It's the exact same mechanic as Chronos (2016 game, same creators as Remant: from the ashes) , you die, you get 1 year older and your attributes change
It’s the exact same thing that chronos did. It was released just at the end of 2020 and it a really good game, it flew under the radar because it’s a not a aaa game but not a Indy either. Thq Nordic published it.
this game is so fast paced that replaying the levels isn’t annoying at all, it never drags on or feels tedious, you are ALWAYS fighting and bettering your skills as you go. I can’t get enough of this, it’s addicting in the same way a mobile game is, yet it feels like a true video game. huge props to sloclap.
I love what sloclap did with this game. How they took inspiration from the kung fu movies of old, how they improved their fighting system from absolver, and how they brought in a real bak mei kung fu master to help with the motion capture. You can really see the hard work and creativity sloclap put into this game.
the only ball they dropped is the voice acting (imo) i would've LOVED some Cantonese voice acting just as an option, or at the very least make the English 80s-dub corny/goofy obviously this game isn't about much other than gameplay, but a better voice cast would've really pushed it over the edge into greatness
@@Kadeo-ms6qw It's not as finely customizable as Absolver. You're not picking every move to use in a combo string. Apologies for the long explanation coming. There's a fair number of preset combos (Square, Square, Triangle. Square, Square, Square, Triangle, etc). You're free to switch targets during the combos as well. There's a few stick/button moves like Down, Up, Triangle. There's also "Focus Attacks" that are done by holding L2 and selecting a node. A lot of moves will also have effects, like knocking an enemy away from you, taking them down to the ground, or stunning them. You can unlock a lot more moves through the skill tree. Charge attacks, ground counters. more Focus Attacks. And then there's guarding/dodging/weave-dodging/parrying. I'm sorry, the game has a lot.
@@Kadeo-ms6qw it's more in the moment strategizing than before hand like in absolver. I'd call it a more hands on experience and would definitely recommend. Is definitely challenging but I'm looking forward to becoming better. It's a different type of journey for sure. It's more like how you get better over time as super smash bros than how you unlock better moves in absolver even though it does have that unlocking aspect
Such a constantly reliable channel. The inclusion of saying the video is ‘spoiler free’ just takes that edge off at the start of the video. So hyped for Sifu
I hated playing through this game at first because I haven't played any fighting games that included brutal difficulty like Sifu. But I kinda screwed myself to the point where I was an old man on the Museum level, and forcing myself to replay it over and over again kinda forced me to get better at it. I ended up restarting, and I got to the Museum level at age 35 instead of 65. Sifu is a game I now have a newfound love and appreciation for. It's one of my favorite games of 2022 so far.
@@lt_johnmcclane saying we need more not that they both shouldnt exist. Not trying to be defensive just I agree with OP on more games need to just be about gameplay.
As a contribution to this vid, I think it's very important that the developers actually cared to respect the martial art. I've practiced Kung Fu for the last ten years, and I recognoize each and every move the character and enemies do. Of course, as it is a game, the combat is dramatized. But the techniques are real. Haven't played yet and I already love it!
@@Beofware 100%. You can tell when any piece of art (whether that's video games or a picture or music) is something the person loved making or if they were just making it to make money/out of a sense of obligation.
Its interesting to see how a "small" game like this outshines and outperforms large games like Battlefield 2042. It is a clear difference between a product of greed and a product of passion.
I'm just glad they went from absolver, which I loved but forced pvp was soo annoying, even with a perfect setup. Sifu being just a single player sounds like the perfect evolution, and they would do well to add on to it for more runs, styles, outfits, challenge modes, anything that keeps the game going
This is the same developers? I had thought it really looked like that game, which in my opinion was a hidden gem (but the pvp only certainly hurt it badly). This really is great to see; I agree.
I liked Absolver as well, too bad not many people liked it and had a small player base. I wished my friends would’ve played together with me because I get jumped by groups but I have no friends to help me jump them back. Sad times lol.
