500 or 600 years later. You see the rulers of Egypt during prophet Joseph's time did not use the (title pharaoh). But akhenaten time they did. Also the koran refers to this . Unlike the bible which refers title pharaoh to Both of these rules from different times

I will, but it will be a long time before I reach Ottoman figures because I’m going in chronological order. Thanks for the question!
Akhenaten meant something like, "Effective for the Aten." There is no hard evidence for how he died since we are not sure if we have his remains (KV55 might be Smenkhare).
