My Astra has this problem. It usually comes on (the warning message) after about 5 mins of driving or when the engine has warmed up. Just wondering why you didn't try the easier option of loosening the float in the tank first instead of buying and replacing the sensor
I'm having to top up the coolant in my j every couple weeks. One mechanic said it was a leaking pipe and it was replaced. The problem was still there, last time I topped it up I could see it leaking from the expansion tank from near the clip on the front right side. Taken it back to a different mechanic and told them where its coming from...thinking there's a split in the plastic or something. They've said it's the thermostat housing. 🤷🏼♀️
Hi, on Astra j 1.7cdti, the coolant level has no min/max marks on it. I see only a longer line with a up pointed arrow so i assume that is the minimum level. Can you tell me where is the maximum level? Thanks
You ask yourself what engineers was smoking to place the sensor under the bottle.Common sence people do it from the top.Wiring short and yes thanks for not using heavy language here.
Done 3 of these now. Fitted new bottle every time. Not that expensive and main dealers keep in stocks. Not ever had a comeback. Old ones leak as well from the seal on the sensor.
Where you able to remove the tank? Mine is also stuck. In addition, since my car is LH drive, the brake fluid reservoir is right next to the tank so there is minimal with space!!
Replaced the sensor. Can't get to float (Zafira B) so changed the whole bottle. Still the same problem. I wanted to check the fuse but I can't find it. Any ideas?

Astras in general are a bloody nuisance with this fault. I have a petrol 1.6 and it is on its third sensor and bottle. The new sensors and bottles are no better as they are old stock of faulty units.
My Astra is a pain. A year ago I put in a new bottle and float. Cured it for about a month, then I fitted a new thermostat housing and pipe. Okay again for about six months and now the light is back. Not using any coolant though.
Hi. As a suggestion, after you film the operation and so the processing where you add intro to the video. Make sure you level the volume of every sound in the video to be equal, music from intro is not ok to be louder than your voice.
Funny I got a vectra C V6 and I see that astra use the same float round metal thing in the tank and use the same stupid level sensor.. Opel did not learn a thing.. Good fix do.
Great .Thanks.!!! YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO FIND AND GIVE SOLUTION FOR THIS SILLY BUT HARD TO SEE PROBLEM. WELL, DONE THANKS AGAIN.👍
Grazie mille per il video. Ho cambiato vari sensori e alla fine grazie a te ho scoperto che il problema era nel galleggiante.
Hi have you ever taken the lower rad hose off that has the push fit grip bar. I can't get the hose back on at all.

same here, if you already fixed it, could you tell me what the problem was?
@martinwinkler102 in case the thermostat housing was on its way out until it eventually leaked and cracked. Got it replaced and everything is fine

That means we need to clean the bottle and it works, thanks.
How did you detach the lead from the sensor switch? Didn’t show it in the video.

I carnt seem to get my bottle of seems like something from the bottom is holding it down

We used to but we have had to prioritize smaller roadside repairs as they are too much hassle to do mobile