I love how I can play the exact same level for 2 hours straight and still not be bored; The fighting mechanic is literally awesome and crazy and amazing; What I like about this game is the crazy amount of focus you need, you cant just go about spamming light and heavy attacks thinking its going to do the job, sometime you have to use your focus bar, sometimes you have to use palm strike to disarm your enemies , sometimes you sweep to get that extra ground damage, sometimes you have to dodge or parry ; Its just so amazing. Also, the fact that you replay the same level over and over, makes you think about the moves you should unlock at the skill tree like "oh I'm gonna use Environmental Mastery to beat big guys easier", or "I'm gonna use Ground Parry so that I can always defend myself". This Game is probably gonna be unmatched at GOTY, the only competition I'm seeing right now is GOW5: Ragnarok
this game is incredible! i am currently stuck on the third level but loving every second of it. I dont want the game to be made easier, but i want a new game plus type thing where you can play through after beating the entire game but youre super OP and just can dominate opponents
Can't quite believe this got released on switch. Insanely hard, but using the environment and weapons is key. I'm still getting to grips with it, but it's a lot of fun. It does make me wish for a port of godhand. That game was amazing.
I've been seeing so many reviewers criticizing the fact that a European studio made a Kung Fu game. It even affected their scores. They shouldn't be game reviewers, they are poison to fun.
If you love Sifu, give Absolver a try! It was the game created by SloClap before this one and is one of my all time favorites. A small, non-overwhelming open world, fully 3 player co-op (or solo if you’d prefer), character creation, combo customization (you literally pick individual moves from a massive selection to string together how you like), and PvP for the fighter fans! It’s seriously amazing
Broo that makes so much sense i loved absolver but i aint play it that much mostly a fan of the videos and I instantly thought absolver when i saw this
A cool part of the game is when you walk into a new area and the npcs start talking to you and then the game prompts you to respond. You can ignore all of that and just punch them in the face.
I'm having a blast so far ! I managed to do the first stage without dying, got to the third stage at 39 years old and got wrecked on the 3rd boss. If you're a fan of kung fu movies and love beat em ups, it's a no brainer. Edit : Just got the platinum :D
Yea 1st time I beat 1st lvl I died like 2x. Once u realized I needed more lives to get past 2nd lvl I had to go bck and redo 1st lvl w/o dying. I figure that's gone have to be the strategy to get through the entire game
@@jonjon5665 If you got to 2nd stage that young, just keep pushing on stage 2. Stage 3 is the best and the hardest, Stage 4 is easier and Stage 5 is easier too. You'll be grindin anyways to get permanent unlocks.
The combat is messy and frantic in a good way. Things move realistically and react like the player and enemies actually occupy physical space. You get thrown around and you throw them around and I highly recomment getting the "R1 to throw ground objects" skill quickly cause it will save your ass.
It also makes really cool moments. I kicked a stick at someone and for some reason it didn't break so it flew back to me allowing me to catch it and smack the guy behind me.
it's a pretty sweet game, my only problem with it is that I wish there were more levels and environments to play through. The level designs were such a treat and so pretty to look at and I just wanted more! but the core gameplay is good enough that it doesn't really take away from the game
I've been having an absolutely blast with this game. It can be frustrating sometimes, but it always gives you that motivation to push on ahead and improve. You also didn't point out that each of the bosses are themed around the five elements of China. Each fight gets more fantastical and kind of trippy as the approach the big bad of the level.
yeah same, it can be frustrating and "cheap" sometimes ( I mean realistic is more accurate ) but each time its more like, damn I should have been better at this and not done x or y...lets do this again. usually its because you put your self in a bad situation.
This one has been on my radar for a long time and I'm really loving it, despite the brutal difficulty. Definitely in my top 5 for 2022 and it will most likely stay there. I'm really hoping we get some DLC for this game at some point.
Bought it on my friend’s PS5 and beat it today. This game is fantastic, if a little short, but the replayability still hasn’t worn off. Level design is great and the best fighting I have ever seen in a a game. Takes over Arkham Knight as best combat in my book. Story is also great. Can’t wait for the DLC man, this game is sick.
