  • Come learn how to make a 2 sided quilt with really soft and warm Minky Luxe fabric. Some people know this as cuddle fabric or spell it minke. We got this fabric from Going to Pieces Quilt Connection in Appleton, Wi. They are our next door neighbors and we just love their shop. Here is a link to their website

Nice work. Looks so warm. Have you ever made a pieced quilt top with Minky (not the Luxe version)? I am about to attempt to make a quilt top with pieced Minky with a Minky backing. I think I will try the no binding version that you did in the video.

      Hello!
Yes, you can piece any type of the minky fabric. A 1/2” seam will hold better than a 1/4” seam so just make sure to use that.
I haven’t tried sewing the minky lux on a regular sewing machine through the middle. I did find that using a walking foot (even feed foot) did help prevent too much stretching when sewing the edges together on my domestic sewing machine.
      Happy Quilting!!

Love it! And, yes, minky is very messy to cut. BTW, I absolutely love the size of your cutting table, lucky lady!

Beautiful Angie! With the quilting it looks like mink!!! I've been working with a fluffy fabric making protective covers and it looks like I've been either shearing sheep or plucking chickens!

Lovely! Can they be machine washed & dried? Does adding a thin bamboo batting keep the fur from migrating from one side to the other when long arming? Did you use a 2.5 stitch length with the walking foot?

Thank you!! Yes it can be washed and dried no problem! I didn’t add any batting and this did not pull through at all. I’ve done some with batting on regular minky and did help the pull through. I don’t know what my stitch length was… I just turn it on and sew! :) the walking foot was a huge help!
