This video will explain why hunger won't get worse and worse while fasting and why keeping your blood glucose and insulin low & why trying a keto diet will help you adapt to fasting a lot easier.
When I first started doing intermittent fasting, handling the hunger was quite difficult. I tried several things to try and make myself less hungry without breaking the fast, but what was most helpful was knowing that it would go away on its own, and why this was the case. So, I hope that this video helps those of you trying out prolonged or intermittent fasting - hunger is pretty much inescapable, there is going to be some level of discomfort when trying out fasting, but it's very encouraging to know that things will change and hunger will naturally go away.
    Sections:
0:59 - Why hunger is rhythmic & doesn't just get stronger over time
3:13 - Why low Salt may be cause of your hunger while fasting
    5:00 - How Insulin works
    5:36 - How Glucagon works
6:10 - Insulin Makes you Hungry, Glucagon doesn't
    7:51 - Ketones/Ketosis & Hunger
9:27 - Why you shouldn't go overboard on protein
9:59 - Letpin, the satiety hormone

Honestly, I’ve tried to diet to lose extra pounds but Intermittent Fasting is so much better because I don’t even have to think about what I can and can’t eat. Just avoiding food altogether completely removes the hassle. I actually enjoy feeling hungry and finally satisfying that hunger with balanced food. You really feel your body utilising your food and it forces you to be more mindful of what you eat.
For me, intermittent fasting has been the best and easiest form of staying healthy.

I did IF for over two years and it was absolutely perfect. (No hunger, no hassle, no decreased performance.) I didn't even accompany it with a high fat diet (I struggle with fats both in flavour and how my body reacts, trying to slowly up my intake.)
But now I'm at a low weight I really notice my body being unhappy about it, I'm still in a healthy BMI-range, but it just screams for food by making me cold, lethargic and light-headed. Now I'm honestly unsure what to do, I don't want to gain weight, I don't want to reduce my activity, I don't want to exclude foods from my diet but I also don't want to even bother thinking about food the majority of the day. Hence I'm binging all these videos.
I hope increasing my fat intake, I don't mind missing any non-vegetable carbs, but I love my protein.

As a person who practices the OMAD (one meal a day) style of intermittent fasting, which means I go without food for about 23 hours, at a time, not only can I attest to the efficacy of intermittent fasting to break plateaus in weight loss, but I can also attest to the fact that ones sensation of hunger does dissipate over time if one consistently practices intermittent fasting. I used to get hungry nearly every 4 hours, thus "requiring" me to eat nearly 4 times a day, sometimes 5. While it was tough at first to reduce my meal frequency, since I did it gradually - going from 4 meals, to 3 then to 2 and finally to one - I adjusted to it quite well. Now I go without food for long periods of time effortless. It is quite liberating.

The motivations for different diets are not only body composition and what your tastebuds like, but also these mental effects that people only can understand when they have tried it over a acceptable period of time, hence why few people understand why some of us are trying out different diets and researching this. I started living the keto life 3 months ago and went with a 22hr fast and 2hr eat window and will never go back. I weighed 287lbs when I started and am already down to 220lbs. I randomly do a 3 to 5 day fast to keep my body guessing and actually feel better on the 3rd, 4th, or 5th day. I've lost 65lbs in less than 3 months and feel amazing.

Growing up in Ethiopia, we used to practice fasting a good amount of times throughout the year for religious reasons (Ethiopian Orthodoxy). I started doing it around 13 years of age because my mom and all the adults did it. I only started eating twice a day then eventually switched to once a day. During this time, I run and played soccer at school and still did not want to eat. I felt good, I felt sharp. During the fasting period, no animal products are allowed at all. Only foods that comes from the Earth. Towards the end of one main fasting period, if you feel as though you can do it: you are allowed to go 3 days without food or water. That was a great experience and I did it only once or twice. The sad part for me was when we broke the fast and you start eating normally and go back to the animal products. You can feel the sluggishness, the fogginess, the sleep-all-day-because-I-need-time-for-digestion disease comes back. Now, I am here in the US and I switched back to fasting everyday. My friends, try it and see where it takes you. This is old knowledge being re-discovered again. The monks do it and it is said, “they used to survive on only one grain of wheat a day”. Is it true? I don’t know 🤷‍♂️ but I am on one meal a day and my life seems simpler and easier. I sleep better and I go to the bathroom less. FYI: I still run around and play soccer.

Of course my tolerance to colder temperatures is reduced at wake up time. Salt and Complex Starch ( Yams, Whole corn etc) !

However the past month I'd been eating HORRIBLY on a daily basis and my visceral fat increased to the point where my abs could no longer be seen. I also wasn't training so I assumed all the muscle had wasted due to inactivity. As it's Ramadan now in the UK I've been fasting every day for 16-18 hours. We are currently on day 11 and I have to honestly say It took about 6 to 7 days for my abs to show up again. CLEARLY! lool. Your body's metabolism switches to burning fat over the long periods of no food. I thought all hope was lost Haha. Clearly not, and after Ramadan finishes I aim to maintain consistency in my training and go back to a healthier diet. I was quite shocked

I've been intermittent fasting for the past 3 years combined with dieting/light gym. In 6 months lost 35lb, by the end of the year I lost 50 pounds.
After about a year and a half I stopped dieting but continue to fast/light workouts at home. It does get easier, you're body adapts to it and becomes second nature. It's kept me from snacking at night which I often did. When I would wake up I didn't feel bloated or like I didn't want to get out of bed, I felt ready to go no coffee even needed (which surprised even me).
For anyone wondering mine was the 16/8 fast. Stopped eating at 6pm, breakfast at 10am. Sometimes would have a mid-day low carb snack and drink some water/iced green tea/mineral water, then eat a protein dense dinner. Once it hits 6pm, only had the drinks above and a couple hours later sleep and repeat.

I did intermittent fasting half my life without realizing lol. I couldn't eat anything for breakfast because I just had 0 appetite, I didnt make any food for school because I was just lazy lol. So the first meal I ate was at around 3-4pm after school and I wasn't hungry in school at all, but when I came home at about 3pm I was nearly starving lol. I did this nearly my entire school life and I felt fine, my weight was always very healthy. So I can confirm everything you said in the video as far as my experience with it goes.
I always felt the need to do breakfast as it's "the most important meal". But now I just keep my normal regiment, as long as it works for me. Don't let anyone talk into your habits only because it's what everyone does

If so,do you feel hungry an hour or two after you eat?

Yes, now that you ask, I usually ate a ton of carbs right after school. Mainly because that's what we had lol. Usually I would eat rice, potatoes, buckwheat, sometimes but more rarely noodles. And most of the time we would also have salmon or meat with it and a salad.
I would say I was kinda hungry after 3-4h but not in a way where I had to consume a whole meal for dinner. I usually snacked until bedtime on frozen raspberries, nuts etc and drank a lot of tea. Hope that helped

I unfourtunately didn't have breakfast either but I ended up having one because I kept hearing "breakfast is the most important meal of the day". I hate whenever I hear something like that or other myths like eating 99999 times a day to be skinny and so on

I can now fast for 72 hours. I started with 14 hours then increased it eventually. I lost almost 165 pounds in 4 months. This is great.
I practice NoMaD, meaning no meal a day. This video helped me a lot. I have fewer worries now. Plus I am more active. I can go on 4 to 6 hours of workout daily.