@@Malouco both are great games, sifu feels a bit more fast paced at times. I do like how much of the environment you can interact with, Sleeping dogs and Yakuza both came to mind. Streets of rage too. The level design/graphics are both pretty enticing and do lend themselves to a somewhat cinematic experience. I got mad daredevil and samurai jack vibes at a couple points and it heighten my enjoyment. The replayability is almost like that of a mobile game with a pretty short loop, thankfully the grind, scenery, secrets, and everything help fill it out and make it feel like a full game. If you enjoyed sleeping dogs I think you'd enjoy sifu as well.
It's such a blast playing this game. It's refreshing to play something different! The action gets insane and watching your character fight and parry while picking up weapons to use during the action puts a smile on my face. Fix the camera and add a slider to pull it back a little and it'll be a 10/10 for me. It just feels too zoomed in most of the time.
I love the fact that your moves actually occupy space in the physical world of the game. You throw a roundhouse that one guy dodged but it collides with a different guy who was not the target of the attack? Dude still takes the hit and is on the floor. Enemy throws a bottle but his bud steps in the way and the bottle collides with his buds model? Yeah no, that bottle hits his bud instead of you and damages and stuns him. I have never played a game that did so well of tracking movements and making things react realistically. Even games where you wield giant swords that look like they should body 6 guys in one swing will just hit the one guy you targeted even if it passes through 4 others on the way.
Bought the deluxe edition. This game is absolutely amazing regardless the difficulty. The gameplay appears easy to pick up which is but the more you upgrade the more you realize how deep and complex it actually is
Honestly it was worth it more because you could play it earlier. But I am a nerd for game soundtracks and art books. If you are like me I would say it’s worth it. Plus you get to show the game a little bit more love
This game looks amazing I'm definitely going to get it once I finish my current game. Just the age mechanic and challenge looks so unique and fun I can't wait to play it. I Love A challenge, I don't understand why so many people get mad when games are actually challenging, that's what makes them actually rewarding and fun to play imo
Reminds me of Jet Li's Rise to Honor game from back in the day. A combat heavy kung fu game with a strong narrative - only this one seems like it executes it in a much greater way. Can't wait to try it
I was thinking about that game the other day!! specific memories are when I found out on the first or second level you could burn a guys face on the flat grill in the restaurant kitchen and drown them in the pot sink lol
Definitely what I was thinking. People don't play sekiro because of its difficulty but once you experience it, you crave for it more. Seeing this review I think I will pick this up instead of Elden Ring now.
This game reminded me how much I can get addicted to a game (in a good way) I just missed this "rush" where you just cant wait to get some free time to sit down and play more. The game is so fresh and well done. great job sloclap, and a big THANK YOU!
Yup, every time I feel I am getting bored of gaming or maybe too old for it, a game like this, or something out of FromSoft, comes out and I get that old feeling again
This game looks great and I look forward to seeing this ageing mechanic come into some other games. For me, my tolerance for frustration is really low and I don't have as much time for games as I used to so this is a skip for me but I really admire what the devs have created.
same, i dont know why devs think it is a good idea to make an artificially dificult game, at least make 2 difficutly settings? a normal difficulty not ultra try hard i have plenty of time to redo the same lvl 10 times.
Somebody give jake and falcon a raise I love Jake's thorough reviews and his knowledgeable experience And falcon's casual way of telling you serious things
I hope more hand to hand combat oriented games take much influence from Sifu, Particularly the next Big Batman game. Loved the Arkham series but its button mashing no matter how good it is always gets dull after a while cuz it feels like the game is doing all the work as long as you're dodging. Being able to actually focus on enemies, target body parts & break them, performing fluid hit combo & even defensive combos like you're Neo, would really make u feel like the precise & advanced fighter that Batman really is.
They're not quite that advanced but you might like God Hand and the Yakuza series , they're hand to hand fighters that you can get really technical in if you learn them
I mean Arkham combat was not something new but something interesting. Yeah i kinda agree that how does going from moving a bit punch 1x to 8x+ with the ability to literally dash toward enemies make sense? But you have to understand one thing, complex the game gets more cult like it becomes.
