    Please note-- In this video I used an artifical silk rose. Many people have assumed it was real and have been dissappointed when they used an unprepared fresh flower. You can use a real flower in resin but only after it has been dried out. If you are trying to make this project with a real flower please watch my video called Making a valentines day/wedding bouquet/fresh flower keepsake- how to dry flowers and set in resin. It explains how to dry and seal the flower before using in a resin project such as this one. I know from the many messages that I recieve that many people have saved a rose from a wedding bouquet, valentines gift or other special occasion and used my video to make a wonderful keepsake. It makes me very happy to know that I am inspiring you.
    So here's how I made this beautiful romantic rose pyramid lamp with epoxy resin. I used a silk rose and a set of LED copper fairy lights. (Update-A set of white micro light with clear cable and USB connector and remote control is the best thing to use I think now). It took several layers to complete, and the resin I used is quite slow to cure, but it was worth the wait. It came out crystal clear with no air bubbles at all. I have another video of how I prepare my resin as I don't show that here. For this project I actually used Epodex ultra clear pro+, but the preparation was just the same as in my resin preparation video (Using a warm water bath and blasting with a heat tool). Any deep casting resin is suitable for this pyramid
    This is a full tutorial as I have filmed every step I took. To keep the video as short as I possible, I have sped up the footage wherever I could.
    It was quite tricky getting the copper wire lights where I wanted them to go, The wire has a mind of it's own! The lights are LED with a USB power supply. They have 8 different cycles and a timer ,You can also turn the brightness up or down. It' the first time I have used these In a pyramid and I think they work wonderfully.
    I really hope you enjoy watching and If you like the video please leave me a comment. Thank you.
    You can also catch me on instagram at- roselily-resin-creations.

    Products I used
    Epodex Ultra Clear Pro+ Resin - I bought from epodex.com
    Pearl Pink and White Liquid Resin Dye- Bought from a kit on Ebay
    Rebel Glitter Silver Ignition Dust- Bought from just4youonline.com
    An Artificial Silk Rose- cut from an ornament from Home Bargains
    Ultra Sparkle White Pearl Metallic Luxury Pigment Powder- Bought on Ebay
    Lets Craft Silver Metallic Acrylic paint- From a hobby shop
    8 Small Disc Magnets- Bought on Ebay
    4 Metal screw in flat bottom feet (handbag furniture feet)- Bought on Ebay
    2 Part Epoxy Glue- From Poundland
    Sticky Backed Felt- From Poundland
    LED Copper Wire Lights With USB and Remote Control in Warm White- Bought on Ebay
    You will also need a large 15cm silicone pyramid mold and stand and a silicone cube mold- I got mine from Ebay
    Safety note.
    Please always wear gloves when handling liquid resin.

      You got roses- lucky you. Great idea to preserve them this way but please remember if they are fresh flowers, they should be dried out. The best way is put the roses in silica for 2--3 weeks. Fresh flowers have too much moisture and react with resin. They would lose their colour and go all squishy. I hope you can make the pyramid with your special roses and happy crafting.😊

    Thanks so much for this information! I 've been working with resin for about 6 months now, and my usual aesthetic is more Morticia Addams than magnolia blossoms. But there are so many beautiful flowers (real and artificial) rn that I' ve become obsessed with putting blooms in everything I make, lol.
    When I got married 17 years ago, my Aunt dried the flowers from my bouquet and then put the potpourri in glass Christmas ornaments for all of our closest family. It is my husband's & my favorite ornament on our tree.
    My best friend is getting married this summer and she is using silk flowers, so as a gift for her I've agreed to save her bouquet in resin for her 💐. This video has been very helpful as I am taking a few practice runs with some random silk flowers, I want to make all the mistakes before I try with her actual wedding flowers 💜

      Thank you very much for the lovely comment. I keep the lines down by doing each layer and letting it cure and then straight away doing the next layer. • @roselilyresincreations9686
      @roselilyresincreations9686  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you for the lovely comment. To answer your question- To clean any little resin specks/splashes stuck to the silicone I rub with a lolly stick, to dislodge them, then wipe away. If there's dust or glitter I wipe with a dry microfibre cloth, no solution. (really I wipe all round after every layer, even if I can't see anything, because any tiny speck there will show on the face of the pyramid. I know some crafters use rubbing alcohol, but I don't. I Hope that helps.

      Your first rose bouquet, how wonderful. I am guessing they were real roses. The one in my pyramid was actually a silk rose. A real rose would go all mushy and lose color but If you dry it in silica crystals for at least 3 weeks, you can then put it in resin. I hope you find that helpful. Then of course I would make a pyramid lamp with the best one😊. After that I know there's a great silicone mould of a half a ball shape paperweight if you can get one. i would set the rose/roses in upside down in clear resin, leaving 1cm at the top. Then I would add a glittery or sparkly top. When it comes out it's a rose on a glittery base paperweight and would look fabulous.Just my suggestion.😊😊😊

    • @roselilyresincreations9686
      @roselilyresincreations9686  3 роки тому +2

      Hi - Each layer needs time to cure or the next layer will sink down into the last. The resin I use is very slow curing, that's why I wait so long. So really it depends on which resin you use. Most others cure hard in less than a day and yes you could speed it up quite a bit. The resin I use cures crystal clear and i don't get air bubbles, thats why I prefer to take my time. Also whatever resin you use, the layer should not be more than about 2 inches deep. I hope that helps and good luck with your pyramid.😊

      Hi thank you so much for the lovely comment. Making it for a wedding is such a lovely idea. Please note that I did use a faux silk rose in this project. ( everything I used is listed in the descrition box). Just an idea but, it woulds also be nice if you could save a rose from the wedding bouquet and use that. It must be dried out to go in resin. To dry it out thoroughly, use silica gel crystals for 3-4 weeks. That flower in a pyramid lamp would be a great memento. Another idea, in my next video I am making flowers in initials. That could be the brides and grooms too, the videos coming soon. Finally, yes you are right, the lights were the 1 metre size. (I have tried making this with bright white and coloured lights too but it really looks the best with soft warm white lights). So happy to have inspired you and I wish you luck with your pyramid.😊

    Do you let each layer cure fully? Also do you have to do anything to the dry layer before pouring the new layer... like sanding it or anything?

    • @roselilyresincreations9686
      @roselilyresincreations9686  3 роки тому +1

      Hi yes I let each layer fully cure. I keep it covered over so no dust can get in and I do the next layer without any prep at all. I know some resins do say to work on the next layer within a time limit, but I use a slow curing resin suitable for casting to 4cm at a time. Even leaving it a couple of weeks between layers does not make any difference. So I would say it depends on which brand of resin you are using and to check their instructions for casting. Thanks and I hope that helps.😊

      Hi I am not really sure what you are asking about as there isn't anything rubber on the pyramid. If you mean the feet, they are metal and called flat bottomed screw in handbag feet and I get them on ebay. Everything I used is listed in the description box on the video and I hope that helps you. Happy crafting.

    Why wait 3 days at a time, the time for it to dry is 4 hours. That's way too long just to make one.

      Hi re your comment- 4 hours, sorry I have not heard of any resin that cures in 4 hours. I follow the instructions from the resin manufacturers. This one was slow curing but if I do something I do always do what it says on the bottle. I would rather take the time and get it right than rush and mess it up. Thanks for the comment though. By the way, what's the name of the resin that you say cures in 4 hours please?
