It's been a long time since I thought about doing this Samurai vs Jedi content and I finally made it happen! I've put my heart into this project and I hope you all enjoy it!

It was refreshing to see some genuine katana techniques and stances.

That's because Jedi fighting stances and kenjutsu ones, are similar but the moves are different or modified on purpose.
Even in the star wars universe, the idea of a Samurai who gets introduced to either Jedi or Sith teachings, as well as the force, would make for a seriously interesting series to watch! I'd 100% love to see more of this!
Star Wars light saber fight was apparently influenced by Kenjutsu so this story could set way before Star Wars original trilogy and maybe this samurai actually inspired Jedi to incorporate the Japanese sword fight style...

I would love a series about Jedi going around the galaxy finding force sensitives. All the different planets and cultures they could explore, etc.
That's actually a fun idea. If other creators from different cultural background could make their own version and those characters could cross paths each other in crossover episodes...

What a blend of classic Jedi and Kurosawa esthetics. This deserves to go viral and reach the eyes of more Star Wars fans. Excellent crossover and beautiful cinematography. Also dig the Toshiro Mifune vibes and great music. Good job.

よくあるチャンバラアクションや、剣道もどき、西洋の剣運びでなどではこういう迫力は出ませんから。

This is very well done. The fight was actually realistic, not just hitting blades off each other but actually trying to make contact with the opponent. As well as throwing in a kick or two , complimenting the actual weight of combat. Very well done!
Our goal was to keep it entertaining but also realistic enough so I guess we might have achieved it then!🙏🏼

Man...this captured that Kurosawa use of wide-screen more than I expected it to. This looks really good. More younger people/audiences need to know about Kurosawa and his connection to Star Wars. Kurosawa really was the Eastern John Ford in that he never made a bad film..
The samurai actor sounds like he's having a great time, I love it. It would be fun to see a far future sequel where he's become a proper jedi.

新時代なんて出るからワンピースの曲流れながら新ジェダイはこーの未來さとか踊りだすのかと思いきや、懐かしく和を感じるいい動画でした。下段構えで風なびく所とか美しいなと。

When Nick Gillard taught lightsaber choreography it was required that the actors study Kendo. This movie is brilliant. It reminds me of the duel between Luke and Vader in Star Wars V and VI. May the force be with you!
I like it, it's cleverly put together. And the concept of Jedi coming to earth to recruit swordsmen as potential recruits is interesting. The story could also be expanded a bit to include well any warrior of that era. I could even imagine a Jedi or Sith coming to Europe or even the Carribean to face a European officer or Pirate. " Can you think of it? The Jedi Captain Jack Sparrow?" Can't do much of a Johnny Depp impression in a comment space but you get the idea.

The shot with the Jedi being at a slight height incline and the samurai being low, then with there stances was an excellent shot composition and framing. Well done. the music was stellar too. Hope this blows up

いやー面白かったです。
まずタイトル、ジェダイと時代をかけるという粋な内容、
そして黒沢明といえば、ジョージ・ルーカスがスターウォーズを作る際に何よりも参考にしたという、世界的に有名な映画監督。
もうこのつかみの時点で、名作という雰囲気は醸し出ていました。
内容も黒沢明作品っぽく、風景画に溶け込むような人影というスタイルではじまり、
真剣勝負なのかふざけてるのかもわからない、いやおそらくどちらもというような試合で、笑いあり白熱ありの面白さ。
一応はファンメイドという形なのでしょうが、比較的質素でありながらも、今まで観てきたファンメイド作品の中でもトップクラスの面白さでした。
ライトセイバーを重さの均等性がとれていないだの、柄も握りにくいなどとメタなことをのべており、「確かにｗ」
っと笑わせてもらいました。

どのように黒澤映画の要素を取り入れつつ、スターウォーズのファンフィルムを作るかというところで色々試行錯誤しながら撮影しました。もっとこだわりたい所も勿論ありましたが、低予算の割には上手くできたかなと自分でも思っています。

What’s beautiful is. The old EU books had the Jedi start out with Katana and Dao before lightsabers were created and they looked like samurai as well.