This game is a linear roguelite. Arkham games are large open world metroidvanias... There's only so much Arkham can do because of that with all the other things the game does.
This game is so goddamn good. Never played a game so damn challenging but kept me wanting to try again, over and over and over again. It is so rewarding to get better at the dodging, learning the new skills as you go and permanently unlock them. And just getting better and better at it.
This game will be quickly forgotten and people won't buy this crap for not having a difficulty mode. The devs said on launch they won't have it but in the future [Whatever that might be] they will implement it. So buying this game is not worth it personally and for other people who want to enjoy a good campaign without being too difficult. I bet the devs did this to see how many people will buy it and if it's below their expectations they definitely implement it in an update. Also Returnal hasn't a difficulty mode and it was quickly forgotten and they instead put an update having photo mode and suspension mode.
@@MikeTheGreek This point your making is very dumb. You are saying a game needs to have a difficulty option to be successful? Not true at all. Just because you are bad at the game and aren’t willing to put in some effort to get good does not mean it will be quickly forgotten. It’s not a story driven game, but a combat driven game that doesn’t need an easy mode. This game isn’t for you but it will be for a lot of other people. Challenging games like dark souls, sekiro etc are popular for a reason.
Man I am really hopeful that this might help to revitalize the beat-em-up genre. This game has been on my radar now since it was first announced - and the Nintendo-hard difficulty is music to my ears. Can't wait to play it.
I didn’t realize how difficult this game was gonna actually be. I’ve been playing it via early access and can’t get past level 2. I can only play for small blocks of time before I feel like throwing my controller out the window
Kind of like a sim racer in that you either figure out the right braking + turn-in to a turn or your losing position or in to a wall. Some might say it has the "souls" like grind but that would be a watered down. Played a few hours yesterday and enjoyed my time but also hit a wall pretty quick of what Jake says in you really need to master sections/levels before moving on. The unlock tree could use some massaging just in terms of why is everything so high priced imo. It is those moments of there you clear an area without being touched just to get without-mercy crushed in the very next section. I could use a little more varied enemy interaction its either 2-3 enemies or 7-8 - which is daunting to the say the least. Still trying to get my blocking/dodge down as well as get out of the Club level. Cheers
dodging is absolutly essential for getting sean. its either duck duck duck or Sidestep duck sidestep or dodge step over doddge, shit was so annoying at first bruh
@@a_passing_cloud that game has the best hand 2 hand ive played, you can learn moves by blocking and parrying other peoples moves and build your own combat deck using various fighting styles but drunken boxing is my favorite, really worth playing though if you get the time, it goes on sale a lot
@ANOTHER LOST ACCOUNT have you ever seen a martial arts fight? They’re not just throwing haymakers they use precise accurate strikes to slowly cripple their opponent i promise you wouldn’t handle a karate chop to the neck followed by a spinning kick to the legs followed by a 3 hit combo to your head just because they don’t use full strength to throw the hits
As a DS Sekiro fans, the challenge is really welcoming in Sifu. The fighting choreography and mechanics are satisfying, high replay and speed-running value.
the creators of Sifu based they game off their previous title absolver. which came out in 2017 before sekiro and had posture bar mechanics, parries, and unblockable attacks that needed to be dodged, parried, or jump/ducked. So sekiro copied absolver/sifu not the other way around.
I pre-ordered this and and dove into it cold. And this was not what I was expecting. They're out of pocket for the difficulty and learning curve 😄 I expected someone more along the lines of Sleeping Dogs
Kind of liked it when I started it, got my ass beat a thousand times, started getting annoyed with it, preserved through, enjoying it a bit more now, but man there are some enemies that whoop my ass. Regardless of this game annoying the hell out of me, I've played more than a few hours. When everything flows together and the camera is not being another obstacle to contend with, it's pretty fun and engaging
The developers last game, Absolver, is one of my absolute favorite titles ever made. I hope this game helps bring the spotlight for an Absolver 2. The only thing missing from Sifu is that amazing pvp element that I crave
Got the game on early access, and good God, this game so far has ended up being EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Challenging combat that tests your reflexes/move knowledge/situational awareness, beautiful animation work, kickass environments to bust your way through, and a simple efficient story that pushes you and the combat forward. The game runs perfect for the most part (frame drops when transitioning to new areas, but quickly fixes itself), and there's incentive for me to replay all the levels and get better and learn more. LOVING the game. Sloclap has delivered for me 👍👊
Test reflexes/move knowledge/situation awareness? recipe for my ass getting kicked! Definitively gotta try it, between this one, Elden Ring (more dying) and Horizon my fridge s gonna get a lot of space.
