What do I eat for my meal? Usually a variant of this: imgur.com/a/WrPqt (This is from two years back, my diet is pretty different now) Also, the gif makes it look like I eat a massive quantity of food, but it's simply showing "before preparation" and "after preparation" (the purple looking drink is simply the vegetables blended up)
Most of my references are covered in the blog post above, if there is anything missing please let me know!

My father lived 105 years (1914-2019). From about 70 years he never had dinner. Only lunch. He eats his dinner early morning as breakfast. Almost never got sick. Just passed away naturally two days after telling me on the phone: Don't worry, I am not ill, just old.

I have been naturally drawn to eating one meal a day, for the last five years! I don't eat breakfast, skip lunch as I often don't have time, and often miss an evening meal. So generally eat one meal per day. I don't buy crisps, sweets, bisquits, cakes or chocolate... so don't snack. At 58 yrs old, my blood sugar levels are excellent - no risk of diabetes! And blood pressure levels are very low for a man of my age. I don't consume large quantities of carbs, seldom eat pasta or bread. Don't drink coffee, tea or cocoa, so don't buy milk or sugar, don't need to! I have energy levels through the roof!! And can out perform people way younger than me.... they get tired within an hour! Simple! Don't consume crap Your body dosnt need. Would love to see critical scientific studies that prove this - I am living it.

homunculus7 not true. I was a professional athlete, a thoroughbred race jockey, eating salad, fruits, some meat once a day. Today, I’m still eating just once a day. Perhaps a little yogurt with my vitamins in the morning. I’m still very active and am into my 60’s. Zero vaccines, zero pills. I’ve NEVER been to a doctor for health. Seriously.
Ladies, use the NO HORMONE IUD. I had it removed one month, I was pregnant the very next month...after having the same tiny copper IUD for 17 years.
I did well at university, eating once a day. I walked out of my science lab job...and followed my love of horses. No regrets. Riding years ago, I was about 100Lbs., today my scale says 105. Skipped two lower grades, but, I suppose I inherited the high IQ, as well as the athleticism.
Also, I have an aversion to bread. Whole grain cooked cereal with pumpkin seeds, poppy seeds, etc....but, ZERO bread my whole life. I’m fine. I couldn’t even eat the hot dog bun as a child.

Actually, drinking can help flush the intestines a bit, push the food further and spread it out more evenly. That will also loosen up some muck and ease absorption thanks to a larger absorption surface. So drinking water will definitely make you less hungry. But make sure you drink only after you've digested the meal you want flushed for a few hours. Otherwise you'll mainly dilute the already digesting content, causing a more pumped up stomach, which is not optimal.

Couldn't agree more. In long-distance hiking the term 'hiker hunger' exists, which basically means permanent hunger after the first one or two months of hiking. This is mainly because one burns around 4000 calories a day. I wonder if fasting/ketosis could have any positive effects in mitigating this phenomenon.

My entire family has been on OMAD since I can remember. We were poor living in New York City and had to make ends meet. My sister and I would only eat the school lunch which was free for us. We ate everything on the tray and even ate from kids that did not want their jello. My parents would make a huge pot of some type of stew with whatever meat was on sale that week. My father would take it to work every day along with a huge slice of bread. My mother made the bread to last the week. Little did I know that was the bread that these days hipsters call country bread that costs a pretty penny. My mother ate at work which was leftover food from conference rooms she cleaned at a fancy law firm. That was her meal. We were healthy and never seemed hungry. This was in the 1970s and 1980s. We continued to eat the same way even when we did have more money. OMAD was a way of life for us. I am 57 years old and I can honestly say that I have been on OMAD for at least 50 years. My parents are in their 80s and are not on any medication. They have slowed down but are otherwise healthy. I raised my children on OMAD and they too are sticking with it. They find that eating more than one meal a day slows them down and they feel sluggish. They are surprised that it is only now that people are finding the benefits of OMAD

I've done One meal a day for 4-5 months now and I feel much more energized, as well as doing keto/carnivore - proper human diet, I noticed that I no longer feel really hungry for about 20 hours - so the one meal a day feels really natural. Before I used to get that severe sinking feeling of blood-sugar drop, feeling negative, down, and weak when I had not eaten for 4-5 hours, now I only feel normal hunger, with no mood drop, no dizziness, no weakness, just a normal urge for getting some food, but it isnt even like I have to have it within 2 minutes like before - I can notice the hunger and still not eat for another hour or two without any severe negative physical reactions, so all this encourages me to try actual fasting for a day or two and see where it takes me, and maybe go on to trying a whole week or something, at least on very much less food. I would not advocate it for anyone with other health problems of course, although I'm sure it can help against lots of illnesses, and all the evidence I've found so far more than suggests it can help against cancer, as more and more evidence points to glucose and sugar as the cancer cells most prized source of developing and spreading.
Thank you for sharing this as it inspired me further. All the best from Oslo, Norway.

