It is quite overwhelming to shop for a newborn, so I'm sharing my list of baby essentials with you. This is a pretty exhaustive list of things I couldn't live without when my son was born. Please use this as a reference and add or remove items according to your needs.
I have tried to include only the bare essentials in this video, so watch out for another video with all the extra baby stuff that makes our life a little easier with a newborn!

Hi Vidya. Torn between all the baby sleeping options - cribs/bassinets and what have you. Did you eventually shift him to a cot after the rocking crib for a few months? was the rocking function useful? Want to have minimal things but want to make each one count in terms of the use I get and the peace they provide :D thanks.
I know the confusion, We used the crib until about a year and then now a floor bed (basically just a mattress on the floor, you can look up its benefits) Co sleeping did not really work for me, and it really varies. It is hard to plan before the baby comes, never know what they are going to like. The rocking function was useful only in the very beginning, not in the long run. If you want to keep things minimal, I would suggest a co sleeper and then go from there. A small bouncer will also do the trick for rocking.
Your videos are very good, due in October and it's first pregnancy hve no idea,your videos are really helpful, need a help in nappies and diapers, cotton nappies for new born if possible could you post the link.i saw the link in the description the u shape nappies, do they absorb

What kind of Car Seat and Stroller did you use? Has anybody used the stroller that comes with a bassinet and car seat? Is it more helpful than a regular stroller car seat combo?

I like your videos , my due date is in oct and here is super cold in Canada . I m confused wht should I buy for my baby for inside house . Bcz it’s too much cold outside and we have normal temperature inside . Should I buy cotton sleeper, one piece for sleeping and inside house ??
I would suggest buying clothes suitable for indoors, because you probably won't take the baby out much in the first 2 months. Cotton sleepers are really good, and you can swaddle the baby if needed with a light muslin blanket. Keep baby warm but make sure not to overheat the baby. After the baby comes you can buy some warm clothes to take him/her out.

Hey,, which brand that swaddle blankets are,, and where did you get them and the clothes and also the infant tub
Shaziya Anjum the muslin blankets are by Aden and Anais, I got them on Amazon, they are a bit expensive but last for a long time.. clothes are mostly by carters or mothercare, and the tub was from Amazon too. Hope this helps
Hi dear. I'm expecting and in my 20th week. I want to know if bottle warmer, sanitiser, breast pump are these really needed? If yes then pls tell me which brands are best to buy. Thans!
They are helpful if you need to bottle feed. You can even buy them after baby arrives, I like the Medela or Philips Avent pumps.

Sorry missed this comment earlier, yes a changing pad was super helpful in the first year. I used a tub with an infant mesh in the very beginning, chairs are good too.

It depends on your baby's skin, I tried a few different brands before finding one that suited his dry skin.

Go for pure cotton as much as you can, avoid synthetic fabrics. I love muslin cloth for babies.

We used a rocking mini crib (da vinci) when my son was a newborn. You can get a standard crib that converts into a full sized bed, or a mini crib that can be used until 2 years of age. We also used a rocker in the first 2 months because he was gassy and an incline helped him sleep.

Hi, I found this video very helpful... I am due this November with my first baby. I also stay in the US. Did you plan to bring in any baby essentials and things for you from India considering availability (in the US) and the price(expensive) too?
Congratulations! Not baby essentials, but my mom bought some things for me. Things like edible gum (gond) and nuts laddus, and something called "telagapindi" (telugu term). Some of my friends who had baby girls got Indian traditional clothes for the baby as well, they are so cute. You get pretty much everything here otherwise.

Some babies fit into 0-3 months size right away. You can try them.
I've been looking at tons of videos around on baby and mommy essentials n all about pregnancy but most of them have been by foreign women. Only your video from the Indian ones made some sense to me. good work. plz keep coming up with more videos on pregnancy, new born baby stuff.

It is usually suggested to put one extra layer of clothing from what we wear on baby. However newborns do not regulate heat well, so make sure not to over dress them. Swaddling also helps.

So with baby vest and diaper there is no bottom required? Also, if you have to change 10 to 12 times a day then 4 sleepsuits and 6 vests are enough?
You could also swaddle the baby initially, some babies really like that. It depends on the season when your baby is born. Those are enough to start with, and buy more after the baby comes.

Feel good mama Also, please do a video on ur delivery experience and ur experience wd ur gynae and ur hospital and the logistical issues as well...which people dont usually tall bou coz in India no one talks bou the money and takes the names but it shud actually be encouraged so that scamming gynaez and hospitals remain in their toes (coz only influencers like you can help the rest of the mama community to make wise choices coz of ur personal experiences).
Feel good mama I am not assuming that you had any issue with ur gynae..but a lot of friends of mine have had issues so when someone like you can talk about their own experience it would benefit a lot of people to be careful when they have to engage wd practitioners.

Rosy Fernandes those laddus have a lot of benefits, try them, and you can have a glass of buttermilk once in a while if you feel too much heat.

Hi vidya, i am mother of 4 months old baby. I am planning to buy a cloth diaper for him, i have doubts on which brand & type. Are these 'all in one diapers', will they smell if i us whole night & are those comfortable for baby or will baby gets irritated with all that bulky suff?! Plz give your suggestion.
Cloth diapers are definitely more bulky. You can use all in ones overnight, but I stuck with disposables because I didn't want him to wake up at night. Try a few brands and see which works for you.
