You are so right about what makes Tool a great band. In recording and production, there's something called "point of interest." It's basically using mixing tricks to add little bits of flair here and there to accentuate parts of the song. Or it could just be bringing the vocals up in one part, etc. With Tool, the whole song is a point of interest, always. Every sound, every snare hit, every riff is so purposeful. I look forward to seeing a lot more of your reactions.