One Meal A Day Diary I lost close to 50lbs and I didn't have to reduce the number of meals...which normally is 2 meals (meat and veggies) and, for lunch....if I'm not at gym but, 3-4 times a week that's where I am because, I like to wait until my brekkie is digested (which is ALWAYS porridge...(what I've learned to call oat meal and/or Ready Brek)) so I can exercise and burn more calories during the work out. When I return home later in day, usually a couple of hours before we eat Tea, I'll open a can of tuna, drain and add lemon juice, and eat it. For Tea we don't eat large meals...this evening I had a good sized piece of cod and a black cup of coffee. As I've said, I've managed to lose close to 50lbs which is knocking on the door of 4 stone. The biggest and best thing I've done is completely stop drinking Sodas and, my biggest addiction of Energy Drinks, especially Mt. Dew's Energy Drink. I often drank 2 litres of that shit every day! Most of my weight gain, which was a lot even tho I was never a big meal eater, was down to my love for Mt. Dew Energy Drink (not the original Mt. Dew). I also stopped eating junk food, such as crisps and cakes. Through cardio exercise and being certain I was in a Caloric Deficit every day and, giving up the crap I was drinking and eating I have not only lost weight I've trimmed 7" off of me waist....which is even more important to me. I desperately want to get back into my 36" waist jeans and out of the XXL and XXXL clothing I had to wear. I still need to lose a further 2" off me waist to achieve that goal but, I will do it! I was in denial about my weight for too long because, I wasn't eating a lot and only drinking crap. I was shocked when I hit 7" mark and, still couldn't snap those jeans! I got injured in 2004, which caused me to be in a plaster....on me leg....with 0 weight bearing, 3 separate times, and I haven't worn jeans, or any other trousers, for 14 years now! I've only been at this for about 5 months, so far. As long as a person consumes less calories than they have managed to burn, they will lose weight...exercise is not really needed to lose weight but, it helps in other areas as well. I will stick to this until I reach my goal of weight loss and inches lost on waist then, I want to add more muscle. I'll be 56 in Jan and, I want to, hopefully, be at or very near my goal. I believe this can be a life changing course and, something I believe I can follow the rest of my life!

Congratulation! This is a big achievement. You are correct about calories in -calories out. It doesn't matter how. OMAD is easier for me, but not the only way. I love a big meal, better than 2-3 smaller meals. I count calories not to overeat. No soda drinks for me as well. I used to drink Cola a lot. Not anymore. No sweets, but fruits. So sugars at all. Not something I need or crave. I am 41 and very happy to loose almost 50 pounds. I got about 40 pounds to go, but I am already feel healthy and light. Went from size 41 to 34 in 3 months. OMAD was the best solution for me. I don't work out. I do swim a little, that's all. Good luck! Thanks for sharing your story.

I've already been doing just this... eating one meal a day. I've also cut out meat (well, to be honest, mammals, I still eat chicken). I can eat what I want, but I eat one meal a day. I do try to eat well, but not obsessed by it. I've dropped weight to correct BMI. (171cm / 56 yrs old / 64kg) I've also stopped drinking alcohol. I sleep 8 hours - beautifully. I can CERTAINLY recommend making the change. The hardest part is getting my friends to accept my change, always pushing me to drink, eat more. (not surprisingly, they're all overweight)
I NEVER thought i could stop drinking, it has ALWAYS been a big part of my lifestyle... but now, I can't imagine going back to me old unhealthy self.

The more people learning about fasting the happier I am. I used to do a 16hr fast every day when I started, but over the last year I've gone to a 23hr fast. I have lost over 80kg and am finally in my ideal weight range for my height. No diet. No exercise. Simply fasting for 23hrs with nothing but water. Surprisingly I find it easier having one less thing (food) through the day to be thinking about. I don't feel guilty about having a pizza for dinner occasionally, etc. I've even got 3 colleagues onboard and even though they're only doing 12-18 hour fasts, the girl doing an 18hr has lost 15kg and is looking excellent already. The reason I first tried this was because I heard a quote one time saying "The human body was designed to walk 25 miles a day and hunt sabretooth cats, not sit at a desk all day eating bread." and it literally changed my outlook completely. Early man would have got up on an empty stomach, done various things around the camp, then late afternoon gotten hungry and either gone foraging or hunting. Their day didn't revolve around eating and ours shouldn't either I believe.