@@allenphillip_man623 No alternative skins or outfits of that sort. The protagonist's outfit DOES change as you age in the game from dying. Young Sifu (Age 20 - 40(?) maybe?) has a black tank top and a red sash around his waist. Older Man Sifu (Age 40(?) - 75) has a long-sleeve Tang jacket (with the fasteners down the middle.) EDIT: Sifu's hair also changes as he ages, from a tied-up man bun to some kickass grey locks. He grows facial hair by about 24 - 25, and that gets longer and grey as you age too.
Its kind like a fighting game mixed with a Dark Souls type mercilessness. You have to master the controls, and they are far more complex than "swing sword" & "dodge roll".....but you have to have the motivation to keep playing the same sections over and over until you do master the controls. It will be far too tedious for most people. Its a very well done game, but its a very specific experience. Im glad to see unique ideas come to fruition, and have such care put into them. Its something we dont see in video games industry enough, these days.....especially with the AAA developers in North America. So, although Sifu is probably a pretty niche game, and not for me -- im delighted to see it out there being received so well.
It’s not really like souls in any way. But it does have elements of Sekiro in it, mainly the rhythm and countering. Also, it’s a common misconception that dark souls games are super “merciless”. Pretty much every game made in the 90s or before was harder than dark souls. Games just got so easy that if you actually die people will compare it to dark souls
One of my favourite games ever! Don't know how I managed to finish it, because I was getting my ASS WHUPPED, but it was so satisfying to finally finish it, even though the first ending kinda sucked because I didn't realise I had to spare all the bosses to get the good ending! Arena Mode is awesome too!
The idea of obsessing over age while trying to take revenge is kinda cool. It tells a story about a man who spent his entire life training to fight these 6 people. But he never did, he died of old age before over setting out
These indie games really are great not just because their prime directive is to make something enjoyable, but because they are also priced a lot more reasonably. It’s shocking how much games cost outside of the US, and $70 USD for some next gen games can come out to double that in other countries. Indie games can get a broader reach and audience and in this day and age we see small teams (sometimes just one person) create games that make the Titans in the industry laughable.
I’ve been enjoying this so much! Was excited for this to drop, the combat is straight up addicting! I’ve been replaying the first two missions to truly master them and unlock new abilities that will help me going forward! Truly a well crafted game despite the difficulty! Ghost of Tsushima made me feel like a samurai, and sifu made me feel like a kung fu master!
I personally think the game is amazing. A little bit rage inducing. But phenomenal because I like the difficulty and learning curve. I keep replaying the first level and trying to master it before moving on to the next one. I think it was totally worth the 50$. Way happier with this game than dying light 2.
@@keotastrophe3715 hmm ima buy sifu but dying light on pc with coop is so fun I got 24 hours in and half way thru the story just doing parkour and stuff and graphics
I played this game on the 6th for about 9 straight hours. LOVE IT! This game is awesome! Controls are tough but once you get them down, it is satisfying.
I've been playing it all night last night, and I ended up getting to the 3rd level, but I found my age too far, so I started redoing the early levels to try and bring my age down more. I can get through the first zone with no deaths and the second zone with 3 to 4 deaths. Honestly it's the last two that get me, the two disciples before the main boss of zone 2. i hate them so much and cannot get passed there without dying a couple of times. The boss itself is easy once you know his attack pattern. dodge dodge dodge dodge attack attack. I used the shrine to put points into the focus regain which fills up the focus bar as you avoid. And then low sweep kick to put in extra posture damage. This game gives me mad Sekiro vibes and Sekiro is one of my favorite games of all time. Games that just test out your reflexes are *finger kiss*
I always end up watching these before you buys at least three times: on release, when I’ve saved enough to buy the game to get hyped, and when I finally get the game to have a sort of intro.
