  • I walk around the local part of khan el khalili, the oldest market in Cairo. The chaos is absolutely fascinating, and on the way, I meet several friendly people, and I try some local food. Enjoy the incredible atmosphere of the chaos of Cairo, the biggest city in Africa.

Along the street; The salesman, the sounds of cars, the smiles of children, the rush of people and your sincerity towards people were all in harmony. I felt like I was walking the streets of Egypt with you. This is a very enjoyable feeling.

Just got back from Egypt, loved every second of it, I have to agree with your statement that Egyptians are very friendly and warm people. I did not see so called "scammers", they are just hard working people who gets very little help from government.

Wow..with all your travels across the Middle East I was surprised you had never tried prickly pear before. They are a real treat. They are delicious, fleshy and juicy but have hard pips inside. Here in the UK they are impossible to find as they are all imported. Most people only ever see them growing wild by the roadside on their trips around the southern Mediterranean and even then, would never dream of trying them..They don't know what they are missing.

In all my life, i've never been mugged or stopped by anyone despite living in a not so safe area for over 11 years. Especially now, Egypt has become very safe because a lot of theft happened when the revolution started 10 years ago, but now it is much better. I actually went to NYC a couple of years ago and landed at 2 am. I was honestly very scared while waking to the hotel, I felt like I was about to get jumped at every corner. Maybe I have superstitions, I don't know, but egypt always feels safer to me

You break the outer skin by biting off the little nodule on the edge of the bean, then you squeeze the bean into your mouth by squeezing it out of the skin with your thumb and forefinger.