I believe this in full because I came across this personally not because I wanted to, but because I wanted to save up some money as a student here in Nagoya, Japan. I had financial difficulties and decided to start saving up by eating less or not eating at all. The longest I stayed without food (excluding water) in my first trial was 4 days. Since those 4 days, it seemed my body adjusted (or reset); I did away with the food I once craved. In the process, my alcohol consumption was reduced in the process because I had this mentality that alcohol must be balanced with the amount of food consumed. Its been over a year now that I’ve been eating one meal in 1 to 3 days and alcohol consumption dropped to about a wine bottle a month unless, off-course, I have something to celebrate, like my birthday, etc., which I normally compensate with equivalent amount of freshly cooked food. I feel great, I lost some weight from the center, I feel much lighter and much more alert, and I realized I saved up more than I did before. Ultimately I begin to realize that the human body can survive without food after all, so what was all these eating about? In fact I believe that eating speeds up the aging process. Nature didn’t create us to consume everything, nature made us to balance the universe by taking in the right amount and giving back the right amount.

It's a ploy to spike your insulin in the mornings causing you to feel much hungrier throughout the day. The hungrier you get, the more you potentially eat and drink.
Without forcing themselves to eat every morning, many find that they can go until the evenings before eating. However, this means people spend less on food, snacks, and drinks. So businesses want you to spend, and governments want you to stimulate the economy with your spending.

While I agree that public school is not the hotbed for education and learning the alternatives are just as inaccessible as charter school or other private schooling institutions and may not even be the best for for your child because some are specialized to work on certain aspects of educational theories. Also I never really took the time to look at his sources mostly in part that I try not to look at UA-cam for education unless it’s something involving visual and auditory learning such as demonstrating a skill such as a boxing technique, acrobatics, or other such body kinesthetics

After lunch time, I will drink water. I get off at 4:30 pm, and will exercise as soon as I get home. I usually get home around 5:00 pm. I'm still drinking water at this point. For dinner, I will usually eat an omelet with brown rice or tortillas. I use a lot of veggies at dinner time. Sometimes I grab fast food for dinner. I'm in such a caloric deficit by dinner time that it really does not matter what I eat at dinner time. I will not gain weight. I'm 6 feet 2 inches, a man, and I weigh 190 pounds at the moment. I'm also a degreed Nutritionist.

Dieting is just like everything else: you kust start. There is no "best start". That said, if your plan is to loose weight you should just cut carbs and sugars (0g). Fasting achieves little else than making one's life less normal. You can fake an allergy to gluten so you'd be completely socially acceptable. I diet like that every 3 years or so for 3 months, and everytime I cut at least 10 kg, without loosing muscle mass. The secret is simply getting protein to the medical standards (around 100g for an adult male of 70-80kg), vitamins and lots of greens. I tried eating once a day, but I'd stuff my face in such a way it made me fatter.

No processed foods. I don’t want to live super long. I’m 62 and grateful to be this old because my only sibling died at 55. I have NO living family. I just want the (hopefully) 20 years I have left to be as healthy and independent (no nursing home)as possible. Eating once a day only is a horrible quality of life for me. Ive started intermittent fasting properly for the first time in my life. I've always enjoyed exercise, weight training, rugby, rowing, etc so ive always been fit. Due to covid recently ive slacked off and managed to become the heaviest ive been ever. After starting 20 - 4 fasting i was very shocked to realize that i actually have alot more energy mentally and physically and ive still been able to lift the same weight/frequency and if anything due to wanting to change ive actually been walking or running every day too. Ive been going for nearly 2 weeks now and im going to push it till i can see my abs again.
Side note my acid reflux has finally stopped too!

I saw a beautiful woman - when I was about 16 yrs. old - where I am from in Santa Barbara, CA. She was being interviewed on the street by a local news crew, which asked her what her "secret" was to stay slim.
She answered>"I eat when I am hungry"
That made perfect sense to me, and still does.
It is deceptively simple, but true.
I naturally only eat once a day, because I eat only when I am hungry.
...but depending on what I am doing, every once in a while I eat enough for a football team in one day, and other days? I won't eat at all.
I EAT when I am hungry.
    If I am not, I don't eat.
Now, 30 years later.....well? I am still the same weight as I was at 16.
I am a happy and healthy 105lbs-115lbs my whole life.
    I am 5ft 3in and have muscle.
    I feel great.
Do what your body tells you to do. Simple. But hard in our society.