@@ICantSeeYourRepliesDickhead it’s a bit challenging at first, but once you get the hang of parrying and avoiding attacks, unlocking skills, etc. it becomes very engaging, addictive even. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but you need to get into the mindset that it is not meant to be beat in a single play through or just once. I will say something though, nobody told me that you could spare the lives of the bosses and that is quite satisfying, once you figure out how to do it well. I recommend you play it. Have a nice day

If you learn the parry timing and the weave dodge (spacebar+ w or s for keyboard), it gets a lot easier. 90% of enemy attacks can be dodged by a downwards dodge, you just gotta watch out for the occasional sweep.

I love the art and the design of each level. Jake also said he's never played anything like it. For me combat wise it's a perfect blend of sleeping dogs, batman arkham series. And ghost of tsushima.
I mean not only that, but it teaches that revenge isn't the answer. While that's something that games have gone a bit overkill on, I think Sifu handled it really well.
The combat reminds me of Sleeping Dogs, which in it's day had unique combat moves. This looks like keeper if you like fighting games and don't mind grinding to get better.
What would be a more interesting idea for a game is like Sifu with the aging, but the wipeout of the gang stretches over several decades. It would be longer and more linear, and as the game progresses, you would get older and older, and become more and more renowned and infamous. Dying would just speed up aging.
It's probably already been commented but anyone who is enjoying this game and loves the mechanics check out Absolver, it's another Sloclap game. It's hands down the best competitive fighting game i've ever played. Mix and match your entire move set from an enormous catalogue of moves to create 100% unique fight styles, create characters, enjoy the art style and the world they've created and hopefully keep these guys making amazing games with these mechanics.
I’ve been excited as can be for this game and I have not been disappointed. I’ve been replaying the levels until I don’t die and it’s been a blast to master the mechanics. If you’re unsure about the game, wait for a sale, but if you enjoyed Sekiro and like roguelites, this will scratch an itch you may have! 10/10 for me, might be my GOTY depending on how Elden Ring and the Star Wars Lego game are!
I'm honestly really excited for this game. Sekiro is one of my favorite games because I love the combat and I can totally see this game scratching that same itch for me.
@@josephpayne2253 idk, it gets alot harder as you progress, plus if your looking to platinum the game which needs you to clear it at under the age 25 then your really looking at a challenge. I beat the first level on my first try at like age 22. Then the second level absolutely bodied me. I have since beaten it but perhaps they could have done more of a gradual climb in difficulty instead of the 0 to 100 climb the game gives you. It creates this kinda awkward early game where you are grinding out the first level over a few times just to learn the game better and unlock some skills before you even get into the second level proper.
I got u bro, I spend like 4 hours to finish the first boss with 20 years, I almost cry of exciment, the 2 boss the lowest age for me is 40 and the third boss always get me super old, such difficult beach
One of my favorite gameplay sections of Sleeping Dogs was the combat and the street brawls. That got me into Absolver, which was fun though I didn’t finish it. Then Midnight Fight Express. With Sifu at $13.99 I’m gonna have to finally buy it.
Great review, as always. This game has been on my radar for a long time. I got the delux edition and been having an absolute blast!! Hands down one of my top 3 games of 2022 and one of best games I've played ever. Yes ever. 31 years old and even playing games since like Madden 95 lol. This game is fun as hell. Hard as hell but rewarding in return. You feel like a total bad ass in this game. When you have a good run and just absolutely wrecking the enemy... it's something no other game has done. You can really see the hard work and creativity sloclap put into this game.
the only ball they dropped is the voice acting (imo)
i would've LOVED some Cantonese voice acting just as an option, or at the very least make the English 80s-dub corny/goofy
obviously this game isn't about much other than gameplay, but a better voice cast would've really pushed it over the edge into greatness
How does the combat system translate from absolver? I loved absolver, and it’s highly customizable combat forms.