As a fellow Kurosawa fan, this was very well done. The small moment shots of the environment, to the music, and that journey to a destination. You're performance reminded me of many of Mifune's characters, in particular the Seven Samurai. Keep up the good work. Very entertaining.

Why a group of like 10 people can make a better story, choreography and acting than Disney that has millions of dollars and thousands of workers?

I've seen many fan made lightsaber cpmbat videos, with veery elaborate choreographys, but this, this video was noticeable more interesting to watch, i truly enjoy it, keep it up

This was fun to watch. Classic samurai, and space samurai yup, I'm all in on that. Also the attention to detail with the lightsaber, and the grass nice.

I love this taste of Akira Kurosawa, Japanese famous director.
Man this is insane! I hope this gets all the attention it deserves and perhaps some casting roles. I recently got on a samurai binge after completing Tsushima and while it took me a while to get to the Kurosawa classics, I totally see the heart of those films in this. The weeds, the music, the wandering ronin, pretty sure Old Jedi did the shoulder thing that Sanjuro does lol. If he's available, we should get Daisuke-san in one of these! Unless of course, there's already something cooking up. Would die to see you both in a Ghost of Tsushima live action.

Very well put together. Excellent cinematography, well done & appropriate f/x, grayscale w/ slight color-grading (for lightsabers) perfect. As a cinema fan, a Star Wars fan, and a fan of everything Japanese (side note: my mom was raised in Kobe), I have not one thing to say. Impressed, I am. 🤙🏼

@@ToruUchikado Most welcome. Watching that video also brought back a good memory of my uncle, from a few years before he passed away. Shortly after my soon-to-be ex-wife, and I, got married, I called my uncle to wish him a "Happy Birthday". In the call, I also (verbally) introduced him to my wife. She sang him "Happy Birthday" in Japanese. Now, you have to understand, he is no any-part Japanese, and, other than a couple of business trips over the years, and one vacation trip, to Japan, he hadn't been in Japan since the mid 1950s. After she finished, he said, "You know. I don't remember much of any Japanese." Well, my wife started speaking to him in Japanese...and, it was like everything came back to him. Within a minute, they were conversing in Japanese, just as if he had never moved back to Hawaii. He's been gone almost 4 years now, and I miss him (as well as my mom, who passed away a year ago).
Granted, there is no Japanese (or any Asian nationality) in us...they lived on a U.S. military base, as my papa was the Chief Warrant Officer for the base in Kobe...but, it was because of them that I gained an interest, and an appreciation, for everything Japanese - the food, the culture, and, most importantly, the history. One of these days, I hope to be able to be able to afford to go there. I don't want to visit the usual tourist areas...I want to see the real Japan - Kyushu (especially Nagasaki & Mount Aso), Shiretoko National Park, and too many others to name. While I know Tokyo & Kyoto are both supposed to be 'wonderful', I want to see rural Japan.

Gripping. Sparse and economical, yet with the full story still being present and accounted for. The blending of musical styles - including the Kurosawa-inspired Spaghetti Western sound mimicking Morricone is VERY cheeky, but very appropriate. Wonderful!

This was delightful. Excellent concept and execution, and a great sense of fun. I loved the Korusawa / spaghetti western inspired score! I love the commitment to having the Samurai speaking Japanese and the Jedi speaking English. One of my favorite Star Wars fan films I've ever seen.
So glad to have done this in both languages since I almost did this project entirely in English including Samurai's lines!! I'm also in love with this score my composer made!🤙🏼❤️

ジェダイとサムライの品格を貶めることなく、素晴らしい試合を見せてくれた。

Ok. Ok. I'm gonna keep it a 100% I honestly didn't expect you to use any Japanese katana martial arts in the video but you did many times. I am pleased and impressed how you were able to make it fit in with a lightsaber considering they aren't katanas. Love it
And that sword play masterpiece I couldn't tell if he was using an actual saber form or not though.

At the age of 40 i picked up nunchaku and am mastering it. I had to give up a lifelong skateboard career because my head neck collar bones shoulders hips knees ankles all gave out so i picked up other physical hobbies. So in my opinion jedi should be able to teach any age the ways of the force.