I agree, but I'd love to add that one should start "eating when they're hungry" only at a certain point, for example, after your puberty has ended. I have always been that person who only eats when I am hungry (and I do eat healthy) since I was a kid, and it resulted in who I am today: healthy, slim (95-100lbs), but short (5'0) whereas my family members are all 5'4 and above.

I'd say to only do that once you're out of puberty. Nutrition is vital to your growth and brain function, your metabolism is higher at that age so you should be fine eating three meals. I followed the one meal plan for 1 year at age 13 and I ended up getting very very irregular periods and stopped growing in height. There's no diet that suits all people, that also includes this one. Your frontal lobe is still developing at that age, so I'd definitely be careful.

    1. It started in my teens when I stopped eating in the morning because I preferred to sleep longer by skipping breakfast.
    2. Then as an adult I started to teach sports lessons after work. So, I had to eat dinner around 16:00 to not get nauseous.
    3. Lunch (12:30) and dinner (16:00) times got so close together, that I simply merged them. Hence one meal a day for me.

I'm seeing a lot of hate towards this video, so I figured I'd share my results after trying it out for about 6 months.
During the 6 months prior to watching this video, I was following conventional weight loss wisdom. I was avoiding fatty foods, trying to eat smaller portions, and looking for healthier meals like a turkey sandwich instead of a cheeseburger. In addition to watching my diet, I was doing 2 hours of MMA training per day, Monday-Friday. During this period of time I lost about 15 pounds.
After watching this video I decided I'd give fasting a try (plus low carb intake to reduce hunger). I'm now about 6 months deep, and have lost 55 pounds during that time. Instead of eating once per day, I eat one meal around 3pm, and a small meal around 10pm (allowing myself time to digest before training, and post-workout protein). For the remainder of the day I consume only water. Despite fasting, my energy levels are higher, I'm almost never hungry, and I feel far better.
One thing to note - I was having my issues with energy levels during MMA training at the start. I remedied these by including a wider variety of fruits and vegetables in my pre-workout meal along with appropriate vitamins to ensure balanced nutrition.
Hopefully this helps someone. I gave fasting a try and lost 4x more weight than I did previously and I feel great.

Paul Davies True. I'm eating more like 1 meal and a post workout snack. However, a normal person could easily do one meal a day without any issues. The only reason I eat a second time is for post-workout protein, which isn't neccesary on my rest days. Anyways, I just saw a lot of people implying the guy in the video doesn't know anything and that eating less is unhealthy, etc, and I wanted to share the impact made on me when trying to implement it.

    • @adasevic2
      @adasevic2 7 років тому +9

If you lost about 15 pounds in 6 months then there is clearly something that you are not doing right with your regimen. If you were to only reduce your calories by roughly 500 and do MMA training you you could have lost that in 3 months. You are A) either lying to your self by overestimate your daily deficit or B) you are binge eating too much, then it doesn't matter if you eat healthy foods. As for conventional diets, which in itself is becoming a miss used word. If you actually look up suggestions you would see "increase your veggies l, reduce some fats, avoid added sugars eat more proteins", stuff that everyone thinks they follow but they clearly don't.
Of course you lost more weight if you found a regimen that suited your lifestyle better. You talk like you've found a magic cure when in fact all you've done is to actually stick to a diet that you can execute without having to think about what you eat all the time. The secret you've done is "tricking" your self into eating less, without having the constant struggle of thinking abut food all the time. This, what most people do who manage to stay lean after a weight loss. Congratulations on the weight loss and doing what every trainer wants their clients to do, lifestyle change.

I'm x Military. The work I did was Special Ops. Often alone, You would eat when you could get food, some times a week when you got nothing. Leaving the Army I went to Canada, no House, no Shops, no people for 5 years. In winter some times no food for 2 weeks. I am now 67, Even back at base or leave, I could only eat once-per-day, some times even now, I eat a meal and not eat again for 4-5 days. I am fit, been hospital once for a gunshot, that's it in 67 years no flu or colds, even out in the wild at 45, bellow. Your body needs less food than you think, And will adjust to any amazing thing you put it through. Train yourself and your body trains with you.

The body adapts very well to just about any routine its subjected to it for a long period of time, its the mental part thats challenging, but again thats down to the individual. Stay head strong

So after a while you don't get hit with hunger pains? I'd really like to try this

I'm trying to do this consistently. I find that if I don't eat breakfast or "forget" to eat because of a busy day, I can literally go through the rest of the day not eating and then finally have something in the evening. The key for me is not to break my fast early.

Same here. If I eat breakfast, I’m doomed. If I “forget” to eat breakfast then I can go all day without feeling hungry.