The two endings in this game are bad... Also the last battle is pretty anti climatic, but the rest of the game is dope

I'm just glad they went from absolver, which I loved but forced pvp was soo annoying, even with a perfect setup. Sifu being just a single player sounds like the perfect evolution, and they would do well to add on to it for more runs, styles, outfits, challenge modes, anything that keeps the game going
Challenge modes...as if the game itself isn't challenging enough 😂 fuckin masochists lol
This is the same developers? I had thought it really looked like that game, which in my opinion was a hidden gem (but the pvp only certainly hurt it badly). This really is great to see; I agree.

@ANOTHER LOST ACCOUNT blame the martial art that the game was based on then
it's a pretty sweet game, my only problem with it is that I wish there were more levels and environments to play through.

I haven't play this game yet but I highly doubt the combat is better than Arkham Knight
8:35 The enemies being able to accidentally hit each other is a nice comical detail 👌

Very true.

I love games that accommodate to specific audiences. They tend to hold a special magic, and for a game like Sifu, I love the magic of challenge.

Same dude, with Dying Light I just thought it was ok but I'm really happy with Sifu.
@@keotastrophe3715 hmm ima buy sifu but dying light on pc with coop is so fun I got 24 hours in and half way thru the story just doing parkour and stuff and graphics
Omg… the old boy homage at 1:58 is awesome!
I’m already in love with the game I can’t put it down
I’m really enjoying this game, plus the grinding doesn’t bother me at all.
The corridor fight around the 2 minute mark reminds me of the corridor scene in Old Boy 😎
I played this game on the 6th for about 9 straight hours. LOVE IT! This game is awesome! Controls are tough but once you get them down, it is satisfying.
I doubt that 9 hours loll but nice great to hear

I thought it was really unique how the intro credits are intertwined with fight tutorials and sets up that badass kungfu vibe
Been waiting for this video all day! Can't wait to play more later! Getting my old Jackie Chan game from PS craving in.
I need to play that.
@@ROCK_UNIVERSE97 I just played the intro and it was fun stuff. Going to be a learning curve type game.
I know Jake's been waiting for this one 😂👍
I always end up watching these before you buys at least three times: on release, when I’ve saved enough to buy the game to get hyped, and when I finally get the game to have a sort of intro.
Today I watch it because I bought the game
@@diegoparga9324 how’s it been Diego?
@@ICantSeeYourRepliesDickhead it’s a bit challenging at first, but once you get the hang of parrying and avoiding attacks, unlocking skills, etc. it becomes very engaging, addictive even. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but you need to get into the mindset that it is not meant to be beat in a single play through or just once. I will say something though, nobody told me that you could spare the lives of the bosses and that is quite satisfying, once you figure out how to do it well. I recommend you play it. Have a nice day
@@diegoparga9324 you too thank you for the reply. I will pick it up when im done with Elden ring, I hope all your poops for the rest of this month are smooth and cause no problems
@@ICantSeeYourRepliesDickhead such a nice thing to say! Thanks.
I want to love it but I'm struggling hard with it, getting frustrated with the difficulty and starting to regret my purchase but your video has inspired me to stick with it and give it a solid try before throwing in the towel, here's hoping it pays off.
If you learn the parry timing and the weave dodge (spacebar+ w or s for keyboard), it gets a lot easier. 90% of enemy attacks can be dodged by a downwards dodge, you just gotta watch out for the occasional sweep.
Looks like it's a vast improvement over the studio's last game, Absolver. I'm excited to get my hands on a physical copy of this.
Ah, that had my hopes high for a moment before realizing physical copy is PS only and not PC... oh well, next year it is then.
@@tehvalheru Ah, a fellow lover/preserver of physical media I see. A person after my own heart. I completely understand where you're coming from. If this wasn't physical, I wouldn't be bothered with it right now either. Fortunately, I just happen to be a PlayStation user.
The amount of health that fall took at 4:00 I would’ve lost my shit 😂😭
This game brings "old man strength" to a new meaning
I’ve been looking forward to this for months, didn’t preorder, and I cannot over emphasize how relieving it is to have this turn out well.
I have been looking forward to this game so much that this is the only game I've ever pre-ordered
@@Obi-wan5991 That’s awesome to hear! It did not disappoint!
@@NoobieSnake it's great for sure, but I feel like they need to patch the parry a bit because it hardly registers. So for now I'm trying to adapt and get good at the game. I love the art and the design of each level. Jake also said he's never played anything like it. For me combat wise it's a perfect blend of sleeping dogs, batman arkham series. And ghost of tsushima.
@@Obi-wan5991 the parry is gonna be like that, it is meant to be used at the last second of an attack just like real life.
@@SCLHP666 still no complaints though, fucking love this game
I love the hallway fight where the camera view looks like a side scroller. It is so cool. I only made it to boss 2 before I was game over
I went in only see the combat, and I heard about the aging mechanic. So far I’m loving it! Super addictive
I love how this game also teaches a valuable lesson in life.
Want to be good at something? You can do it through repetition.
I mean not only that, but it teaches that revenge isn't the answer. While that's something that games have gone a bit overkill on, I think Sifu handled it really well.
I realised I've watch countless BYBs and never subbed. Honestly excellent content, never stop 🤘
The combat reminds me of Sleeping Dogs, which in it's day had unique combat moves. This looks like keeper if you like fighting games and don't mind grinding to get better.
When I first saw this game I really thought itd be simple and honestly kind of boring but really this is the most engaging fight system I've seen yet.
What would be a more interesting idea for a game is like Sifu with the aging, but the wipeout of the gang stretches over several decades. It would be longer and more linear, and as the game progresses, you would get older and older, and become more and more renowned and infamous. Dying would just speed up aging.
This Game is Hard in the Best way a game should be!! Been playing since the early release and it is an exiting genuine combat experience!! 9/10
Thanks, this looks like a really interesting game. From the description it reminded me of Katana Zero a bit.
Curious now how it holds up against the other two games
This game looks super unique! I’ll be keeping an eye on it for sales 🙂
30$ standard edition now
Favorite parts to the game..you can use bottles, chairs and my personal favorite..drain pipes.
I'm honestly really excited for this game. Sekiro is one of my favorite games because I love the combat and I can totally see this game scratching that same itch for me.
This game is easier compared to sekiro so don't even compare the two
@@josephpayne2253 idk, it gets alot harder as you progress, plus if your looking to platinum the game which needs you to clear it at under the age 25 then your really looking at a challenge. It's different than Sekiro but comparable difficulty. I honestly think Sekiro was too hard and I have platinumed all the soulsborne games. Sekiros difficulty made the game less fun which is a balance the aforementioned soulsborne games have always maintained better. There is fun difficulty, and there is unfun difficulty.
@@josephpayne2253 mmm don’t know, like I beat sekiro and like the other guy planitum bloodborne and the dark souls series, but I suffer in sekiro but not got stuck in the bosses a lot except the fire big monster, this game got me something that I want to finish with 26 years old or less for the platinum but I can’t get it and I love it
Only with the owl I think that was his name, the final boss and the fire dude were the bosses that I need to repeat like a lot xd but for platinum I didn’t find it hard, this game is harder for me to platinum, in my experience, don’t know u
I’ve been loving it, but there’s definitely a learning curve; I was stuck on the second boss for like 4 hours
LMAO 🤣
I beat the first level on my first try at like age 22. Then the second level absolutely bodied me. I have since beaten it but perhaps they could have done more of a gradual climb in difficulty instead of the 0 to 100 climb the game gives you. It creates this kinda awkward early game where you are grinding out the first level over a few times just to learn the game better and unlock some skills before you even get into the second level proper.
2nd Boss is Brutal gotta learn his movements like older games
I found the 3rd boss the hardest, since her moves are really hard to read, and playing it safe is tedious with her.
I bought it near the end of December of 2023 currently on the museum stage, the game is difficult but extremely fun once you get used to it .
The combat , fluidity , brutality, all hyped with great music and graphics.
These devs knocked it out of the park. Amazing work.
